What 3 days would you pick to work part time?

I'm leaning towards Mon, Tue & Wed, as it would be nice to keep the weekend long.

But would it be better to break it up, have a day off midweek?

What pattern do you do if you are part time?

KisforKoala with you on all that Smile

Did mon-wed for years. Loved it, had the Friday feeling every Thursday. Monday is just a going back to work day for me so good to have the end of the week off!

Bibijayne · 05/03/2020 21:36

I work Weds, Thurs and Fri. Works out better holidays than working Mon, Tues, Weds. Lots of people work Tues, Weds, Thurs

Supersimkin2 · 05/03/2020 21:37

Depends on the industry - eg shops & leisure workplaces will be frenzied on Sat but not on Tues - offices happier on Fri. And how busy you like to be.

PinkiOcelot · 05/03/2020 21:38

With regards to BH. For example, when I worked part time my holiday entitlement was 100 hours + 25 hours BH so 125 hours (not real amount just example). I worked Tues-Thurs so all of those hours were mine to take whenever. Had I worked Monday, I would have had to deduct 7.5 hours for every BH Monday therefore reducing my AL entitlement quite a bit with BH.
Hope this makes sense.

mypoorfurbaby · 05/03/2020 21:39

I don't work wednesdays and I fucking love it.
My week is only ever two days long.
I truly have a day off when I can mooch around shops unimpeded by weekend shoppers.

Thehop · 05/03/2020 21:40

I do Monday Tuesday Thursday and I really like it but I think tuesdays Wednesday Thursday would be fab

dementedpixie · 05/03/2020 21:41

@TroysMammy as you dont work the same hours each day your entitlement should be worked out in hours. You are entitled to 5.6 weeks of your weekly hours as a minimum.

How many hours do full time staff do?
What holidays plus bank holidays do they get?
How many hours do you work?

Your colleague will have to take all the bank holidays as they work on a monday. They may have to put normal leave towards the bank holiday days if the pro rata bank holidays arent sufficient to cover all those bank holiday days

MyDaughtersLeftFoot · 05/03/2020 21:42

I used to do Monday, Thursday and Friday although just mornings. No long weekend but two weekends of you look at it another way! I used to really enjoy my cheeky days off in the week with no alarms!

Cherrysherbet · 05/03/2020 21:44

I do a couple of hours late on Saturday, then Monday, Thursday and Friday. I like most of Saturday and all sundays off with the kids, and I get two days together in the week to get my jobs done at home.

ainsisoisje · 05/03/2020 21:45

I do Weds, Thurs, Fri - it definitely helps with work life balance.

Harrysmummy246 · 05/03/2020 21:45

Husband didn't get to choose monday or friday as too many other people already had so we have wednesday if he's not had to go away on trip etc

Autumnnightsaredrawingin · 05/03/2020 21:46

I now work FT but when I was PT I did Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and loved it.

AmethystMoonShine · 05/03/2020 21:46

I do Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. 3 day weekend, and a day off to recover from Monday Grin

Samtsirch · 05/03/2020 21:48

I would love to have a sixth sense warning me in advance which would be the most difficult days in the week, at work or at home so that I could cherrypick my days off .
😂

Hiddenfigurines · 05/03/2020 21:48

Any 3 consecutive days

drspouse · 05/03/2020 21:49

When my DCs were in nursery I did Mon, Weds, Thurs (we had a team meeting on Weds or I would have done MTuTh).
They are now in school and I do Mon am, Tu, Wed, Thurs am so I can do an extra school pickup.

Mallysmomma · 05/03/2020 21:51

I do tues-thurs and it’s awesome. I never need to use annual leave for weekends away and I have a long weekend every week. Defo the way to go. Xx

B0bbin · 05/03/2020 21:51

I had to look at what days other people were off so everyone wasn't off at the same time. I also looked at days which had the best playgroups or sessions for my DS.

Guttersnipe · 05/03/2020 21:54

The best scenario would be Tues, Weds, Thurs, definitely.

I currently do Weds, Thurs, Fri. Its ok, but I haven't been doing it long and, when the summer comes, I think I will definitely miss not being able to get away early on Friday for weekends away.

gabsdot45 · 05/03/2020 21:57

I do Monday, half day Tuesday and Friday. I love having 2 full days off mid week.

NeonK · 05/03/2020 21:57

I did Mon, Wed, Thu for a while. That was great. Never more than 2 days working in a row and no more than 2 consecutive days out the office (even counting fri & mon as consecutive.

Also, on a holiday weekend you get an extra long break - finish Thursday night, back in Wednesday morning. Could kid myself it was practically a week 😄

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 05/03/2020 21:59

I’ve asked for tues wed thurs if I can when I go back from mat leave

Goldwispa · 05/03/2020 21:59
