What 3 days would you pick to work part time?

I'm leaning towards Mon, Tue & Wed, as it would be nice to keep the weekend long.

But would it be better to break it up, have a day off midweek?

What pattern do you do if you are part time?

Do you have kids? What would you do mon/fri?

mnthrowaway202020 · 05/03/2020 20:14

I think Tuesday-Thursday would be a dream

alittlecloudfloatinginthesky · 05/03/2020 20:14

Tues, wed, thurs.

Long weekend every weekend please!

redmimi · 05/03/2020 20:15

I worked Tuesday to Thursday for a long time and loved it.

jesslambo88 · 05/03/2020 20:16

Definitely Tuesday Wednesday Thursdays for a long weekend xx

Pinkyyy · 05/03/2020 20:16

Definitely Tuesday to Thursday

Rhapsodyinpurple · 05/03/2020 20:16

I work the end of the week and don't mind it. If I had a choice it would be Tuesday - Thursday

LBOCS2 · 05/03/2020 20:16

When I worked part time I did Tuesday - Thursday. It was ideal, apart from the fact that we are quite a sociable industry and I missed out on a lot of team events (both formal and informal) by not being in the office on a Friday.

Pops1985 · 05/03/2020 20:16

I would do Monday, Tuesday, Thursday. Still the long weekend but you get a day mid week when things are quieter, Friday near me is nearly as busy as Saturday!

TheTrollFairy · 05/03/2020 20:16

Mon tues weds for me as Monday’s are the most popular bank holiday days so more days off throughout the year Grin

Ffsnosexallowed · 05/03/2020 20:16

Don't have Mondays - you'll end up having to use annual leave to cover public hols. That said I used to do Mon, Tues and Thurs - it was great! Never had to work more than 2 days in a row.

Simonsaysitschristmas · 05/03/2020 20:17

I’m an ideal world Tues, Weds, Thurs but think it depends on what job you do. I couldn’t leave my emails unattended for 4 days in a row.

SockQueen · 05/03/2020 20:18

I've done Weds-Fri and Mon/Tue/Fri. Currently on mat leave but will go back to doing Weds-Fri. I think I prefer it that way, I feel like I'm more "present" with 3 consecutive days. The other way had certain advantages when I had to work weekends, and only ever having to work 2 days before a day off is nice, but overall I prefer having my days together.

Sillyscrabblegames · 05/03/2020 20:19

Work Tues to Fri. You will then get all the Monday and Friday bank hol hours added to your annual leave to take whenever you want. Plus you get a super long weekend everyweek...

dementedpixie · 05/03/2020 20:19

Dont do mondays as you'd need to use leave for bank holidays. If you work Tuesday-Thursday then you have more choice over your holidays

Shoppingwithmother · 05/03/2020 20:19

Mon, Tues, Thurs - you’ll never wake up with the propsect of more than 2 consecutive days at work. Keep Friday free to do shopping for the weekend, or to go away for a long weekend.

TheMemoryLingers · 05/03/2020 20:19

Oooh, I fantasise about this all the time although there's no hope of my going part time. That hasn't stopped me thinking of lots of different options and comparing them in my head (a bit like planning how I'd spend a lottery win). So my choices would be -

  1. Weds, Thurs and Fri. Long weekend and nicer atmosphere at work at the end of the week.
  2. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Next best to above
  3. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Long weekend
SpeckledyHen · 05/03/2020 20:19

I work Wed to Friday . Friday is always more relaxed, dress down day, with social event type stuff . I like not having to work on Mondays and always feel very chilled to enjoy the first 2 days of the week when everyone else I know is at work :)

MondeoFan · 05/03/2020 20:20

I work 4 days and my Rota varies, sometimes I work Mon, Tue, Thurs, Fri so quite nice to have a midweek break.
Then I do Mon, Tue, Wed, Thurs and have Fri off which is nice too

TheTrollFairy · 05/03/2020 20:20

Depends where you work? Full time people at my work get them paid and part time workers are given extra days holiday (pro rata) to cover them so it still works out as the same holiday as full time people (for us anyway) and we also have the option of taking it unpaid too

Itwasntme101 · 05/03/2020 20:21

Tuesday to Thursday works out best when they pro rata the bank holidays.
You get 3/5ths "credit" for the bank holidays and then they deduct any bank holidays that fall on the days you work.

DaphneFanshaw · 05/03/2020 20:21

Tuesday to Thursday here too

trilbydoll · 05/03/2020 20:22

Depending on your role Thurs to Tues is too long out of the office, emails will be out of control every Tuesday morning which is a horrible depressing start to the week.

Mon Wed Thurs or Mon Tues Thurs for me.

TheMammothHunters · 05/03/2020 20:22

I do Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. I like it.
I have done Monday- Wednesday and Wednesday to Friday in the past but this pattern is nicest.

Merryoldgoat · 05/03/2020 20:23

I used to do Tues to Thurs - it was perfect and because I didn’t work Mondays the bank holiday adjustment meant I generally got 18-19 days leave. So 6 weeks.

I working Mondays as well now and desperate to get back to my three days.
