To expect husband to travel home with us?

Going on holiday to ireland on Saturday. Husband is irish, so we are spending the week in his village. We are travelling back the following sunday, all ireland final day. His team is in the final. When we were booking the flights I mentioned this to him, and he said his team wouldn't get there, and he had enough on that month (a stag weekend, and a weekend in dublin at the hurling final). Now the time has come, his team are there, and he wants to spend £200 on a new flight later that night so he can watch the match. This means I am travelling home from an 8 day holiday with all our stuff and a 10month old baby. He asked my opinion, and now hes annoyed that I dont think it's ok. His team get to this match regularly and he has been to it before. I have suggested not looking at social media and watching immediately as we return.

You are being unreasonable the All Ireland Final is VERY important in Ireland.

All Irelands are the pinnacle in Ireland and if your team doesn't get there very often then it is a huge deal (if you move in GAA circles. 😉)

Tell him fine. But he can either take the child or the luggage with him to bring home after as you can't manage both

Why cant he bring all the stuff instead of you? It’s not very far to go on a plane by yourself with a baby.

I'd say he is BU. You mentioned it to him and he decided his team wouldn't get there. This is his penance for not believing in his team.
Also can you afford the extra £200 as to me that is also unreasonable along with all the other events he has attended this month.

Cant see the issue
It s not a long flight
Get taxi each and.
Another time you get time to do something you like.
You don t have to take all the stuff
Take bare minimum and get him to bring the rest with him

But seriously, I think he should go to the match, it's a great day for a county. Let him bring the luggage though

I would insist he pays for you both to fly later together.

Make him take the majority of the stuff. You take just the things you need.

I get it's annoying as he said he wasnt bothered. But it is big deal in Ireland.

I wouldnt make a fuss over this. Pack as light as you can for the way home.

Plenty of people travel on their own with a baby. I am from Ireland and did it quite often with my kids.

Yes I was going to say if it’s a huge big deal then let him stay but he can carry the bags surely! Did he say you had to take all the stuff?!

He cant bring the stuff or the baby, because he is hoping he can get a ticket to the match, and he cant take 2 suitcases into the stadium. He cant take the baby because he then wouldn't be able to watch the match properly.
Yes his team is one of the two mentioned, they are regularly in finals, this is not a once in a lifetime opportunity.

And we have travelled extensively with the baby, but he is at an awkward age, he is able to walk and wants to get investigate everything, making it harder to manage him and all the luggage.

This would piss me off too but then I don't give a shit about sport. As long as the £200 doesn't come out of joint family money then I would let him get on with it but make sure he brings some stuff home!

Sure if you live a flight away I'm sure he doesn't get to go very much?
