Kind of laughing. Kind of annoyed. Figured out why the virus is spreading though...

Pointed out that visiting multiple shops for non essential items was poor form in Tier 4. Also said if people actually needed food and couldn't access it I could help with referrals.

I mean are we all going to multiple shops looking for stollen bites, cocoa nibs and gingerbread houses?

Is anyone actually taking Tier 4 seriously?

YANBU - Taking it seriously
YABU - Not taking it seriously, visiting five shops for non essential items is fine.

YABU- we’re all trying to do our best and you don’t know what those biscuits mean to a family. It’s not exactly gold taps. Most of us are struggling to provide a magical Christmas for our kids in what ever shape or form. You seem to enjoy sanctimonious judgement and that says more about you than it does other families trying to make this year a positive experience. I hope you take the time out to reflect on why judging people who value different things to you makes you feel so superior. Merry Christmas

Of course YANBU.
No-one needs a particular sort of cake or biscuit to make one day of the year 'magical'.

Mind you, I reckon trotting round 4 or 5 shops in search of some specific item is bonkers even in normal times.

YABU. If you're shopping, you're shopping. It doesn't make fuck all difference if you're in waitrose for essential stollen or in asda for sprouts When the whole point is to reduce interactions and limit outings then it's fairly bloody obvious that doing your food shop is different from having a leisurely peruse of several shops.

Then again in the first lockdown there were people arguing that it was obviously essential to have family outings to the shop if one person fancied an ice cream and that people living in rural areas should be grateful for everyone trying to pile in from across the country. 🤷‍♀️

Government handling has been a joke, but there's also a hell of a lot of people who think they are just so super special.

Spot on. I work in a small supermarket and the people coming just for ice cream first time round, because it got them out nearly finished me off. The stress of dealing with that every day makes you realise that to most people nobody else matters.

@ShatnersWig

My girlfriend has intolerance for lactose and gluten. Are you suggesting if Sainsbury's doesn't have the necessary free from items, she should starve rather than go to another shop for them?
That's clearly not what the op is saying.
