To enjoy a secret McDonald's

Some times when I go to do the weekly shop, I'll stop and have a McDonald's on the way home. I sit in my car and listen to my audiobook whilst enjoying some chips or whatever.

We actually only live a few minutes away from this McDonald's so I technically could get everyone one, DH and the kids and take it home. But I don't mention it! 😂 I like the 20 mins to myself before going back. I know DH would probably think I was a right selfish cow if he knew, he likes a McDonald's every now and then and the kids well... Obviously they would.

Am I the worst wife and mother ever? Grin

Sometimes, (when DD's gymnastics was open), I'd drop her off, then go for McD's breakfast on the way home by myself. Nobody was any the wiser.

100 percent great ideaGrin of course you should treat yourself. I never thought of doing this but sometimes I get a coffee and chill when it's bedtime for the dc and there is a screaming match. I go to the garage for an urgent pint of milk or something for the lunches.

I think DH just thinks the shops must be very busy a lot of the time! 😂😂

I obviously have to make sure all evidence is thrown away at the scene. Any left napkin or straw will be jumped on by child's eyes if spotted the next time they are in the car!

Do you smoke? I'm just wondering how you mask the stench, usually if you have a McDonald's in a car it can't be smelt for days afterwards.

See I would do this for myself. I haven't. But I could imagine doing it. I would be very annoyed if dh did this though lol eating with out me 😲

I do this but also don’t have a partner or kids. Just like a secret drive through Maccas so can have a sneaky snack in the car whilst scrolling through my phone

Sounds like a perfect bit of 'me' time. Not remotely selfish.
Keep it up and don't let anyone else in on it otherwise it will spoil your time.

I used to do this with kfc. Listen to music and have a bite to eat in the car before braving the supermarket. Don’t want to do a shop on an empty stomach.

He rarely uses my car and touch wood the kids have so far been oblivious!

I do this on a Saturday when DD has her dance class. Maccies breakfast a brew and peace .....

Turns out DH does this too when it's his weekend to take her 😂

Even thou it’s junk it’s quiet nice to just do something for yourself !
My local one is literally 2 min car drive 😂
Not very often but when I do it’s bliss
Don’t feel guilty we as mum and wives do almost everything at home like grocery shopping that’s your reward xx

I do this with a chocolate eclair which I put in the trolley in full knowledge it will never make it home. There is a lay-by with a stunning view so I sometimes sit on the wall in the sunshine enjoying the view, the peace and the sun. Yanbu

We have a drive thru one near us and sometimes when my youngest needs a nap at the weekend, I stick him in the car, put a podcast on, pass through Maccys and go for a very long drive so he sleeps and I eat!

One of the things I miss about living on my own was grabbing McDs for dinner on my way back from work - there was a McDonalds 30 seconds from my old flat.

Moving in with DP and meal planning for the week has put a stop to that. As has home working (can’t sneakily get one at lunchtime anymore and too far from McDonald’s now to drive there and back during a lunch break) 😒

There was also a KFC a couple of minutes away too. I miss that flat.
