Question for couples. Double or King size?

I moved in with my partner 6 months ago and everything is great except he has a double bed and I'm a restless sleeper and he gives off a ton of heat.
I've said we should get a king size as that's what most people have.
He seems to think it's not the bed and that I'm the one with a problem and that most people have double beds and get on alright with them.
I'd have a super king if it was me but the room wouldn't take it.
So AIBU for not wanting to spend every night squashed up in a double bed?
If you're a couple what do you have?

Super king.

King. Even better now he has decided to fuck off to the spare room and I get it all to myself.

Superking. Absolutely lush.
And also good for cuddling with the kids on movie nights!

@FleetwoodRaincoat

Makes you wonder how anyone ever slept before the invention of king size beds.
I believe it used to be the norm for married couples to have twin beds. I remember my grandparents did (in the 1960s) and I've just found this on the internet:

...but for almost a century between the 1850s and 1950s, separate beds were seen as a healthier, more modern option for couples than the double, with Victorian doctors warning that sharing a bed would allow the weaker sleeper to drain the vitality of the stronger...

A google also tells me that king size became common in the 60s and 70s - so I'm not sure when a standard double was ever the norm.

Super King, can you move furniture around so the room can take it?
It was the best thing we did getting rid of one of our wardrobes so we could move things around and fit it comfortably.
The space is lovely, the peace from moving around and not disturbing the other person is wonderful.

We've always had a standard double bed without issue, I'm 5'9", he's 6'2". We couldn't fit a bigger bed in our room and when we've stayed away in a King (or could've been bigger I suppose I don't know) size found it weirdly large with us huddled together in the middle. I suppose we like having the other close, it's just what you're used to I think. I love sleeping together, I think it's one of the perks of being in a relationship and I can't sleep well without him anyway. I can't understand people who have separate beds or rooms, always think that's the beginning of the end.

Our first bed was a double as the king size was £200 more. With hindsight it would have been the best £200 spent once children came along; as although they started in their own beds they frequently ended up in ours. By the time we bought a king they were past the age of wanting to be in our bed. However, we now have two dogs and wish we had gone for the super king; as they are far worse than children at taking ownership of the space! Therefore, when deciding on bed size, think who may be in it over the next ten years and buy accordingly.

Huddling together is all very well until one of you gets a bad knee/back/hip and has to sleep with a selection of pillows arranged around you. Or a giant pregnancy tummy. Or menopausal heat that means you don't want anything near your roasting body!
