To ask if you sniff your leggings?

We have been watching an old ‘Live at the Apollo’ hosted by Sarah Millican where she talks of ‘sniffing her leggings’ to see if she can get another day’s use out of them.

If you’d rather not comment, feel free just to vote below!

YABU - yes I sniff my leggings
YANBU - no I do not.

I don't wear them now but when I did I washed after single use. I remember being behind a woman on the tube once who was wearing them and stank of bum.

ThistlyPerf · 02/01/2021 21:51

@RosesAndHellebores

I didn't have to do this before a post graduate, highly qualified midwife fucked up DS's birth. For years, until I had surgery privately, I only wore trousers or leggings with tena lady in place. More recently I've discussed anal sphincter surgery. It's such tremendous fun and not one person in the NHS has said "I am so sorry".

Perhaps have a little think about the reasons first op - with the greatest of respect.

What happened - how did the midwife fuck up the birth?
ShirleyPhallus · 02/01/2021 21:53

@Diverseduvet

I sniff on an emergency to see if I can get away with it, but usually get one day only. This is since start of menopause. I also wear 2 pairs of knickers everyday to keep fresh.
Do you wear the knickers at the same time?
mrjuno · 02/01/2021 21:55

@DuchessofDerbyshire What do I know? I don't possess either of these evil and unladylike items of clothing. I'm just speculating.

GWLTM · 02/01/2021 22:04

I also use washable panty liners daily. So in theory my knickers don't smell either but do get washed daily.

But happily wear leggings a few days on the trot and will sniff them to see if they will go further.

Additionally have just switched to Wild deodorant and am worried I'm going to have a stinky armpit problem for the first time Sad

SweetPetrichor · 02/01/2021 22:05

I give everything the sniff test and only wash things that need it. There’s no need to wash everything constantly.

Bananabuddy3 · 02/01/2021 22:07

Yes I do Blush Although nowadays I tend to just wear leggings one day then change them - I have a draw of standard black leggings. Sports leggings oh yes because I’ve been exercising them.

I will sniff the armpits of a cardigan / jumper after use and see if I can do another day in it. Tops I will generally only use once.

Bananabuddy3 · 02/01/2021 22:08

What’s an eco deodorant? Sounds interesting!

I personally would like to find one that’s truthful when it says it won’t leave white marks. The amount of tops and dress’s with white arm puts I own is a right pain.

AChickenCalledDaal · 02/01/2021 22:10

I totally understand @RosesAndHellebores post and those of you who are mystified by it should be very grateful.

DuchessofDerbyshire · 02/01/2021 22:13

Are the frantic launderers the same women who shower only twice a week or whatever, as shown on this site?

If you think your gussets smell - and who's sticking their nose there anyway- you must have a 'thing' about your own natural (but not smelly) body.

I have a shower and a bath every day, I don't smell, I don't actually break into a sweat unless exercising, I change my knickers daily, my bra every 3-4 days (and it does not smell) and I wear wool jumpers a few times as I usually wear a T shirt or vest under them. In summer I might change my knickers twice if I'm going out in the evening.

Jeans get washed after several wearings. They do not smell because I can't bear tight crotches.

CottonHeadedNinyMuggins · 02/01/2021 22:16

No, unless I've only literally worn them for an hour to bring the online food shop etc - it's clean every day (clean underwear each time though)

This is because I have a health condition where I sweat profusely even in winter to the point where I am literally dripping from no exhertion whatsoever all over my body - even parts that 'allegedly' shouldn't - back, forearms, chest, stomach, thighs and calves etc. I absolutely hate it. No way I could get away with clothes for more than one day.

I take medicine to 'control' it but it's hit and miss if it works or not as I became immune to the medicine that did work after 18m of taking it so it still happens when I take the medicine but thankfully not to the extent it happens without it. Still wouldn't risk it.

Leggings are just comfy when you’re at home all the time due to the pandemic . I’m a size ten to twelve, five eight, and my 23 year old daughter is a size eight to ten, five foot nine, we both wear leggings at home, with t shirts, vests, jumpers etc. We don’t wear them to be fashionable. So fashionable or unfashionable is irrelevant to us. I can’t imagine dressing up at home every day to ge “ fashionable”

We wear them Just because rhey are more comfy than wearing jeans, trousers or a skirt. I guess like a more flattering look than jogging bottoms.

They aren’t like knickers, they are high quality thick leggings, and we wear underwear underneath. Neither of us wash them daily. Any more than we wash our jeans daily. But we both shower daily, wear clean under wear daily and don’t have any health issues that would cause our clothes to have unpleasant smells after one wear.

Sparrowfeeder · 02/01/2021 22:20

Leggings can go 2-3 days use if they pass the sniff test! I try not to overwash as bad for the environment. Clean underwear daily and my leggings are not particularly sweaty, might be different in summer to winter ofc.

Diverseduvet · 02/01/2021 22:32

Yes Shirley, 2 at once. Surprisingly quite comfy.

Nanny2many · 02/01/2021 22:41

never if I'm leaving the house. but if I'm at home at weekends (or during the week during lockdown i sometimes will ). i think even if they dont smell when you sniff them, theres something about body heat that re activates the pong.

Diverseduvet · 02/01/2021 22:43

I agree with that Nanny2many. They may smell fine in the morning but once warmed up with body heat smells that seem to lurk in the fabric are released.

MuseumGardens · 02/01/2021 22:56

You don't have to wait til the next morning to check them

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 02/01/2021 22:58

Smelt of bum Grin lol

Why are people's legging going baggy? That doesn't happen to me. If I've gone for a run or worn all day, rare, I'll wash them. Otherwise I'll get a few wears. Jeans hardly need a sniff do they? I wear them plenty before I wash.

I have tried a selection of eco deodorant none have worked, Inc Jason so it's sure 48h for me.

randomsabreuse · 02/01/2021 23:06

Mine go baggy on the waist and knees as those are the bits that probably ideally need the size down but my calves and thighs would be too big. DC's leggings are too big pretty well everywhere except length, so don't work for 2 wears.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 02/01/2021 23:08

Oh weird. Some of mine are only Tesco but this doesn't happen. That's annoying.

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 02/01/2021 23:12

@Crunchymum

Where do you sniff??? Shock
The ankle hems.

Where do you think?

I don't sniff mine, they just come off & go in the wash. I have plenty of pairs and don't put on worn, close fit, clothes.

TiddyTid · 02/01/2021 23:35

Crotch sniffers and pheasant farters tonight then 😂

dottiedaisee · 02/01/2021 23:38

Lillipops · 02/01/2021 23:40
