Bloody squirrels

So sat at home today on a day off and noticed a couple of squirrels on the balcony. I think they might be living on the balcony next door as there’s a gap between the two balconies. I’ve rung the housing association abs their going to get pest control to get in touch. But I’m a vegan abs the thought of finding a dead squirrel on the balcony makes me feel a bit queasy 😬.
Any suggestions on how to discourage the buggers. I’m on the second floor.

Personally I'd just give them some peanuts, but I love watching them in my garden!

Just let them get on with it. Squirrels run up and down my house all the time but I live in the countryside so the wildlife doesn't bother me. I am sure your squirrels don't live on the balcony but just come from wooded areas to look for food.

Seeing the squirrel dead might help you combat your veganism, it will show that life is fleeting and that even as a vegan you still justify killing in certain circumstances. If you are willing to kill squirrels by proxy, why not eat other animals that have been killed on your behalf?

Your neighbours might love having squirrels living on their balcony and be thoroughly annoyed that you’ve called pest control!

Be glad that they're on your balcony and not in your attic and walls. Sigh.

If they got on your balcony, they can get off. There is a reason that you never see fire personnel rescuing squirrels off of roofs.

Why are you uneasy about the fact that squirrels are climbing to try and find food they climb, they eat, that’s what they do. I’d be feeling them some walnuts, or, if you want to keep them busy, hazelnuts as they will run off and bury them.

You're a vegan but ultimately you have just sentenced however many squirrels to death.

Why not just feed them and enjoy watching them. They're just trying to find food during a time of year when it is scarce and hard to find.

Get a big bag of monkey nuts and welcome them into the family. We have squiddly and diddly plus their 2 teenage squirrels to provide for now. They make me smile numerous times a day.

What are your reasons for being vegan exactly? Current trend? Because you don’t sound like it’s for ethical stances if you’ve just been straight on the blower to pest control because a couple of living creatures and popped by looking for food

Your comment about being a vegan is ridiculous. You phoned pest control because you want them to kill the squirrels. This will result in dead squirrels, had you not realised that?

This cannot be the first time you've seen squirrels in your neighbourhood (and if it's the first time you've seen them on your balcony, I'd wager you've just not been looking much). What harm do you think they're doing?

(Also chuckling at a vegan calling pest control. Do you think they're going to re-locate them to a nice country oak tree - if they don't look at a call saying there's a squirrel and think 'No shit, Sherlock'?)

We are rural and have so so many squirrels. They are constantly in my patio pots burying shit and they do damage to a neighbours roof when they get into the attic

None of us have ever called pest control on them or tried to kill them.

It’s not the thought of seeing a dead one that bothers us, it’s we don’t want them killed. But then we aren’t vegans and we don’t have small animals killed.
