I have a 32inch tv in living room,my friend said it's far too small for living room.
Is it? What size tv does everyone else have ?

It doesn’t matter what size anyone else has, or what your friend says, how do you feel about it? We have an enormous tv, but only one, no tv’s in bedrooms.

Pomgirl · 12/08/2019 21:39

That is small... we have 52 but in an apartment, would have 55 otherwise.

Wildorchidz · 12/08/2019 21:39

Ours is 34 inch
I hate big screens

Shooturlocalmethdealer · 12/08/2019 21:39

I have a 50 inch tv. It depends on what size your living room is I would think if it's to small or not. But it's your tv and if you like it then who cares what anyone else thinks?

dererer · 12/08/2019 21:39

I would love possibly a 49 inch but can't afford to waste money on a tv at the min unfortunately

Tiny. Far too small if you’re buying a new one!

I upgraded from a 10 year old 42 to a 65. Films have never looked so good!

Parky04 · 12/08/2019 21:41

37 inch. More than big enough.

BikeRunSki · 12/08/2019 21:41

We have 2 TVs, both 32”. One in living room, one in playroom (the dc are nearly 11 and nearly 8 now, most of the playing is on a PlayStation).

BettaSplenden · 12/08/2019 21:41

Mines a 32 too. Can't afford any bigger. I wish it was bigger for footie watching etc but otherwise I don't notice x

dererer · 12/08/2019 21:43

I sometimes get embarrassed when new people come over and see how small it is but what can you do

Bluntness100 · 12/08/2019 21:43

There is a formula for working out the size of tv for a room, you can google it.

I'm not sure of rhe point of asking though, if you can't afford to replace it, it is what it is.

32 is very small, so I suspect your friend is right. But as said, 🤷‍♀️

PivotPivotPivottt · 12/08/2019 21:44

I have a 49 inch in my living room it was a Christmas present, I would never have been able to afford one myself. I was always happy with my 32 inch before that but now I couldn't go back. If you are happy with it though then I don't see what the problem is.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 12/08/2019 21:44

Ours is 32". We dont watch much TV and it's never felt too small. It's in an alcove which just about fits it. I personally don't like living spaces to be dominated by tvs.

vodkaredbullgirl · 12/08/2019 21:45

a tv is a tv

DrierThanANunsNasty · 12/08/2019 21:45

Forget getting a new TV, get a new friend Confused

Floralnomad · 12/08/2019 21:45

We have a 49” at present but are about to get a new one so will go for 55” , we have 32” ones in the bedrooms . I think it depends on the size of the room , large TVs in very small rooms look ridiculous .

HappyParent2000 · 12/08/2019 21:45

I would get rid of that friend and keep the tv

lovelyupnorth · 12/08/2019 21:46

40in big lounge plenty big enough. Some people just like nuts but TVs. My brother has a 75 in curved screen that cost him a stupid amount of money and is far too big for the room but he loves it.

We had a 32 in till we finally allowed the kids to have TVs in rooms and used it as an excuse to get a smart led one for the lounge.

Dandelion1993 · 12/08/2019 21:46

I have a 32" one and don't see the issue. The focal point of my lounge shouldn't be the TV.

Muddlingalongalone · 12/08/2019 21:46

Small.
I had a 32" in my old flat which was perfect, then a 37" here.
Was skint 2 years ago when that died and got a bargain in John Lewis - 32" and it's too small.

Mummyshark2018 · 12/08/2019 21:48

It depends on the size of your room. We've recently extended and created a snug. Original living room tv too big for snug. Imo 37 inch from bedroom is perfect. Dh wants bigger. Tvs are relatively very cheap these days though as dh keeps showing me!

Cabezona · 12/08/2019 21:49

They're not very expensive anymore. We got a 50 inch smart tv from curry's it similar for 269. It's their own brand but it's great. Otherwise there is eBay. We got DC a 42 inch for Christmas for less than £40. It's quite a chunky older one but works just fine

AlunWynsKnee · 12/08/2019 21:50

Ours is the smallest on the thread by some way...
We could buy a bigger one but we don't want one.

motherheroic · 12/08/2019 21:52

Depends on how big the room is and where the settee is. If you have your 32 inch TV all the way down one end and the settee all the way down the other it looks silly.

I currently have a 40 inch which works perfectly for me at the moment due to how I've set up my living room. My settee splits the room in half, so behind the settee is the dining table and computer and in front of the settee is the coffee table, TV/TV unit.

hmwhatsmynameagain · 12/08/2019 21:53

I have a 32" in a room 3.8m by 5m, I just put on my specs to see the guide or watch things properly ( not Mumsnet at same time)
