To ask if you sniff your leggings?

We have been watching an old ‘Live at the Apollo’ hosted by Sarah Millican where she talks of ‘sniffing her leggings’ to see if she can get another day’s use out of them.

YABU - yes I sniff my leggings

Next time I'm in Primark I'll buy more leggings in honour of Partayyy who sounds unhinged

If you feel grubby in your clothes enough to shower, then your clothes are grubby enough to clean too

Love my leggings. Sports or casual. Pretty much the most flattering items in my wardrobe.
Don't sniff them though. Usually just one day wear but sometimes two if I've had an inactive day and/or not going out at all.

I like leggings but only with long top or dress. After a certain age, not a good look to flash the snatch.
Exception ... exercise or if your as firm as a rock.

I'm not

I wash our clothes after 2 days of wear but if we’ve been doing dirty jobs I wash them immediately.

These type of posts really show why the planet is in the state it is! I can’t believe some people are washing clean & non smelly clothes during lockdown when they aren’t even going anywhere!! I work from home, so unless my tops/leggings are blatantly dirty or smelly I’m wearing them 2-3 days in a row, I don’t go out in them as I put on jeans or trousers then, and I shower every day. I’m saving the planet, my electricity bill, and my time!

The funniest thing about this is the outrage at some responses that they might sniff their clothes/wear them for more than a day 😂 I think we found a global warming source!

I only wear them for exercise. They get sweaty, so clean on every time.

Omg do most people not wash once if not twice s day and wear fresh clothes or nightwear daily!? And wash clothes that have been worn! This thread is gross, not the worst one I've read ever but I have never heard of sniffing clothes (fir what reason) surely it's pure hygiene to wash yourself and wear clean clothes, isnt that what we teach our children.

Yea they wash that's why their leggings wouldn't need washed after one wear.

Frightening the amount of unnecessary washing taking place. People seem to be treating their clothes like their bodies Bodies have pores and sweat so need regular washing. Clothes are not dirty or smelly after a wear or two, generally, plus clothes last much longer when not over washed. I teach my children not to throw clothes in the laundry unnecessarily. Underwear and socks yes, after that, decision made depending on the clothes and level of activity.

but clothes can still harbour germs no matter how clean you are as far as im concerned, that's why especially with covid if you wear clothes outside you should change as soon as in and put them in wash. Even pre covid going to hospitals etc I would change when I got in. Surely your home is clean you are clean and your clothes should be clean for anyone. I know I'm probably in a minority re environmental issues but you can use certain washes and liquids etc. Just my opinion anyway, not necessarily same as many posters as I've read, but lol have never thought of sniffing clothes, they get worn and go in wash, I didn't know this was a thing but each to their own.

The only other thing I dont get though is how everyone is saying they smell so bad!? I.e they sniff their leggings and underneath smells WHY??? If you wash and are clean you shouldn't smell?

A designer, cant recall which, said he hadn't washed his favourite Jean's in ten years.
Apparently it spoils them.
Not sure I'd go that far.
Must admit, PLEASE DONT JUDGE I've worn a dress and hung it on the line to air if dry cleaning only.
Is that gross maybe, too God damn expensive to dry clean each time.

Well considering we are being constantly told to wear masks, wash hands etc and we haven't been told it lives on materials (bar plastic/metal) I don't worry too much. But aside from covid, worrying about germs in general on your clothes is a bit OTT. We are constantly washing BTW so I can't imagine the houses of the wash all clothes daily tribe.
I heard that re the jeans designer also.

I sniff test most clothes. The only things I automatically wash after one wear are knickers, socks, tights and sports gear.

Yes I can imagine some people getting their rocks off on this thread. The same type of people who buy unwashed clothes online
