Is is just me or has MN reached peak craziness

I probably need to back away from my screen - but is it just me or has this weekend seen the most ott responses to threads and everyday stuff ever?

I think perhaps lockdown is getting to people - but without mentioning specific threads I’ve seen the biggest over reactions ever on threads.

This isn’t a “MN” is going downhill thing, more Aibu to think that responses are suddenly absolutely mental.

(Semi- lighthearted).

Bwlch
I think it’s become full of a lot of people that just want an argument tbh.

No it hasn't.
Oh yes it has

Did you mean to be so rude? I'm sobbing and shaking now.

MLMbotsgoaway · 08/11/2020 21:46

@WorraLiberty it’s more like posters are trying to outdo the last in how snippy they can be.

Don’t get me wrong, am sure I’ve been dragged into similar —recall getting far too invested in a thread about a BBQ once— but it’s as people are queuing up to say something nastier than the last - like top trumps.

@GlummyMcGlummerson I'm incandescent with rage on your behalf

Theimpossiblegirl · 08/11/2020 21:49

I think there are a lot of very bored people who are angry at the whole situation/their lives and like to take it out on strangers on the internet.

I too remember when it was all fields (of vipers). I hate the snippy first replies followed by a pile on, so try to buck the trend, although it's a struggle. I mostly just follow the Christmas threads now (expects to be told off for mentioning Christmas before December).

Crunchymum · 08/11/2020 21:50

Saw a thread about swimming, derailed on page one Shock

enchantedspleen · 08/11/2020 21:52

I'm shaking so hard I can't type... except this...

And this...

MLMbotsgoaway · 08/11/2020 21:52

@Sparklingbrook

When you open MN Talk it’s very much a case of ‘what now?’ in the Coronavirus topic. Just when you think every angle has been analysed.
Has anyone asked if dogging is against the rules yet?

Can picture it now

  • we won’t have any direct contact with strangers as will remain in our car and can just watch
  • we are allowed to go to our local beauty spot to do it

@Crunchymum prime example that one.

Shaniac · 08/11/2020 21:55

Oh yes im just as guilty stirring on some of these threads.

But all men are evil.
Home made food is evil and will give you covid and you will kill nana.
Did you see a neighbour out of your window? Now your gonna die and kill the elderly because eye contact.
Cleaner used wifi password without permission? You are a literal slave driver who needs to learn about human rights.
Go to the supermarket with your partner? You are in an abusive controlling relationship and you have killed grandpa with covid.

Sparklingbrook · 08/11/2020 21:55

Dogging is fine. Spectators in masks and 2 metres apart and the people in the car from the same household keep the windows up. Driving a short distance for exercise. Perfect.

MLMbotsgoaway · 08/11/2020 21:59

You can even form a bubble with one of the spectators if desired.

I recall in April with the many, many "I need dishwasher tablets - is this an essential item??" several posters saying, wait for it...

"If you wouldn't kill your grandma to get it, then don't go out to buy it"

😂😂😂😂😂😂

I'm pretty sure there isn't anything Tesco sells that most people would think worthy of killing their grandma for. I wonder if these posters are now dead from starvation? Unlikely.

GeorgiaMcGraw · 08/11/2020 22:02

You're all brilliant. This thread has really cheered me up after a long day of spreading covid and pushing random children over (why weren't they in their baby cage at home with the Au Pair?!) Thank you all x

MLMbotsgoaway · 08/11/2020 22:03

@GlummyMcGlummerson hmm I’m not sure - Tesco does this cave aged goats cheese that could be worth it Wink

Report the incident to 101 immediately.

BogRollBOGOF · 08/11/2020 22:06

It's been undulating around peak crazy since March.
Special moments include:
The crisps on a bench brigade
Cheese in coffee
Candles in a potato (instead of in birthday cake)

Cabin fever doesn't bring out the best in people. I'm pleading guilty with diminished responsibilty Wink

Viviennemary · 08/11/2020 22:08

I've seen it much worse. I thought it was bad a few weeks ago.

MLMbotsgoaway · 08/11/2020 22:09

Candles in a potato? How have I missed that!

You forgot 'they put cheese in my lasagne' saga. Madness.
Dugee · 08/11/2020 22:16

Cheese in coffee? I remember it as butter in coffee but I can believe cheese in coffee would have been mentioned too.

MrsPernicious · 08/11/2020 22:16

Thank you for the COVID safe dogging regulations, I'm assuming homemade chocolate brownies are best left at home.

MLMbotsgoaway · 08/11/2020 22:22

@MrsPernicious are you trying to kill them. Lockdown is the perfect time to take up a Jew hobby and dogging is far better for the waistline than that dangerous baking.

"bye grandma"

QuentinWinters · 08/11/2020 22:25

Its very weird. I've been on one where a woman essentially asked if she should consider asking out a recently-ish widowed colleague who she's fancied for years. She got a worse pasting than posters who have actual affairs. It was very very very weird. She got called all sorts.

I'm not even finding all the "vile.....give your head a wobble" posters funny atm. Its just dull.
