Is is just me or has MN reached peak craziness

I probably need to back away from my screen - but is it just me or has this weekend seen the most ott responses to threads and everyday stuff ever?

I think perhaps lockdown is getting to people - but without mentioning specific threads I’ve seen the biggest over reactions ever on threads.

This isn’t a “MN” is going downhill thing, more Aibu to think that responses are suddenly absolutely mental.

(Semi- lighthearted).

@MLMbotsgoaway that typo could make you a PBP

MLMbotsgoaway · 08/11/2020 22:28

Oh god! I didn’t even spot it!

DillonPanthersTexas · 08/11/2020 22:32

As someone up thread has already stated, MN is entertainment. There is a sizable minority of folk who live on here and seem to seek validation of their own self importance.

HuggedTheRedwoods · 08/11/2020 22:33

@MLMbotsgoaway

I’ve even seen a lovely thread about kittens derailed! I’m trying not to mention anything specific as don’t want to re-kick them off.
The kitten racist accusations were hilarious! Grin Grin One of the most completely utterly off the mark posts I've seen on here and she still didn't back down after being called out several times.

Thanks, but that's THIS thread 🤣🤣🤣

@Dontforgetyourbrolly

Yes - everything is a red flag at the moment . Any male between 6 and 106 is abusive and controlling if they so much as look at you funny
Yes to this!
Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 08/11/2020 23:13

I agree, some replies are actually just horrible at the moment and there's not much to laugh at, as a couple of pps have said it's entertainment because so many threads are so far removed from (my) real life.

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 08/11/2020 23:29

MN has always been batshit. But it used to be batshit, clever and funny. Now it's just batshit. Although I can't stop giggling at Jew hobby Grin

I have to say though that lockdown puts me in a very weird mood. I get indescribably angry with everyone for the smallest thing. Much more than I would do usually. Eg SIL saying earlier she hates lockdown because she hates being stuck at home, before listing all the places she has been today (all totally legally and in line with all advice and guidance). Made me see red Confused

ANoTail · 08/11/2020 23:36

I think recent peak MN was the one where the OP committed the cardinal sin of admitting that she loved the family dog a little less now that she had a newborn (as in, of the human variety. That tiny helpless thing of the same species that she'd grown inside her body, as opposed to a border collie).
There were people calling her awful things for that. It was crazy.

drspouse · 08/11/2020 23:37

@pastabest

I've eye rolled a lot this last week.

For the first time ever I've also been able to spot blatant spamming of the boards by political bots/ paid posters. It's been quite unnerving.

I wouldn't have a clue, how do you know?
Changechangychange · 09/11/2020 00:10

@Dugee

Cheese in coffee? I remember it as butter in coffee but I can believe cheese in coffee would have been mentioned too.
The poster, who was one of the batshit shielding ones, was insisting back in the first few weeks of lockdown that milk wasn't an essential item because you could easily just use cheese instead.

She might have been thinking of bullet coffee with butter, but she definitely suggested a lump of cheddar grated into your espresso. On the grounds that cheese doesn't go off, so you would only need to go to the shop once a month.

I can't remember whether she was the "literal sobber and shaker", or if that was somebody else, but it was the same thread. Now sadly deleted, as far as I can tell.

Dugee · 09/11/2020 00:24

Well, the idea of putting a lump of butter or cheese in my morning coffee are both batshit to me. I remember reading it and thinking the same but for some reason I remember it as butter rather than cheese.

I've never heard of bullet coffee, so I will google.

Changechangychange · 09/11/2020 00:29

People responded to her, saying how yukky cheese in coffee would be, and other people popped up to say that butter in coffee was quite nice. Maybe that's what you're thinking of? The butter coffee discussion went on for a bit, until the batshit poster decided she wanted the attention back on herself again Hmm

MonroeM · 09/11/2020 00:40

@katy1213

It has got very boring - but there's nothing on telly.
Oh there WAS something riveting on telly and even though I watched it 2 years ago I was glued to it again.

They Shall Not Grow Old

I do recommend it if you get the chance to see it. Far more meaningful than some of the tripe on this site. "runs for cover"

Dugee · 09/11/2020 01:08

Indeed. I think there was so much batshitness around that nothing would have surprised me and I was reading a lot of threads with scepticism, before having a couple of months break from MN because if the batshitness. I probably just read the first page of the thread and gave up.

Dugee · 09/11/2020 01:09

Shame it was deleted, could have been one for classics 😂.

ramblingsofanobody · 09/11/2020 02:28

@GlummyMcGlummerson

Bwlch I think it’s become full of a lot of people that just want an argument tbh.

No it hasn't.
Oh yes it has

Did you mean to be so rude? I'm sobbing and shaking now.

Get a grip Grin
MLMbotsgoaway · 09/11/2020 12:12

I mean, I like cheese and I like coffee...

WhySoSensitive · 09/11/2020 12:18

I’ve also noticed a lot of repeat threads. Six weeks ago ops are unreasonable but almost identical threads this week then husband is.

Does it depend on where we are in the moon cycle to who’s being a knob?

LoeliaPonsonby · 09/11/2020 12:37

I think there’s something in it. I have very little patience at the moment, and find it hard to be patient when people are posting about situations they sleepwalked into, and seem to be unable to take even the smallest of steps to resolve. I find myself ranting as to why people are so crap.

More often than not, I end up not posting, but sometimes I give in.

whatdoidonowffs · 09/11/2020 12:39

WONT SOMEBODY THINK OF THE FUR BABIES !!!!

FortunesFavour · 09/11/2020 12:40

Well I for one am v disappointed that the stroppy FU Asda/POF thread has been zapped, it was comedy gold.

rainbowducks · 09/11/2020 12:43

Dog threads on here are a special form of batshit. The only acceptable routes to getting a dog are rescue greyhounds or breeders who aren’t doing it for the money and only let you have a puppy as a huge favour.

Viviennemary · 09/11/2020 12:43

Aww has the Asda thread gone. Did anybody actually agree with OP. If they did it wasn't many. So many vipers now in those green fields. Grin
