Kind of laughing. Kind of annoyed. Figured out why the virus is spreading though...

Pointed out that visiting multiple shops for non essential items was poor form in Tier 4. Also said if people actually needed food and couldn't access it I could help with referrals.

I mean are we all going to multiple shops looking for stollen bites, cocoa nibs and gingerbread houses?

Is anyone actually taking Tier 4 seriously?

YANBU - Taking it seriously
YABU - Not taking it seriously, visiting five shops for non essential items is fine.

(Daily Mail Journos - feel free to join the group for your scoop - it's like overheard in waitrose on steroids)

Fuck me, we're back to March and the frothing over "non-essential items".

What a bunch of judgey arses there are around.

PrincessBuggerPants · 22/12/2020 10:36

To the posters telling everybody to calm down: If you are repeatedly having to pathologise others' reactions to a global pandemic by labelling it 'fear-based' etc, you are likely to be the one with a problem.

quest1on · 22/12/2020 10:36

Also it would appear that IKEA is indeed closed except for pick-up of pre-ordered goods such you are talking utter fraff here and trying to make a drama out of something that only exists in your head.

LimitIsUp · 22/12/2020 10:37

I am taking is seriously but don't think its my job to lecture other people. I am not surprised that you got banned

FestertheJester · 22/12/2020 10:37

@TinyTear maybe so - if you read my posts in the group you will understand why I do foodbank deliveries and refuge collections (maybe you missed the ones where I just got out of a hostel and was asking about a woman who experienced DV?)

OP posts:
TinyTear · 22/12/2020 10:38

No one said the crepe queues were acceptable to be honest, and people were also complaining about the buskers - like the horrible singing woman with the light up hula hoops - busking should definitely not have been allowed as people were congregating...

FestertheJester · 22/12/2020 10:39

@quest1on - feel free to join Hampstead Mums and see the posts

nice video of people in crepes as well

i know someone who just managed to move from England's Lane, so I am also well aware of it.

I'm not saying Hampstead Mums is perfect and I also roll eyes at people posting there sometimes.

But what I am taking issue is you coming here to a separate site and stirring shite...

FestertheJester · 22/12/2020 10:40

@TinyTear exactly the point I am making.

Those posts were allowed to stay (with videos, showing people and children - particularly the party one)

Yet I have been turfed (and you know i did not share any videos) for pointing out people should consider what essential is?

OP posts:
queenofknives · 22/12/2020 10:40

God. Can't imagine how annoying you'd have to be to get banned from 'Hampstead Mums'!! Surely you did some world-class trolling to trigger that.

YABVU. Leave people alone to enjoy their christmas as they see fit! And have a happy one yourself!

Zilla1 · 22/12/2020 10:42

Thanks for the offer, OP. Jocasta adapts the design of the gingerbread house as part of her trajectory to her architecture practice. Her fair-trade chocolate designs for the outside show talent as part of her fine art gig. I've read her fairy and folk tales from around the world so her gingerbread house aesthetic doesn't fall within the racist, misogynist and anti-pagan narrative of the Hansel and Gretel paradigm. I'll make sure she focuses on hard academics while appearing to support her obvious artistic gifts. I know I need to raise my game to make sure she hasn't fallen behind.

FestertheJester · 22/12/2020 10:42

I appreciate you may not like it, if you don't move along. I have just cheered myself up massively. Had admin bothered to contact me, or reply to me, I probably wouldn't have posted here - but nope, just turfed (whilst all those videos are still there).

I see both sides. I avoid making any unnecessary trips, BUT, if I am out in a shopping centre (tomorrow will be the second time in 10 months), then I'm already out. And in the centre itself. So I don't see the difference. Tomorrow I have a medical specialist appointment, I have to go this time, I can't get out of it- already cancelled twice and my GP won't be happy, and it is in the huge shopping centre itself. Then when I get out, I'll be doing my Christmas shopping, and yes, that will mean going to a few different stores within the same complex to get groceries, meat, wine, etc, and the pet specialist store to get some more flea drops for my cat, some newspapers at the news agents, etc.

But it is all within the one shopping complex, and I am there already, I have no choice to enter the shopping complex, so I am not going to go home. Go back out again, etc.

I don't think you should have been banned though. I think people need to take precautions, and I will be with several masks in my bag, etc. And, it will only be the second time in 10 months I have been outside my small town, it's a 50 minute drive, so obviously I am going to get as much done as I can on the one day.

Kalula · 22/12/2020 10:43

Actually, no, second time in just under 12 months, actually.

Topseyt · 22/12/2020 10:44

Did you suggest that people in the group should put cheese in their morning coffee instead of non-essential milk?

I'm just about to make myself a coffee. Should I put cheese in it? Along with my one teaspoon of sugar?

Chuckleknuckles · 22/12/2020 10:44

YABU. Am in tier 4 and not taking it seriously. That said I haven’t been into any shops since we went into to tier 4 but mainly because It’s rained non stop since we went in.

FestertheJester · 22/12/2020 10:44

@Zilla1 as I said publicly in a Hampstead Mums post for a very lovely mum - don't focus on the academics - let them be kids and ensure they make connections.

I think you need the same advice for Jocasta to be honest. Academics, Gifted, Talented - means nothing if you don't have connections...

OP posts:
FestertheJester · 22/12/2020 10:45

@Topseyt if you read the thread you will see my main issue was gingerbread houses.

OP posts:
quest1on · 22/12/2020 10:46

But what are you actually saying here OP? That people should just go and do a big shop, once and once only? That you are only allowed to buy items from one supermarket in one go? Anything that you personally don’t want / need / like should be deemed “non-essential?” What is it exactly that you want here? And why do you assume the moral high ground?

Oooohbehave · 22/12/2020 10:46

YABU. I'd have banned you too

Chuckleknuckles · 22/12/2020 10:47

PS I was in Hampstead Mums’ for a while. I left because it was dull. Join Kensington Mums’ instead. It’s also fairly dull but you’ll get the same dull shit in there too.

FestertheJester · 22/12/2020 10:47

@quest1on i think going to multiple shops to find a gingerbread house is quite frankly idiotic in the current climate.

It's pretty clear that that is what I am saying.

OP posts:
SweetLoveOfCod · 22/12/2020 10:47

YABU. Do what you think’s best, and unless they’re going round blowing bubbles and licking doorknobs round north London, don’t hector other people on what they should do.

You may think it’s justified because it affects you, but it’s really none of your business. Complain to your partner or a friend about it if you feel so moved to comment.

StCharlotte · 22/12/2020 10:48

@CatholicKidston

People just need to calm down about Christmas. Does it really matter if you don't have a gingerbread house or M&S pre cooked red cabbage. Having said that the sales have now started so there will be lots of non essential shopping going on anyway.
Agreed.

I haven't been able to shop for the last fortnight because I've been self-isolating. DH is going when he finishes work tomorrow, poor bastard.

However, we already have pigs in blankets, bread sauce and a litre bottle of Bailey's so, even if he can't get anything else, we'll be fine!

tara66 · 22/12/2020 10:49

YANBU - British public appear to be uncontrollable and I was going to say - acting like lemmings but have just learnt lemmings do not actually throw themselves off cliffs into the sea and drown. They just misjudge the distances they have to swim.
