Kind of laughing. Kind of annoyed. Figured out why the virus is spreading though...

Pointed out that visiting multiple shops for non essential items was poor form in Tier 4. Also said if people actually needed food and couldn't access it I could help with referrals.

I mean are we all going to multiple shops looking for stollen bites, cocoa nibs and gingerbread houses?

Is anyone actually taking Tier 4 seriously?

YANBU - Taking it seriously
YABU - Not taking it seriously, visiting five shops for non essential items is fine.

(Daily Mail Journos - feel free to join the group for your scoop - it's like overheard in waitrose on steroids)

And on here are your answers as to the virus is so easily spreading

This was my week off to do my Christmas shopping and get presents I can’t It could be far worse I got what we need in one shop (but it wasn’t all that I wantEd)

But that’s the way it is Christmas is pretty rubbish this year but why the fuck would I be so stupid to drag myself around shops and put myself and family at risk it’s utter stupidity

FestertheJester · 22/12/2020 10:54

@OhWhyNot Exactly.

I am in Hampstead mums and it is honestly completely bonkers! The vast majority of members have no grip on reality at all.

There was a breakaway group "real Hampstead mums" created by a bitter ex HM group member called Kimberley, who also got banned from the original group and her group was even more ridiculous than the original!!

Lots of people with too much time on their hands in that area I think!

quest1on · 22/12/2020 10:55

@Topseyt if you read the thread you will see my main issue was gingerbread houses.”

Ok, so this is your “main issue” here. I see.

You know OP, there are miiions of people, such as me, who are vegetarian or vegan and would therefore deem the whole whole hoo-haa thst is repeated every year - that everyone MUST suddenly buy dead turkeys or geese or sausages in bacon as “unnecessary” to say the least. But you just have to accept that, for most people, this is what they feel the need to do. You can’t take to social media and start dictating.

Give me a gingerbread house any day of the week, as opposed to the other disgusting (in my view) stuff people feel the need to stuff their fridges with. There are more important issues.

OhWhyNot · 22/12/2020 10:57

As for it’s none of your business remarks

It is all of our business because this awful virus is impacting all our lives

(And yes well aware and agree there are at times exceptions)

ThePluckOfTheCoward · 22/12/2020 10:57

YANBU Op. The sooner someone invents a vaccine in the UK for dumb stupidity the better.

FestertheJester · 22/12/2020 10:57

@yomommasmomma shhhh if you are a HM you are not allowed to talk about Real Hampstead Mums. You must know that is the golden rule!

I have met some absolutely lovely people from HMs but this decision just seems bonkers to me.

ChequerBoard · 22/12/2020 11:00

YANBU, it's this 'oh but surely it's OK for me to do X, Y and Z' attitude that has led to this point.

Allispretty · 22/12/2020 11:02

Yawn another covid police thread...do you women literally have nothing better to do?

HitthatroadJack · 22/12/2020 11:02

@Topseyt

Did you suggest that people in the group should put cheese in their morning coffee instead of non-essential milk?

I'm just about to make myself a coffee. Should I put cheese in it? Along with my one teaspoon of sugar?

Pretty sure most households in the UK have electricity and have access to a marvellous modern invention called a fridge, allowing you to store milk and not need to pop to the shops every few hours.
FestertheJester · 22/12/2020 11:03

Exactly - I have had to walk to medical appointments in Hampstead, have had to go to a supermarket (as no slots for the last three weeks), taken every precaution I could have done but when others aren't it massively puts me at risk (and I am CEV).

I do do food deliveries on my bike - special set up, but it is safe and part of my daily exercise. I do it because I know what it is like to have absolutely no money or access to food (pre pandemic).

toomuchtooold · 22/12/2020 11:09

I don't know why they aren't baking their own gingerbread houses tbh. Mary Berry even has a recipe ffs. And the kids can help! Of course, if the kids help, you tend to end up with something less instagram-ready and more fit to be condemned by the council...

quest1on · 22/12/2020 11:11

OP, if you want to start a thread about your deliveries or homelessness in London then by all means, you should do that. Threads like this won’t help the homeless.

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 22/12/2020 11:12

‘You women’

Thats a bit rude

What women?

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 22/12/2020 11:13

They just misjudge the distances they have to swim

So incredibly stupid rather than suicidal

Xenia · 22/12/2020 11:14

I assumed it was a post by a man (you women)!

OhWhyNot · 22/12/2020 11:14

Well I’m on holiday from work now

Apart from going for a walk in the park later there isn’t much else to do

So like yourself Allispretty I am posting on MN

FestertheJester · 22/12/2020 11:15

@quest1on This isn't a thread to help the homeless - can you not read the OP?

It's a thread to point out the bonkers situation of people putting others at risk over a gingerbread house / stolen bites / coco freaking nibs and visiting multiple supermarkets (not local shops) to get these non essential items.

OP posts:
RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 22/12/2020 11:16

Sounds like it

Like men don’t complain about this sort of stuff

Apparently our local Facebook group is packed full of men and women complaining

Coukd have meant the hampstead women specifically I guess 🤔

@Allispretty

Yawn another covid police thread...do you women literally have nothing better to do?
"You women"?

And what's the 'literally' about? I'm not sure it means what you think it does.

Zilla1 · 22/12/2020 11:21

Jocasta and I agree, OP, though she insists on saying 'gonnections', possibly a throwback to some of her bedtime reading. I'd originally wanted to call her Zelda though MIL put her foot down and my silly DH agreed with her. Fortunately, MIL was happy with Jocasta.

FestertheJester · 22/12/2020 11:23

@Zilla1 Jocasta is the most perfect name.

Would she like to do the interview with the local hampstead rag on this thread? Public speaking, confidence and all that...

OP posts:
Heartlantern2 · 22/12/2020 11:24

If it’s open what’s the problem shopping there. What do you consider non essential?

Non essential shops are closed
