At a risk of being sent to the Tower, whilst I think it is sad that Prince Philip has died, am I alone in being amazed at the constant repetitive TV about his life.
It’s just going over snd over same old stuff. And I’d like to watch some normal TV !

IABU - YES

It's no different to the repetitive coverage of any other major news story, worthy or unworthy. Plus, like it or not he held an official position within our state machinery for decades so as a country we're in national morning.

Personally, its a welcome relief from the incessant Harry and meghan coverage.

And I can live without normal TV schedules for a week.

What Harry and meghan coverage.

Atalantea - word for word the same response that I got.
The only problem is, this wasn't what I complained about.

I complained about a web page full of drivel being passed off as news. This took the form 'old man man dies, his wife becomes a widow.' Tell us something we don't know, not the bleeding obvious.

Dalamalama · 17/04/2021 18:26

Gosh that was a boring funeral and surely someone could have sat with the Queen?!

cateycloggs · 17/04/2021 19:29

Yes that was the reply I received, not what I complained about either. Did anyone else get an immediate link to a survey from an outside source on their reaction to the BBC response? I filled it in as I am still annoyed but not surprised at the BBC fudging peoples' complaints.

I watched the funeral and would never complain about that being shown in full as an event of national importance and who knows what historical import in the future. Also enjoyed it as theatre - lots to think about ther. But it was not on all channels at all times.

Unfortunately there has been limited things to say, if I hear "carriage driving" once more 😂😂...

Anyway its all over now.
It was just too much... Huw did a great job today, treading water for hours and hours with not much to talk about.

Whereisthewarmth · 17/04/2021 19:33

Yes catey, absolutely re funeral! Yes to its historic importance too, as theatre... Could have been improved but I guess military man designed it.

Peregrina · 17/04/2021 19:42

I couldn't abide the chatter about nothing from Huw Edwards, but thankfully when the procession with the coffin started he shut up, and it was possible to watch without his 'contributions'.

Goodness, Whereis the Warmth, I think it was more a matter of what the BBC thought appropriate not to say which is probably why he repeated himself so much. I found it very thought provoking and am deperately restraining myself from sharing here as I know nobody would be much interested orwould consider my type of thoughts in bad taste.

One thing I was thinking , the youngest grandchildren there could conceivably live until the the 22nd Century, how would they look back on this. The Queen's generation are the last who had experience of being brought up and directly influenced by the Victorians, my own grandparents were Victorian by birth and I do feel there is a difference of awareness even though I never knew them. Their imprint was on my parents as they are on me. So the future generations(those born this century) will probably regard the 'new Elizabethans' as they once were as we regard the Victorians

I tuned in again on Saturday afternoon for the next instalment and was disappointed to find it must have been cancelled.

I did hear that after Philip’s Land Rover, Andrew has decided that he needs to find a 15-year-old Escort.
