I probably need to back away from my screen - but is it just me or has this weekend seen the most ott responses to threads and everyday stuff ever?

I think perhaps lockdown is getting to people - but without mentioning specific threads I’ve seen the biggest over reactions ever on threads.

This isn’t a “MN” is going downhill thing, more Aibu to think that responses are suddenly absolutely mental.

(Semi- lighthearted).

lock down loopiness seems to be getting to mners, if some of us met in rl there would be fisty cuffs and handbags at 10 yards.
there have been several people on threads this evening i could quite happily lob custard pies at.

thenightsky · 08/11/2020 20:43

MN doesn't reflect real life where I am. Its on-line entertainment.

wellthatsunusual · 08/11/2020 20:44

I'd love pointed towards them because I was thinking it has been ages since I've seen a good over the top crying and shaking thread. I've been finding it dull recently.

katy1213 · 08/11/2020 20:47

It has got very boring - but there's nothing on telly.

7Days · 08/11/2020 20:47

You're right it is.
But I have to take some if the blame as I'm making plenty of snippy comments and getting it back.
Dont like it at all

MLMbotsgoaway · 08/11/2020 20:49

@wellthatsunusual I don’t want to do any TAATs but there are bunfights galore (over what seem like quite innocuous subjects).

I've eye rolled a lot this last week.

For the first time ever I've also been able to spot blatant spamming of the boards by political bots/ paid posters. It's been quite unnerving.

Sparklingbrook · 08/11/2020 20:52

It’s all very entertaining and fascinating. COVID has certainly pressed everyone’s buttons. Much discussion of ‘the rules’ and ‘the law’. Hard to take much of it too seriously.

I'm off to search. I need some entertainment Grin

Fischliweiss · 08/11/2020 20:55

Nah its always been fucking bonkers!

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 08/11/2020 20:56

Yes - everything is a red flag at the moment . Any male between 6 and 106 is abusive and controlling if they so much as look at you funny

Yes, I'd agree with this.
MLMbotsgoaway · 08/11/2020 20:57

It’s all very villagers with pitchforks.

OP posts:
Littleideasbigbook · 08/11/2020 20:58

It used to be weirder tbh, but in a funny way. There was two posters called iCOD and Getorfmoiland who cracked me up. Not much makes me laugh out loud on here.

Where are these threads? Are they funny haha or funny eh?

Littleideasbigbook · 08/11/2020 20:59

*There were two posters Blush

Yes. Where are all the sobbing and shaking threads? I'm missing screaming at the Sistine Chapel ceiling type stuff.
picklemewalnuts · 08/11/2020 20:59

Lots of pitchforks.

And in inappropriate places. I don't mind a bit of bluntness, but it's more like a feeding frenzy at times. And I've never gone in for the 'Mumsnet is getting very nasty' type threads.

Sparklingbrook · 08/11/2020 21:00

When you open MN Talk it’s very much a case of ‘what now?’ in the Coronavirus topic. Just when you think every angle has been analysed.

MLMbotsgoaway · 08/11/2020 21:01

I’ve even seen a lovely thread about kittens derailed! I’m trying not to mention anything specific as don’t want to re-kick them off.

OP posts:
rocketspin · 08/11/2020 21:03

The recent thread from a poster who was struggling with getting a shopping voucher from her DCs school was MN at it's worst, a real bunfight with some posters making Donald Trump look compassionate.
It wasn't like that when it was all fields.

MLMbotsgoaway · 08/11/2020 21:03

@Sparklingbrook I was amused though that the carpet thread from 2012 was resurrected and pretty much one of the first posts was “Abu is a carpet fitter in your house during lockdown” Grin

Had it been resurrected again? I love that thread! 😂

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 08/11/2020 21:07

I dont think its as bad as it was just after the Brexit referendum.

Littleideasbigbook · 08/11/2020 21:08

The one about being Jo Public being miserable towards kids is an eye opener. There are a lot of people who don't like children, a lot of people doing the smug 'I am a better parent than you' and trying to shame the OP for her DC playing out. Odd, for a parenting forum!
