We have been watching an old ‘Live at the Apollo’ hosted by Sarah Millican where she talks of ‘sniffing her leggings’ to see if she can get another day’s use out of them.

YABU - yes I sniff my leggings
YANBU - no I do not.

No I do not, I put a clean pair on everyday...never heard of that. The only item of clothing I sniff is DS blazer when he's at school to determine if it needs a wash.

ExclamationPerfume · 02/01/2021 19:34

Clean pair every day the same as all my clothes.

LoveMyKidsAndCats · 02/01/2021 19:35

I did this the other day 😂😂 I'd only had them on for 2 hours though while we went for a walk. Hung them back up 😂

Emeraldshamrock · 02/01/2021 19:36

No way.
My thinking is if you can smell a hint of stale vag others will too.
A colleague who obviously used the sniff trick test did she stank by noon.

BunTooti · 02/01/2021 19:37

Yeah, I gave mine a sniff before putting them on. Good to go Grin

Biancadelrioisback · 02/01/2021 19:39

I'll re-wear clothes if I only had them on for an HR or so the day before, or if it's a big, baggy jumper and I've hardly been out much, but things like leggings, knickers, socks, vest tops are all one day wear things.
Although I have been known to wear a bra perhaps one day longer than I should in the past...won't make that mistake again!

Fatladyslim · 02/01/2021 19:40

I do this with pj's Blush

PandemicPalava · 02/01/2021 19:42

Yeah I sniff test them! I don't believe in washing everything to death and try and get as much wear as possible out of clothes

I have never worn leggings. However, in a recent thread someone said she did this with items of clothing. She claimed to be doing it for the planet.
nosswith · 02/01/2021 19:49

Jeans are an alternative.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 02/01/2021 19:51

I sniff test most clothes. The exceptions are pants, socks and sportswear (wash after every wear)

PurpleFrames · 02/01/2021 19:53

I sniff test all clothes- since I moved to an eco-deodorant I have to wash clothes a lot more. I'm starting to wander if it wasn't economical after all.

Crunchymum · 02/01/2021 19:56

Where do you sniff??? Shock

PandemicPalava · 02/01/2021 19:57

@PurpleFrames I've just gone back to dove as my eco deodorant was causing so much washing!! I need to find aluminium free that works

Callipygion · 02/01/2021 19:57

Yes, and also armpit area on tops.

PandemicPalava · 02/01/2021 19:57

@Crunchymum everywhere

Your new deodorant is obviously not working for you in that case, shop around, I use eco brand ku.tis, its been brilliant. So much so mu not eco friendly builder DP has moved to the same brand.
DappledThings · 02/01/2021 19:58

I always wear leggings for two days without bothering to sniff them.

BubblyBarbara · 02/01/2021 20:00

Only my gussets

MuseumGardens · 02/01/2021 20:03

I wash after one wear things that are in direct contact with my feet, armpits and vajayjay, but wear pants so my trousers aren't in direct contact

user127819 · 02/01/2021 20:03

Only if I can't remember if they've been washed or not. I wouldn't wear leggings more than once before washing. Trousers / skirts I will wear a few times as they're less in contact with the skin.

RosesAndHellebores · 02/01/2021 20:04

I didn't have to do this before a post graduate, highly qualified midwife fucked up DS's birth. For years, until I had surgery privately, I only wore trousers or leggings with tena lady in place. More recently I've discussed anal sphincter surgery. It's such tremendous fun and not one person in the NHS has said "I am so sorry".

Perhaps have a little think about the reasons first op - with the greatest of respect.

BackforGood · 02/01/2021 20:04

Well, I don't wear leggings, but I
a) look at clothes - look dirty, put in wash.... if don't look dirty then, yes move to
b) sniff item

I learned this when my dc got to the stage of just scooping stuff up off the floor, whether they'd worn it or not.
There's no way I'm washing stuff that doesn't need washing - not good for the clothes themselves, not good for my electricity bills, not good for me wasting my time, long before any environmental considerations.

Oreservoir · 02/01/2021 20:04

I don't wear leggings.
They are hideous imo.

DontWalkPastTheCastle · 02/01/2021 20:05

Leggings no, they get washed after one wear.

Jeans on the other hand...
