To feel under attack about sanpro

Mainly the brand changing its packaging to be trans friendly. Are we slowly eradicating womenhood? Along with " pregnant person". It feels such a slippery slope.

I've never looked at the symbols on my san pro packaging in all the years of using it, just the colour.

PookieDo · 21/10/2019 20:47

slipperywhensparticus

I have to use them as sanitary products
A lot of women do
A lot of products are not suitable for heavy periods

Jinxed2 · 21/10/2019 20:48

I couldn’t be bothered to care....not arsed what the packaging looks like as long as it does it’s job!

Pinkyyy · 21/10/2019 20:48

@Glenthebattleostrich do they own all of the brand's you mentioned?

If so what are people's suggestions for replacing Tampax pearl?

Cohle · 21/10/2019 20:51

I have never noticed the Venus logo in all my years of buying Always. Removing it has no impact on me whatsoever, but clearly means a lot to some individuals.

drspouse · 21/10/2019 20:51

this is transphobic hateful garbage
Saying that transmen can identify as men but not change sex? Do you believe they can?

Or a woman saying she feels her lived experience of being a woman and having periods is being erased? I thought life was all about lived experiences and not erasing them these days?

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 21/10/2019 20:51

What is transphobic about this?!

Always are removing the Venus symbol from their sanpro packaging to make it more inclusive. Why sanpro has to be inclusive I'll never know, it's used by women as only women have periods.

I don't use their vile scented products but if I did I'd be looking elsewhere.

DanielRicciardosSmile · 21/10/2019 20:54

Sorry for the rubbish picture, this tablet has a really bad camera. Anyway, as I said just circles and triangles on every pad.

If you believe that being a woman is completely unrelated to biology it’s a logical step. I’d like to suggest menstruator only toilets that have sanitary bins to help protect the dignity of all menstruators.

ControversialFerret · 21/10/2019 21:00

Posted on the last thread about this - which got zapped as it "wasn't in the spirit". Not sure why MNHQ decided that talking about specifically female experiences wasn't relevant to the site, but hey ho.

Only females menstruate. Transmen are female. You can identify how you want, dress how you want and call yourself what you want, but identity does not change your biology - your chromosomes, your organs, your bone density. Identifying as a man does not magically remove your uterus.

Aridane · 21/10/2019 21:02

What is a Venus symbol? What has been removed?

rainingallday · 21/10/2019 21:05

@Ibleedibreedibreaatfeed Thanks for the link. YANBU.

The post by @ControversialFerret is spot on.

DanielRicciardosSmile · 21/10/2019 21:06

@Aridane this ♀️

honeyloops · 21/10/2019 21:07

YABU to use the phrase 'sanpro' because it's weird.

YA also BU to be annoyed at a business making things easier for people who might be affected by it, in a way which doesn't directly affect you at all. Does your vagina only accept sanitary products which feature Venus symbols on? If not, I can only assume this will make precisely zero difference to your life and therefore isn't worth getting angry about.

pugparty · 21/10/2019 21:07

YABU.

No one is attacking you. Give over and stop with such transphobic rubbish.

honeyloops · 21/10/2019 21:08

Agreed, @pugparty. 'Under attack' indeed - you're not being picked off by snipers, it's a fucking sanitary towel.

Iggii · 21/10/2019 21:10

I love the advertising tag line "smell fresh as your granny's front room"

Iggii · 21/10/2019 21:11

Pugarty please define in what way this is "transphobic"?

Ibleedibreedibreaatfeed · 21/10/2019 21:12

I don't think my post is anti trans is it? I hope it doesn't get deleted

An online yoga instructor whose vids I really enjoy has just remade her 'Yoga for Women' video. It's now called 'Yoga for Cramps and PMS'. Fantastic, obvs, the title is more specific - but she says she did it so she could use gender-neutral pronouns.

I'm all for treating people with respect and calling them what they want to be called. However, it's women who have periods. This is a fact.

Ibleedibreedibreaatfeed · 21/10/2019 21:14

Its just a short term for sanitary products why the anger? Its easier to type 1 handed

OP posts:
longtimelurkerhelen · 21/10/2019 21:16

It's not about Women missing the symbol on packaging, it's about the steady erosion of all things female.

In any democracy you have to go with the majority, not the minority.

One transman complained and they decide to change the packaging, thousands of women complain that they smell nasty and give them thrush, they do nothing. It is pandering.

barnun · 21/10/2019 21:17

Does your vagina only accept sanitary products which feature Venus symbols on?

I could just as easily turn that around and ask why some people's vaginas apparently have such a problem with the symbol....

Butterisbest · 21/10/2019 21:21

The complaint about the female symbol has come from Ben, Ben is a Trans man, i.e. Ben was born female but now identifies as male . Ben doesn't want to be reminded of Ben's born biology.
Ben probably believes the lie that human beings can change sex. Ben will find out that this isn't true.

northernruth · 21/10/2019 21:22

Transmen are women. I understand that being a woman is a bit shit because I am one, but the way to deal with that is to join the fight, not to opt out and then steal one of the symbols that we have of our womanhood and our oppression just because you want to pretend you're a bloke
