At a risk of being sent to the Tower, whilst I think it is sad that Prince Philip has died, am I alone in being amazed at the constant repetitive TV about his life.
It’s just going over snd over same old stuff. And I’d like to watch some normal TV !

IABU - YES
IANBU - NO

It’s sad he’s passed but fuck me, every 10 minutes on the radios and certain channels they’re talking about it. Didn’t realise he was dead Hmm

I feel your pain OP, not too arsed about tv but it was a 100k make me a winner on absolute tonight. Probably won’t of won it but pissed off they haven’t mentioned when they’re rescheduling it for!

Litthefirealready · 09/04/2021 19:09

It’s ridiculous, one channel is enough and even that’s overkill but to be expected.

I respect him and all the work he has done and the fact that he gave up his life for the country but I really think that it’s insane to behave like this.

I just hope that they continue to move people on from the palaces and don’t allow people to congregate because the police will absolutely not go in with batons - like in other circs where people congregate to mourn a death.

DuchessOfBuggerAll · 09/04/2021 19:10

YABU because YABU not because you've told me how to vote. YABU for that as well.

ICantBeDoingWithThis

I totally agree and thank you for being brave enough to say it.

NeedToKnow101 · 09/04/2021 19:15

Ohyesiam · 09/04/2021 19:17

But, but... GARDENERS WORLD?

No , please don’t please don’t tell me it won’t be on?

midsomermurderess · 09/04/2021 19:17

'Or read a book'. How patronising.

I thought I might be on my own here but I had to say something. He was a blatant racist as well, I’ve said it now. I don’t think anyone is likely to mention that on the news luvvie fest either.
Souther · 09/04/2021 19:18

I havnt noticed but I haven't watched much TV today.

ssd · 09/04/2021 19:20

Couldn't agree more op

WaitingForNormality · 09/04/2021 19:20

YANBU

We've had the same news and tribute on all day and this evenings Tv is basically cancelled too. I totally understand that it's a prominent state figure that has passed away etc but i agree with you that it's so repetitive!

I'm just glad gogglebox isn't cancelled!

He’s had a very interesting life

Nighthogs · 09/04/2021 19:24

YANBU.

He lived a long and privileged life, and not without some complete fuckwittery in some of his racist comments.

I won't be watching.

LindainLockdown · 09/04/2021 19:26

YA Totally NBU, ridiculous amount of blanket coverage, affecting radio as well as TV. The latter heavily featuring royal commentators (mostly Nicholas Witchell) generally spouting a load of old tosh. Not impressed at paying a licence fee for this, completely OTT.

Lovethewater · 09/04/2021 19:26

YANBU - switched the radio off as it's just the same presentation on repeat - just not necessary and so over the top. He had a long life and will be mourned by his family - that should be enough.

Thisisnotreallymyname · 09/04/2021 19:27

I agree ! I didn’t dignify it with a comment .

But wasn't it lovely when the news finished with photographs, and Nimrod!

lynsey91 · 09/04/2021 19:28

I am a bit surprised that both BBC1 and BBC2 are showing programmes about him all night but I can't get annoyed about it.

Surely most people have sky or netflix. Also you could watch something you have recorded.

Channel 4 seem to be showing their normal schedule. Can't let all the fans of the crap that is Googlebox miss out

Thisisnotreallymyname · 09/04/2021 19:28

@Slub

YABVVVU Watch Netflix or Prime you fuckwit
😂😂 sadly the programmes that I want to watch are not on those channels. But thank you for your kind comment 😘

I switched of the TV earlier because I knew what to expect. I think his death is sad but after the Queen goes which hopefully won't be for a long time I think we should consider the future of The Royal Family. It just won't be the same without The Queen...

KoalaOok · 09/04/2021 19:29

Not everyone watches TV 24/7

Harriscap · 09/04/2021 19:30

Every fucking channel, every fucking radio station. Hmm ConfusedAngry

I don't pay a fee for this. FFS. He sounds like a good, if flawed, chap.

Do the royals have shares in Netflix? Because that's what I, and the rest of the nation, to will turn to. Perhaps this is part of the Sussex- Netflix deal, to push us all there?

No Friday comedy. FFS. I'm fairly ambivalent about the royals until this, now I hate the lot. Stealing my comedy.

PishFood · 09/04/2021 19:30

Does this national mourning include a day off work? I don’t mind wall to wall coverage if we get a Monday off. RIP
