To ask if you’ve been harassed, assaulted, abused, or raped or in any way by men?

It’s just a quick show of hands, really, as I know some people are skeptical of the recent polls.

Obviously it’s entirely up to you to define this but harassment I would consider anything from (but not limited to) catcalling, unwanted comments (in virtue of your looks/body/attractiveness (yes, being told to smile) femininity, negative parenting as a mother and not just as a parent, or in some way negative biology of woman), stalking, persistence when you’ve already said no.

Assault - physic or verbal.

Abuse - emotional, physical, mental or sexual

Rape - including (but I consented to x but he did y)

I have had everything from the above (which is why my list includes it, but I certainly have miss r so things. However I’d be interested in the poll to see the responses).

Ps - before it’s ask, I’m clearly not a journalist or someone being toady (go ahead and advance search). I’m just curious to see how to polls align.

Harassed by both men and women - neither incident massively severe but certainly not pleasant.

A man exposed himself to me on more than one occasion after a night shift and on public transport. The second time he followed me so I ran to a nearby police station. He turned around and got back on the same bus.

He later got arrested for (I think) doing the same to an under 16 year old but I’m not 100% on her age.

Just last week my DD22 was standing at the supermarket waiting on her taxi (away at uni) at 10am, when a man in mid 30s wolf whistled at her, she ignored him so he got out his van and told her she must be sensitive or a lesbian as it’s a compliment to be whistled at!!!
Thankfully she’s more than able and told him to fuck off or she’d call the number on his van.
Appalling behaviour.

I don't know a single woman who hasn't been harrased/abused in some way, from being cat called or insulted for not taking notice of the cat caller, to women beaten and raped.

Harassed. Sexual assaulted numerous times including one at work. Raped.
All the above done by men.

Almost every woman I know has experienced the same. Most are so accepting of it that they think it’s ok.

All four. All different men. Horrific.

And every woman and girl I know has endured harassment.

When I was younger I experienced a lot of physical abuse on the crowded underground and buses, a great place to touch up a young women/girl and use the overcrowding as an excuse if you dared say anything.

I was physically abused by a stranger in a pub. Also, sad to say, there were a number of times in my career in the NHS when I felt very uncomfortable with doctors on a night shift. Groped by drunk patients in A/E on many occasions.

Sexually assaulted twice. Once when I was a teen and once in my 40s. Stupedly didn't report either time

When we did photography at middle school, the teacher used to stand behind me pressed up close with his hands either side of me "helping" me to develop the photos. it was just me and him in the dark room.
