Carrie Bradshaw - A CF, right?

Nikhedonia · 29/11/2020 20:09

She's a pretty self-obsessed shit friend, but a CF too, right?

I rewatched an episode the other day where she needed to buy her apartment and she expected Charlotte to sell her engagement ring to fund the purchase Shock

I reckon if SATC were real, Miranda or Charlotte would be on MN gushing about their best friend being incredible and everyone would be calling Carrie a CF and advising them to go NC.

For I remember watching that episode and thinking what an entitled little arsehole she is! She really is quite a horrible person when you watch it back!

Dilemmmmma · 29/11/2020 20:11

Yanbu. She's horrible!

FrontRowSeat · 29/11/2020 20:11

And when Charlotte refused, Carrie got really arsey with her! CF.

thedaytodayyesterday · 29/11/2020 20:14

She is awful. Why miranda asked her to be her birth partner is completely beyond me. Why not lovely Steve?
Worst Carrie moment for me was when Charlotte gets engaged to Harry and Carrie just goes on and ON about her post it break up. "this has to be the day something else happened" IT ALREADY IS! YOUR BF GOT ENGAGED! no? Oh no wait, it has to be something happen TO YOU or else it doesn't count.

MarchionessofActon · 29/11/2020 20:14

Don’t forget when she leaves Miranda sitting alone at a bar just because Big got some veal in.

And how she expected Auden to be cool with Big crashing his woodland weekend getaways.

Boulshired · 29/11/2020 20:15

It I remember rightly the other two offered help and she didn’t accept and instead got angry with Charlotte for not offering, then guilt tripped her into it and the accepted it. She actually ended up with what she deserved bloody awful Big.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 29/11/2020 20:15

I couldn't watch all of it. I always wanted to like it because on paper it was my sort of thing, but Carrie, was just so unlikeable.
I also didn't like how Miranda got blamed for her husband's infidelity. She was so good with his mum, who had dementia and then he shots on her like that and the writers blame her!
Carrie was horrible to that guy she was engaged to before Big. I only felt for her when Big stood her up at their wedding.

thedaytodayyesterday · 29/11/2020 20:16

Carrie never ever showed Charlotte any empathy when she was going through her divorce

Nikhedonia · 29/11/2020 20:21

It's always all about Carrie. Miranda is struggling with what appears to be PND. Carrie comes over, chats about Nina Katz and "the face" and because Miranda can't concentrate fully as Brady can't latch Carrie decides she's leaving. When Miranda asks her to stay, she's like "no, you're a mother now" and makes it sound like she's doing Miranda a favour. She absolutely wasn't though. She was just furious that her interaction with Nina's face wasn't more important to Miranda than Brady getting his lunch Hmm

All the characters are fucking awful. Yes she is a cf

MarchionessofActon · 29/11/2020 20:26

I love it when she’s sadly mooching around Paris with a face like a slapped arse in her ridiculous take on ‘Parisian‘ outfits. She doesn’t go to a single museum or gallery, or enjoy the amazing hotel, just bleats about everything after about 24 hours.

SebastianTheCrab · 29/11/2020 20:27

When I rewatched it after many years I realised Carrie turns literally every convo back to herself. Completely self obsessed.

Having said that Emily in Paris has made me desperate to re-watch SATC but I can't find it on streaming! Where are you watching it?

PicsInRed · 29/11/2020 20:27

She was Big's OW and she and The Girls had zero empathy (other than how she felt it all made her look) for the wife - including when the wife found Carrie at the family home, chased Carrie out, wife tripped and broke her front tooth out. The marriage then ended in divorce, and the wife was heartbroken.

The 90s must have been quite narcissistic 🤔 because that show really hasn't aged well.

Toilettripping · 29/11/2020 20:28

@thedaytodayyesterday beat me to it. The post-it episode makes me cringe.... poor Charlotte deserved better.

Samantha was the OG girl boss though. Carrie is 100% a CF and weak.

Mycircusmymonkey · 29/11/2020 20:28

I believes it’s on Amazon prime or Netflix can’t remember which but I only have those two so it’s one of the other!

PoorMansPaulaRadcliffe · 29/11/2020 20:30

I appreciate the accepted revisionist view is that SATC was a pile of shit, but I still really enjoyed it. I thought SJP did a pretty good job of making a fundamentally unlikeable character, quite sympathetic. She was vile in that episode, though.

PatchworkElmer · 29/11/2020 20:31

YANBU, she was awful about the apartment thing!

SebastianTheCrab · 29/11/2020 20:31

When I checked Amazon it wanted to charge me for the episodes despite the fact I have prime. Will check again now.

Blufandango · 29/11/2020 20:33

And suddenly she realised that the world
was revolving around her; and she wondered why no one else seemed to notice. All the people in her life had so many, meaningless, distractions when they should have been focussed on the single most important thing, her. At that moment she resolved never to let anyone forget just how important she was Smile

Mycircusmymonkey · 29/11/2020 20:34

Hmm maybe it’s not on prime at the moment I think I watched it earlier in the year. I think they seem to rotate what’s available on prime as I couldn’t watch the handmaids tale last year without paying but it’s on prime now

MarchionessofActon · 29/11/2020 20:35

It was astounding she never ended up typing; ‘later that day, I got to thinking, that I’m an over-dramatic self centred cheeky fucker and my friends would be just fine without me’

flaviaritt · 29/11/2020 20:36

Can’t bear her.

But now I’m watching Pulp Fiction and CB’s capacity to irritate me does not compare to that of the most irritating character ever to grace a TV screen: Fabienne.

No, I don't think SATC is shit. I think Carrie is a shit friend to the other girls and a CF to boot.
