Question for couples. Double or King size?

I moved in with my partner 6 months ago and everything is great except he has a double bed and I'm a restless sleeper and he gives off a ton of heat.
I've said we should get a king size as that's what most people have.
He seems to think it's not the bed and that I'm the one with a problem and that most people have double beds and get on alright with them.
I'd have a super king if it was me but the room wouldn't take it.
So AIBU for not wanting to spend every night squashed up in a double bed?
If you're a couple what do you have?

Super king. Both sleep much better. Doubles aren’t big enough for two adults IMO.

Aquamarine1029 · 24/02/2021 17:36

I could never sleep in a double with my husband. We have a super king and are very happy and well rested.

wandawombat · 24/02/2021 17:37

Separate rooms.

Got a king size, still couldn't share...get on great but different time zones for sleep, I'm too warm, yadda, yadda

PolarnOPirate · 24/02/2021 17:38

We have a king in a room that really should have a double 😄 doubles just aren’t comfy especially if kids are coming in for cuddles in the night.

EmmaStone · 24/02/2021 17:38

DH and I both slim (although he's very tall), get no sleep when we have to share a double - King minimum required.

SquatBetty · 24/02/2021 17:38

King size, I'd love a super king but our bedroom isn't quite big enough. I hate sharing a double bed with DH, even on holiday I only book places if they've got a King size bed

sqirrelfriends · 24/02/2021 17:39

As big as the room allows, We have a super king and could do with something bigger as we both like to stretch out.

SortYourLifeHelp · 24/02/2021 17:39

Superking.

Why would ANYONE say double?!

RainRainGoAway12 · 24/02/2021 17:39

Super king over here!

Kpo58 · 24/02/2021 17:40

Definitely a King size. Double is only fine if you are both really skinny and under 5'5".

TheUnexpectedPickle · 24/02/2021 17:40

Oh my

King size
King size
King size
King size.

DP is only 5'5" and yet he takes up so much fucking room!!!

King size. Forever!

userxx · 24/02/2021 17:40

Doubles are just a bit too cosy for me. King is perfect 👍

ThreeTwoOneBlastOff · 24/02/2021 17:41

We have a king size, it’s brilliant loads of space!

Bleughbleughbleugh12 · 24/02/2021 17:41

We must be odd then as we have a double and I love it! Nicer to be close

LApprentiSorcier · 24/02/2021 17:41

King

Pizzaandgarlicdip · 24/02/2021 17:42

We currently have a double. Went on holiday last year and slept in a super king and had the best nights sleep we’d ever had. As soon as we move house we’ll be upgrading to at least a king

ItsLoisSangersFault · 24/02/2021 17:42

Our holiday rental last year had a double Shock twas awful. I checked before I booked this year.

user1493413286 · 24/02/2021 17:42

Super king; we couldn’t manage in a double

TheWayOfTheWorld · 24/02/2021 17:43

Super king here too - we hate having to share a double on holiday.

PurpleSproutingSomething · 24/02/2021 17:43

Super king here too, but if room allows definitely a king size.

Worst bit about sleeping elsewhere is the size of the beds!

AdventureCode · 24/02/2021 17:43

You're not U if you are currently getting squashed, but clearly it doesn't bother him.

I have a double, but dp and i are slim and I'm not the tallest person in the world. We snuggle all night because we both love the heat so a double is perfect.

Get the King op!

lastqueenofscotland · 24/02/2021 17:43

King!! I don’t know how people cope with doubles

TheNoodlesIncident · 24/02/2021 17:44

We have a double and it's fine, maybe we aren't restless sleepers? It seems roomy enough for us. Mind you my DH also gives off heat like a thermo nuclear reactor but I feel the cold so maybe I just absorb it? Grin

Anyhow, if you're uncomfortable then maybe the next size up would help? And/or separate duvets?

speakout · 24/02/2021 17:44

Two doubles- in separate rooms.

Saywhatyoumeanandmeanwhatyousa · 24/02/2021 17:45

We've got a double but I'd rather have a superking
