Live in a beautiful seaside town in the SW.

Yesterday, in the 5 minutes of getting out of my car I saw the second home owners from Oxford in their holiday home opposite our house had arrived and a whole family get out of their car with their suitcases arrive at their gran's house two doors down.

Just...bloody...WAIT!!!

OP posts:
Plates · 27/03/2021 07:22

Wait for what? It's the holidays 2 days won't make a difference.

Finfintytint · 27/03/2021 07:23

Good for them.

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 27/03/2021 07:23

Oh here we go . No one is allowed to visit anyone else's town especially " beautiful seaside towns in the sw"
They are probably not supposed to visit their gran atm but as from monday I believe people are allowed to move around more ? Ans 11 apr uk holidays are allowed
As long as no one visits beautiful coastal towns in the sw of course
Their tourist industry is very happy to go bankrupt.

IndecentFeminist · 27/03/2021 07:24

Meh

HugeAckmansWife · 27/03/2021 07:25

What for? Seriously, in terms of ACTUAL risk, what's the difference? In two days the roads will be crazy, service stations will be crowded and there would be more risk. Its clear that this isn't about Covid as much as a dislike of 2nd homers.

oohmamama · 27/03/2021 07:25

Everyone is very welcome - when they're allowed to come.

MiddleParking · 27/03/2021 07:25

Why does it take you five minutes to get out your car?!

oohmamama · 27/03/2021 07:26

Two children and shopping Hmm

I no longer care about this. Neither does the majority if the country if they were honest. Particularly if its a second home, it belongs to them. They can live there. Bollocks this 'local town for local people' nonsense.

Sansaplans · 27/03/2021 07:27

Did people with second home who 'werent allowed' to use them for the past however long get a rebate on the council tax seen as though they were forbidden from using the local amenities?

user1487194234 · 27/03/2021 07:27

Good sign of normality returning

Weenurse · 27/03/2021 07:27

I don’t understand, here in Australia we are hearing about how the UK should be getting a third wave sometime soon, why are people travelling?

abstractzebra · 27/03/2021 07:27

Maybe the gran has had some bad news and needs some support?

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 27/03/2021 07:28

It's 2 days until they're officially allowed there. I can't see how 48 hours is going to make any difference

oohmamama · 27/03/2021 07:28

Maybe - not sure she needs 5 people if so.

God this annoys me too! It's always 'a beautiful seaside town' would it not matter if it was a run down council estate somewhere up north?
CherryAndAlmond · 27/03/2021 07:29

Maybe they are Gran's support bubble? Or maybe she needs their company or care if she's alone? There are often reasons you might not know about.

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 27/03/2021 07:29

Move to an ugly industrial town in essex like me then you wouldn't have to worry about things like this Grin

It's not - not sure where that's coming from.

No overnight stays until the 12th and no staying in anyone else's house til June.

Great to hear that people are starting to move around, get their lives back, and put money back into the economy.

We locked down again after Christmas when other European countries didn’t, vaccination programme is going very well and the weather is improving so no sign of another lockdown yet.
oohmamama · 27/03/2021 07:31

I apologise if 'beautiful seaside town' has offended people. I was merely setting the scene. And yes - I'd be pissed off it it was a grimy city centre but I guess it's less likely to happen there.

OP posts:
Pinotwoman82 · 27/03/2021 07:31

We’ve had our 3rd wave, it was January/February. We have been in lockdown since end of December. Schools went back 3 weeks ago, shops still not open for another 2 weeks, our hospital admissions are at very low levels now. I think Europe are having a 3rd wave as they never properly locked down after Christmas

oohmamama · 27/03/2021 07:31

@Finfintytint

We are still in a lockdown.

OP posts:
Dontforgetyourbrolly · 27/03/2021 07:31

@Weenurse maybe because it rains 300 days a year , we all dont have beaches on our doorstep and most of us live on top of each other. And we are fed up of 12 months of restrictions.
That's why
It might not be sensible but its the truth
