It's all I see in the shops, beautifully packaged and expensive sets. However having sampled them I am always left underwhelmed.

The bottles look like they've been made as cheaply as possible. They buckle the moment you've opened them.
The fragrances are so minor as to be virtually unnoticeable.
Same with the creams and body lotions.
They always seem all style and no substance.

Or am I being unreasonable?

As an aside they are among the most donated unused items our charity gets for raffles. So they do have a use Grin

Yanbu, they sell this crap by the ton at garden centres and people buy it to give to people they don’t really give a toss about.
I got some the other year so I know where I stand now!

BrightYellowDaffodil · 05/11/2019 12:20

YANBU. It’s a cheap Molton Brown imitator.

Justmuddlingalong · 05/11/2019 12:22

I'd gratefully receive bugger all if baylis and harding was the alternative. It's like a shit rolled in glitter. All sparkly, but still shit underneath.

Piffle11 · 05/11/2019 12:25

Yes it's utter junk. Got a set from BIL many, many years ago, when I hadn't heard of them. Thought, wow, this looks lovely … what a disappointment. Watery crap that smells of barely anything.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 05/11/2019 12:27

I hate it. Shower gel blobs onto your hand then promptly slides off in a lump onto the shower floor. It cannot be lathered.

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 05/11/2019 12:27

The fragrances are lovely, but the texture is a bit rum - very gloopy - and I find you need a ton of it to larger up.

gromberry · 05/11/2019 12:28

It makes me irrationally angry...they've spent all their money on making it look posh and Molton Brown-esque, and then just put nasty cheap stuff in the bottles.

Bluntness100 · 05/11/2019 12:30

Yes it's cheap shit product. Packaging looks ok but that's it, the product itself is shite.

i always ask dp for a bayliss and harding set for xmas Blush runs for cover

Princesspickle777 · 05/11/2019 12:33

It’s cheap crap sold in most supermarkets. I wouldn’t dream of buying it anyone but have been bought it before. Normally I give to the school raffles but the one set I got given last has my name on it!.

MyOtherProfile · 05/11/2019 12:35

YABU. One of their handsoaps is my favourite ever soapy smell. A brown blokey kind of smell - ginger and pepper or something. Haven't got a clue about the rest of their stuff as I've never used it.

ShirleyPhallus · 05/11/2019 12:38

Expensive?! They’re really cheapo, our local pound store sells them!

Coughsyrupsucks · 05/11/2019 12:41

YANBU it’s utter crap.

KatherineJaneway · 05/11/2019 12:42

It's made to make people feel like they have Molton Brown when it is a much cheaper product.

Witchinaditch · 05/11/2019 12:42

I buy it for people I don’t really like, I’d buy cowshed stuff for the people I love.

misspiggy19 · 05/11/2019 12:43

^This. They have never been anywhere near expensive.

Celebelly · 05/11/2019 12:44

Yeah it's for casual acquaintances or to have in stock as emergency gifts when someone gives you a present that you weren't expecting. Mind you, we are using the hand wash from last year's distant family member in the downstairs bathroom.

shearwater · 05/11/2019 12:44

The soaps are all right and smell nice, and don't dry my skin out. I get them if they are on special offer.

Nottobesoldseparately · 05/11/2019 12:45

Some of its ok, some of its shit.
Like most brands!

SchadenfiendeUnmortified · 05/11/2019 12:45

Yes it is!

Absolute shite!

I would rather get nothing than this rubbish.

It always ends up in the charity shop.

dipstyque · 05/11/2019 12:46

I'm sure it used too basically be a pound shop version of Molton Brown. Like Lindt and Tresemme, brands that were cheapo versions, and therefore sold lots(?) and are now everywhere as the new normal. (Think I do prefer lindt to Cadbury tbh)

Chloemol · 05/11/2019 12:46

I like it and use it

dipstyque · 05/11/2019 12:47

I do but the B&H handwash but I don't kid myself it's posh

AudTheDeepMinded · 05/11/2019 12:47

Yes, as evidenced by the amount to be seen in charity shops.
