AIBU coffee run

Starstella21 · 16/04/2021 08:40

Please settle a light hearted argument...

Our coffee machine is broken, my partner has got in the habit of making a 10 minute walk in the morning to the local french bakery to grab a coffee.
I've asked if he will get me one he says he doesn't want to carry two back...

AIBU to think this is selfish?!
I want a coffee!!

OP posts:
TheresNothingIWantMore · 16/04/2021 11:07

I saw another poster mention OP is pregnant, I assume gleamed from anothet thread.

Do we think OPs husband broke the machine on purpose and is trying to surreptitiously limit her caffeine intake?

LavendulaAngustifolia · 16/04/2021 11:08

What a prick

The90swereadecadeago · 16/04/2021 11:10

OP: AIBU to think my husband's selfish?
Virtually everyone: Yes, he's really selfish
OP: This is why I hate MN! I'm not coming back

This, why ask? 😂

midsomermurderess · 16/04/2021 11:11

I don't know whether it is comical or depressing, the head-tilting earnestness you see on this site. Some posters are clearly upset that you don't feel abused and belittled. Where's the drama?

Melroses · 16/04/2021 11:12

Buy yourself a single serving cafetiere.

lolacola77 · 16/04/2021 11:15

What a prince you have there! Seriously, what a selfish arsehole! Is he a twat in other ways?

happywarrior1312 · 16/04/2021 11:18

LTB!!!!!

grapewine · 16/04/2021 11:28

Why post? If he's such a prince among men let him have his coffee and ten minutes alone.

LittleTiger007 · 16/04/2021 11:32

That is actually really sad and mean. It’s nit like he needs two hands free as he can get one of those double cup thingies. My oH would go to the moon and back for me...(and vice versa) if he did what you’re describing then I’d be very hurt, it’s unbelievable selfishness as he’s going to the coffee shop anyway.
This would be a red flag for me... it’s the thin end of the wedge. Coffee is just coffee, if he won’t do that for you then it shows a deep lack of care or respect.

EasterEggBelly · 16/04/2021 11:32

@NormanStangerson

To be fair though, lighthearted or not, your husband does sound like a prick.

Unless we’re anticipating a drip feed whereby he only has one arm....

Ha ha ha ha ha!

This is the only scenario whereby the DH would not be unreasonable.

LittleTiger007 · 16/04/2021 11:33

@The90swereadecadeago

*OP: AIBU to think my husband's selfish? Virtually everyone: Yes, he's really selfish OP: This is why I hate MN! I'm not coming back*

This, why ask? 😂

😂🙄
Allwokedup · 16/04/2021 11:38

Wtf that’s so mean of him.

SleepingStandingUp · 16/04/2021 11:39

@YouJustDoYou

It would happen once for me, then I wouldn't be arsed to cook for him one evening "because it was too much work", then just may be he might see what do we coming from.
So he makes breakfast in bed then goes out for a walk, and because he doesn't being her stuff back she should never do anything for him again? Why can't op walk to the shop?
LittleTiger007 · 16/04/2021 11:43

@Winterwoollies

OP: my husband buys himself a coffee but refuses to bring me one. Is that selfish?!

Us: yep, that’s selfish.

OP: but he brings me breakfast in bed every day! He’s the best! I hate Mumsnet (laughing face).

Us: ...

🤦‍♀️

Maybe don’t post slagging off your lovely husband then.

Bored woman moans at husband for not bringing her coffee.

Husband brings her breakfast in bed and is wonderful in all ways including taking care of the many kids.

Bored woman gets sympathy that he’s selfish then puts us all correct that he is in fact a prince among men.

Result - time wasted across the board as this was a non issue.

Sunshinedrops85 · 16/04/2021 12:00

I personally think this say a lot OP.

Kokosrieksts · 16/04/2021 12:03

That is very rude.

Viviennemary · 16/04/2021 12:06

Take turns.

OnePinaColada · 16/04/2021 12:10

Won't the coffee get very cold by the time he has walked back with it anyway?

Kaptain · 16/04/2021 12:14

OP are you quite dim? You start a thread in AIBU complaining about your husband, asking if he's selfish. Everyone says "Yeah, he's selfish". You then defend him and somehow decide it's the posters who are wrong?! Hmm

HeyDemonsItsYaGirl · 16/04/2021 12:17

Is anyone else trying to work out what responses the OP wanted?

Was it a trick question and Romeo is actually a goldfish?

TillyTopper · 16/04/2021 12:20

I think that's nasty unless he said it as a joke and brought it back for you anyway! I'm actually a bit stunned by that!

Whydidimarryhim · 16/04/2021 12:26

Yes you sound entitled. 😀😀

CupoTeap · 16/04/2021 12:28

Well then he needs to make 2 trips, I can't imagine going and not offering to get anything for anyone else in the house

littlepattilou · 16/04/2021 12:31

WTF?

EmbarrassingMama · 16/04/2021 12:31

Does he have two hands?
