At a risk of being sent to the Tower, whilst I think it is sad that Prince Philip has died, am I alone in being amazed at the constant repetitive TV about his life.
It’s just going over snd over same old stuff. And I’d like to watch some normal TV !

IABU - YES
IANBU - NO

Hmm
notturningintopowerranger · 09/04/2021 18:39

He had a great and very long life, lots don’t. We can acknowledge the good he may have done without putting him on a pedestal and thinking about/talking about nothing else for days on end. YANBU!

Mrsjayy · 09/04/2021 18:40

He just died ,this will be protocol as a mark of respect .we have put on a film because its on a loop.

fliss444 · 09/04/2021 18:40

I can forgive most things BUT NO EMMERDALE??????
I'm in shock.

My mum will be RAGING !

RolloTomassi · 09/04/2021 18:42

He's been consort for 70 years! He was always going to get dominant coverage. It's only a day, I don't mind at all. Sure it'll all be much calmer tomorrow.

00100001 · 09/04/2021 18:43

This is exactly what happens anyone high profile dies.... Imagine what will happen when dear Lizzie shuffles off this mortal coil...

Thisisnotreallymyname · 09/04/2021 18:43

I’m missing Richard Osman’s House of Games weekly final 😢

Yanbu to be annoyed. YABU to be amazed
Of course they are overdoing it but it's to be expected.

Just switch over or off.

DareIask · 09/04/2021 18:44

I agree. Devote the whole of one of your channels to it, but bbc1 & 2?

Too much

WhiskyIrnBru · 09/04/2021 18:44

I don't see why it's necessary on all 3 channels, as it was this afternoon. All the channels are so desperate in competition.

VanGoghsDog · 09/04/2021 18:45

@Thisisnotreallymyname

It's a repeat, it's probably on iplayer or Youtube.

There's tons more channels and various catch up services available. Or read a book.

gingercat02 · 09/04/2021 18:46

Seriously MASTERCHEF FINAL!!! Sad for the Queen and family but not tributes on both BBC1 and 2 and the blooming news channel. I think we have run out of tween friendly Netflix 🤣

Strangekindofwoman · 09/04/2021 18:47

I don't think there's any need for it to be on a loop for hours and hours

JayAlfredPrufrock · 09/04/2021 18:48

Surprised in this day and age that it’s wall to wall on every channel.

Could be on the news channels then watch it if you want.

RIP Phil but really, no Corrie 🤔

Thisisnotreallymyname · 09/04/2021 18:48

I agree , have it on ONE BBC channel , just not them all.

WorraLiberty · 09/04/2021 18:49

No different to the repetitive threads really

Then find a non-uk channel. There's quite a few
WhoWants2Know · 09/04/2021 18:50

Megan went on Oprah and that's all anyone heard about for a week. So, yeah, I expect that this will carry on for a while, by the time the funeral, etc. are finished.

Zancah · 09/04/2021 18:50

Watch some iplayer and get over yourselves.

EveWasReframed · 09/04/2021 18:50

There's a double episode of Friday Night Dinner on at 9pm, on Freeview ch 30.

minou123 · 09/04/2021 18:50

I agree with you OP. Without trying to sound callous, this constant coverage is really unnecessary.

We will be watching the same thing on the day of his funeral.

ICantBeDoingWithThis · 09/04/2021 18:51

I feel sorry for the Queen and his family but I knew when this day came it would be wall to wall coverage on every news channel and some others for days and weeks. No offence meant but I didn’t like the man, he made many many offensive comments over the years and all we’re generally hearing is what a great bloke he was. IMO he really wasn’t. He had an extremely privileged life (like most of the rest of the royal family I know) and he didn’t seem to have much compassion from what I could see and no sense of being a man of the people. I won’t be watching the news now until he is no longer featuring on it.

Nanny0gg · 09/04/2021 18:52

Good job you weren't around when Churchill died. And there were only 3 (just) channels, all in B&W.

The country came to a standstill for the funeral

Dalamalama · 09/04/2021 18:53

@fliss444

Or coronation street or Eastenders. Netflix or a good book it is.

He was 99 yrs old and had a privileged life which I'm seeing on every channel when I put the telly box on. Ffs!
