Kind of laughing. Kind of annoyed. Figured out why the virus is spreading though...

Pointed out that visiting multiple shops for non essential items was poor form in Tier 4. Also said if people actually needed food and couldn't access it I could help with referrals.

I mean are we all going to multiple shops looking for stollen bites, cocoa nibs and gingerbread houses?

Is anyone actually taking Tier 4 seriously?

YANBU - Taking it seriously
YABU - Not taking it seriously, visiting five shops for non essential items is fine.

(Daily Mail Journos - feel free to join the group for your scoop - it's like overheard in waitrose on steroids)

onlythepianoplayer · 22/12/2020 09:31

YABU. If you're shopping, you're shopping. It doesn't make fuck all difference if you're in waitrose for essential stollen or in asda for sprouts.

FestertheJester · 22/12/2020 09:33

Agreed - if you only go to one or the other.

Not five freaking shops in a day because you cannot find a non-essential item?

Passmeabottlemrjones · 22/12/2020 09:33

Non-essential shops are closed in Tier 4?

Or do you mean going to different supermarkets to pick up stuff that isn't bread and milk?

Why did you get banned?

Yokey · 22/12/2020 09:34

Yabu

If you're trying to police other people's shopping practices, don't be surprised if they don't want to listen to you.

AdobeWanKenobi · 22/12/2020 09:34

Oh. Another Covid police thread.
As you were.

FestertheJester · 22/12/2020 09:35

So supermarkets / food stores etc - multiple trips to many of those because obviously gingerbread houses ran out about two weeks ago here.

Banned because I questioned admin (on why it's not ok to ask this in Tier 4 but in Tier 2 it was fine for people to share snitching videos in the group...)

CatholicKidston · 22/12/2020 09:36

People just need to calm down about Christmas. Does it really matter if you don't have a gingerbread house or M&S pre cooked red cabbage. Having said that the sales have now started so there will be lots of non essential shopping going on anyway.

LolaSmiles · 22/12/2020 09:36

YABU. If you're shopping, you're shopping. It doesn't make fuck all difference if you're in waitrose for essential stollen or in asda for sprouts
When the whole point is to reduce interactions and limit outings then it's fairly bloody obvious that doing your food shop is different from having a leisurely peruse of several shops.

Then again in the first lockdown there were people arguing that it was obviously essential to have family outings to the shop if one person fancied an ice cream and that people living in rural areas should be grateful for everyone trying to pile in from across the country. 🤷‍♀️

Government handling has been a joke, but there's also a hell of a lot of people who think they are just so super special.

Passmeabottlemrjones · 22/12/2020 09:36

Meh - I just can't get worked up about this. This is a shit Christmas, who cares if you go into 3 or 4 shops, masked up with hand gel, to get some bits that might bring a bit of joy? I don't think this is what is going to be spreading the virus.

But harsh to ban you though, if you werent rude or anything!

Aprilx · 22/12/2020 09:36

Non essential retail is closed. If a shop is open I think I can go in without breaching Tier 4 rules.

FestertheJester · 22/12/2020 09:37

@CatholicKidston - exactly my thoughts. Why put you and others at risk for something that is so not essential.

Thanks for the biscuits guys!

How will you cope with being banned from such a dull group?

Covidiot · 22/12/2020 09:38

And there’s the problem beautifully put by onlythepianoplayer

She doesn’t understand. If people only limited their trips out for essential items then it would help curtail spread.

So: weekly Essential food shop in Tesco and pick up stollen bites at same time - no problem

Vs

Out to get a gingerbread house, sparkly table lights (MC compliant of course) and other Christmas non-essential delights. Fucking stupid.

January is going to be a horror show here.

Harryfrog12 · 22/12/2020 09:38

Actually yanbu and im someone who would possibly be classed as not taking it seriously. I have cut my shopping habits by about 80% infact everything by 80% however, i have still seen a couple of close friends and my family which is against the rules. Ive been in tier 3 for a good while. I go to shops but plan it so im going to one or two and not here there and everywhere. It is unnecessary. If they dont have it I dont have it. Its not the end of the world. I think 'essential shopping' somehow makes people feel safe

vodkaredbullgirl · 22/12/2020 09:38

You welcome lol, feeling hungry might have to pop to the shops.

LolaSmiles · 22/12/2020 09:39

Banned because I questioned admin (on why it's not ok to ask this in Tier 4 but in Tier 2 it was fine for people to share snitching videos in the group...)
Because in tier 2 said yummy mummies could go about their lives with relative ease and gain bonus points for whining on Facebook with equally yummy mummies.

But now they face Christmas without an artisan gingerbread house Christmas is ruined.

xmasfairybuns · 22/12/2020 09:39

Yanbu

TheVanguardSix · 22/12/2020 09:39

Sorry, but you sound like you could start a fight in an empty room.
It's a Covid Christmas in tier 4 and it sucks. If loving gingerbread houses is wrong, I don't want to be right. Let 'em eat stollen. It's all pretty depressing right now unless you're the Gestapo.

Passmeabottlemrjones · 22/12/2020 09:39

It's starting to feel like March again where the arguments about what constitutes 'essential' were rife! (Who remembers the 'milk isn't really an essential, you can live without it' posts!)

What is spreading the virus is people, like in the thread a few days ago, who go to Tesco with other members of their household, two days after getting a positive test!!!!

Mylittleturkeysandwich · 22/12/2020 09:42

I regularly have to visit multiple shops in a trip. Especially just now when things are out of stock. I went to 2 supermarkets last week to find vodka! An essential you'll agree.

Orf1abc · 22/12/2020 09:43

There's no evidence that the virus is spreading through shopping, not to any meaningful extent. It sounds like you were trying to cause an argument, hence you being kicked out.

There's sod all joy at the moment. If getting the right stollen bites makes someone happy, then let them be.

MynephewR · 22/12/2020 09:44

I'm in tier 4. I'll go to as many shops as I bloomin well like Confused

For the millionth time on here...... MYOB!

TheVanguardSix · 22/12/2020 09:44

Thanks for the biscuits guys!

Have another Biscuit.
They're artisan. Sorry, but you live in the most 'first world problem' part of the country. Have all the biscuits.

vodkaredbullgirl · 22/12/2020 09:44

Yesterday I went to 3 supermarkets, Aldi, Sainsbury and Asda.

PP yes vodka is an essential lol
