At a risk of being sent to the Tower, whilst I think it is sad that Prince Philip has died, am I alone in being amazed at the constant repetitive TV about his life.
It’s just going over snd over same old stuff. And I’d like to watch some normal TV !

IABU - YES
IANBU - NO

Dh has just found out that the Masterchef final has been cancelled. He's not happy.

evilharpy · 09/04/2021 19:30

I remember "tribute" videos being played on a loop for ages when Michael Jackson died. Not on all channels though. Surely they'll run out of things to say about him after a while and go back to BAU until the funeral?

UnderHisAye · 09/04/2021 19:31

I don't give a single fuck that he died and I'm already hugely bored of the false sentiment.

I dread the Queen dying for similarly selfish reasons.

CeeJay81 · 09/04/2021 19:32

Totally agree. Ah well thank goodness for Netflix 😁

Yes.

This always happens on TV, at such times, especially with anything royal.Just switch the TV off if it's on all channels.

PradaBallbag · 09/04/2021 19:33

They'd better bloody not cancel the Masterchef final for this shite!

Blacktothepink · 09/04/2021 19:33

Yanbu!

MrsJBaptiste · 09/04/2021 19:34

I get you OP!

DH has gone out tonight and I settled down with my wine, crisps and Radio 1 (love Annie Mac & Danny Howard on a Friday night) but no...

I know it's only one night but really, is there that much to keep repeating?

TheMoth · 09/04/2021 19:35

No radio 6 all day. Even radio 6.

MrsJBaptiste · 09/04/2021 19:36

@PishFood

Does this national mourning include a day off work? I don’t mind wall to wall coverage if we get a Monday off. RIP
To be honest, that's the first thing I asked this morning 🤔
whenwillthemadnessend · 09/04/2021 19:37

When Lizzie goes shops and businesses will be shut and we will go into national Mourning A few days tv is nothing to what's to come.

Cocolapew · 09/04/2021 19:38

Bastards

doctorhamster · 09/04/2021 19:39

It won't interfere with line of duty on Sunday will it???

MMAMPWGHAP · 09/04/2021 19:39

Looks like the BBC are receiving a lot of complaints. I’m about to add to them

Repetitive TV about Duke’s Death
Mookie81 · 09/04/2021 19:40

@Stellaris22

I doubt the BBC are showing an accurate portrayal of him anyone.

Definitely won't be airing the time he told a woman who lost two sons in a fire that smoke alarms are a 'damn nuisance'.

And that's not the worst of his comments. Disgusting.
WeekendCEO · 09/04/2021 19:41

Just turn it off. I don’t want to watch it so
I’m watching Netflix but I don’t know why you’re amazed at it being on repetitively, it’s always the same when stuff like this happens. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Harriscap · 09/04/2021 19:42

I agree with you OP.

Been working and usually have R4 on in the background. I don’t want to listen to repeated versions of what he did. It’s all too much!!

Snugglepiggy · 09/04/2021 19:43

It is one day. We're watching Netflix.

UrbanRambler · 09/04/2021 19:44

YANBU, it does seem a bit OTT.

It's sad news, and I feel sorry for the Queen and his family, but his death was not unexpected considering his great age. I understand why the news was extended to run special reports, and I understand why all the main channels are reporting the story and paying tribute to his long years of service, but I think that having rolling coverage on several channels for hours on end is a bit OTT. Still, we do have the choice of turning the TV off, whereas the Queen and her family can't just turn off their grief and forget about it - it must be so hard for them.

MimiDaisy11 · 09/04/2021 19:44

I am amazed you're amazed. The British media are obsessed with the royals. As soon as I found out I turned off the tv and I don't plan to listen to the news for at least a few more days.

ErniesGhostlyGoldTops · 09/04/2021 19:44

I agree OP. Why does it have to be on Beeb one and two?

He has led an amazingly privilaged life. I doubt few commoners would get a stent at 99 years of age. He might have done a lot of good but I want it all over already. If this goes on until the funeral it will drive me crazy!
