To enjoy a secret McDonald's

SecretMaccies · 05/01/2021 11:29

Some times when I go to do the weekly shop, I'll stop and have a McDonald's on the way home. I sit in my car and listen to my audiobook whilst enjoying some chips or whatever.

We actually only live a few minutes away from this McDonald's so I technically could get everyone one, DH and the kids and take it home. But I don't mention it! 😂 I like the 20 mins to myself before going back. I know DH would probably think I was a right selfish cow if he knew, he likes a McDonald's every now and then and the kids well... Obviously they would.

Am I the worst wife and mother ever? Grin

Yup! There is no greater joy in the world than taking 10 minutes to zone out and do something that you perceive as self care (even if it’s apparently “not food” Hmm).

Even better now they do click and serve - no pissing about in the drive thru queue and then inevitably being asked to park up anyway!

IceIceBebe · 05/01/2021 15:49

No.

SecretMaccies · 05/01/2021 15:50

@Mousehole10

I do this too. Currently sat in mcDonalds car park eating my takeaway whilst reading your post Grin

You're the one who went food shopping, so you're 100% allowed!

AdditionalCharacter · 05/01/2021 15:53

Wednesdays are my day off every week, and I laze around, doing minimal, and get a McDonald's ubered in.

I'm gutted about lockdown as I'll not be doing it with the DC at home for the foreseeable.

AriesTheRam · 05/01/2021 15:54

I enjoy a non secret maccys every couple of weeks. Its my fave junk food.

AtLeastThreeDrinks · 05/01/2021 15:57

@QuestionableMouse Do you really think the McPlant won't launch this year? They did all the PR in November, seems weird to create hype and then not deliver. All I want is a decent veggie burger with the gherkins and pickles!

@CatVsChristmasTree Study the menu on your phone before you go! Then drive up, you either order at a machine and then they tell you which number window to go to, or you drive up to the first window, order, then to the second and collect your food. I believe in you!

dingit · 05/01/2021 15:58

DJ has just promised me drive through for my birthday. In normal times he's get a clip round the ear... 😂

CorianderBlues · 05/01/2021 16:00

Of course YANBU. In fact you're a beginner, if you're not knocking back a Big Mac Meal on the sly. Just don't come back to us with an AIBU when he moans about your bum getting bigger! Grin

WorraLiberty · 05/01/2021 16:00

Christ. Can someone buy PlanDeRaccordement a Happy Meal before they spread misery at an even faster rate than Covid? 🙈😂😂

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 05/01/2021 16:09

Yes I can see that there is a difference between eating it at every meal versus occasionally: It kills you slower.
But by all means, it’s your body, so your choice. Not trying to evangelise anyone here. Just expressing a different viewpoint.

I'd rather die younger having enjoyed myself than live life as a miserable git eating lettuce leaves!

pinkgin85 · 05/01/2021 16:13

I used to do this after every hospital appointment when I was pregnant last year. Was a lovely treat Grin

00100001 · 05/01/2021 16:15

@PlanDeRaccordement

And in the latest MN BatShittery news bulletin.

"Chicken, beef, bread and potatoes declared to not be food".

Confused

Given that we've still not got some normal menu items back, I'd be surprised if they launched any time soon. I hope I'm wrong but we're usually told a few months in advance about new launches and there's been zero said.

LobotheBotanist · 05/01/2021 16:37

Oh, I do this on and off

I spent my life looking after, and feeding others

To just order food for myself and eat it alone is great as a “mini holiday” Grin I would have a Big Mac with extra gherkins, cheese bites with bbq sauce, and chips . And then feel a bit dirty and fat, but happy Wink

nevernotstruggling · 05/01/2021 16:43

I too will be overjoyed when mcplant shows itself. I broke a few years of being vegetarian during covid out of desperation. Bag of fries doesn't cut it.

Sometimes the cheese bites are amaze. Sometimes they are ming.

LobotheBotanist · 05/01/2021 16:44

Yes, the mozzarella ones are rubbish, the other types usually better

AtLeastThreeDrinks · 05/01/2021 18:02

Ah that's true @QuestionableMouse, I've perhaps naively been clinging to the idea that it'll launch soon. I'm pg and very nearly broke a good few years of pescatarianism for a Big Mac a few months ago! The fillet o'fish does not agree with me. And you're right @nevernotstruggling, the fries are delicious but not the same as a giant burger!

kwiksavenofrillsusername · 05/01/2021 18:37

The veggie burger is shit but I quite like the spicy veggie wrap as it has salsa and jalapenos. I'd like a plant-based burger though, as I want to know whether they really do taste like meat. Apparently the fake whopper that Burger King did was quite good.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 05/01/2021 18:44

I used to do something similar when my boys were small and going to Beavers or Cubs. I had to drive to the nearest town (10 miles) to take them, so no point going home while they were there. Instead, I'd go and have a lime and soda or two in a pub and read my book. Sometimes I even took myself out for a quick meal in a little restaurant!

Clappingforjoy · 05/01/2021 18:47

Oh God thought I was the only one so comforting to know I'm not.

Nonamesavail · 05/01/2021 18:52

I want a big mac now

NCstaythefuckathome · 05/01/2021 18:53

Sneaky McDonald’s is life.

rosegoldwatcher · 05/01/2021 19:04

Why does a McDonald's meal always taste better in a car?
