To enjoy a secret McDonald's

Some times when I go to do the weekly shop, I'll stop and have a McDonald's on the way home. I sit in my car and listen to my audiobook whilst enjoying some chips or whatever.

We actually only live a few minutes away from this McDonald's so I technically could get everyone one, DH and the kids and take it home. But I don't mention it! 😂 I like the 20 mins to myself before going back. I know DH would probably think I was a right selfish cow if he knew, he likes a McDonald's every now and then and the kids well... Obviously they would.

Am I the worst wife and mother ever? Grin

I was prompted by this thread to order a lovely meal from Burger King last night. I thoroughly enjoyed it too! Thank you op for putting it in my mind (not McD's but same principle). It's good to have a treat sometimes and I believe a little of what you fancy does you good. It's so long since I've had anything like that. Yum!

@Kwiksavenofrillsusername Pretty sure I read McD's will use Beyond burgers. Until they grace us with the McPlant, you can buy them in Tesco – thoroughly recommend, they really do taste like meat to me (and my meat-eating partner loves them!).

And yep, the veggie burger is so shit. I've not tried the wrap. I have such Maccy's cravings now it may be time to give it a go.

The time to yourself could be well spent buying a coffee or other drink at a local independent cafe.

I love doing this. Not only with mcdonalds but take out coffee, a greggs pasty. Nothing beats the 20 minutes silence

I used to do this.

But our banking app now flags up when either of us spend anything on our phones, so he would know, and they don't take cash.

Before any says it, of course I could still do it, it isn't like dh has control, but the point was the sneaky secret part of it! Like being a kid playing truant from my actual life!

The app thing really annoys me actually.

Why in gods name do you have that app?

I leave for work massively early and sit in the Costa drive thru with a vanilla latte and mumsnet quite often (3 days a week usually!!)

I've had my secret McDonald's today followed by a bag of flips and a cup of tea and it was amazing.

This thread reminds me to never get a joint account with dp, Even though he wouldn't care in the slightest. It's the stealth that's enjoyable 😂

Why not have your McDonald's and audiobook treat etc but just be honest and upfront about it? You're not doing anything wrong by having 20-30 mins time for yourself and a little treat, but it sounds well shifty with hiding evidence and stuff. Strange attitude to have but it seems reading this post that lots of you lie about daft stuff Hmm
