AIBU coffee run

Please settle a light hearted argument...

Our coffee machine is broken, my partner has got in the habit of making a 10 minute walk in the morning to the local french bakery to grab a coffee.
I've asked if he will get me one he says he doesn't want to carry two back...

AIBU to think this is selfish?!
I want a coffee!!

Bananacocks · 16/04/2021 08:42

What an arsehole!

Maves · 16/04/2021 08:42

That's bad and selfish. But why not just buy a coffee machine if you're going to waste money on take outs.

Starstella21 · 16/04/2021 08:43

Our coffee machine is off for repair! Should be back next week

OP posts:
Bumberlee · 16/04/2021 08:43

Fucking mean bastard.

Sciurus83 · 16/04/2021 08:44

WHAT!!! That is outrageous! What a horrible horrible man!

CuriousaboutSamphire · 16/04/2021 08:44

That's not a lighthearted argument. That's him telling you that you are not worth a minor inconvenience.

Weird and selfish!

SatsumasOrClementines · 16/04/2021 08:45

That’s so selfish! I absolutely couldn’t imagine my DP saying that, I’d be shocked.

But, if you both want coffee you should be taking it in turns to go and collect it.

LaganinaBubble · 16/04/2021 08:46

I would not be happy with that Angry
But, why can't you go for coffee for both of you if its so close?

JorisBonson · 16/04/2021 08:46

Rude!

Lassy1945 · 16/04/2021 08:46

Seriously
On paper this seems trivial
But actually it says a lot
An awful lot about how he sees you

LuaDipa · 16/04/2021 08:46

That is awful. I can’t believe anyone would be so selfish.

Mellonsprite · 16/04/2021 08:47

LTB ! No, seriously very selfish of him!

Angrypregnantlady · 16/04/2021 08:48

That's awful. How selfish. I'd never consider going and getting a coffee and not getting DH one as well.

Lassy1945 · 16/04/2021 08:48

And you’re pregnant I’ve just read

You poor thing

This is a bad sign Op

MSQuinn · 16/04/2021 08:48

That’s really mean. I’d advise stopping something you do for him and say it’s much to hard. What a selfish got!

UserTwice · 16/04/2021 08:48

I think it's selfish of him not to get you a coffee if he's getting one for himself.

But I also think it's selfish not for you to offer to go half the time.

So a bit of both really.

LemonRoses · 16/04/2021 08:48

I’d be thinking I didn’t want to cook two suppers or wondering if he needed a carer.

Lollypop701 · 16/04/2021 08:50

I’m petty... stop doing something for him😂 but not ok tbh

CarlottaValdez · 16/04/2021 08:50

Does he bring it straight back or walk around drinking it? If former he’s a real arse, if latter I’d say that’s understandable. I do a long walk first thing and sometimes pick a coffee up for the last bit. I wouldn’t carry a second around for half an hour and it would be cold by the time I got it home anyway.

lemonsyellow · 16/04/2021 08:50

Well, as long as you do the trip every other day.

Starstella21 · 16/04/2021 08:51

Tbf he does usually make me tea and breakfast in bed each morning

OP posts:
ChangedName4TheSakeOfIt · 16/04/2021 08:52

I don't see where this is lighthearted.

Something so small is very clear of what he thinks of you. (And in case you don't realise, it's not much at all)

Stormwhale · 16/04/2021 08:52

My husband would 100% bring me a coffee. In fact I would go as far as to say that if it was only possible to bring one, he would bring me one, not himself. That is so callous op, it says a lot of what he thinks of you and how important it is to him to do things to help or please you. I would be really hurt.

RozHuntleysStump · 16/04/2021 08:54

That's actually awful. Thin end of the wedge too, I'll bet.

Cocomarine · 16/04/2021 08:54

Not lighthearted.
