I have a 32inch tv in living room,my friend said it's far too small for living room.
Is it? What size tv does everyone else have ?

AND theyre all wall mounted >

Seeingadistance · 12/08/2019 23:51

32” tv here. That’s big enough. I don’t watch tv much anyway, put my specs on when I do, and think big TVs are really ugly.

Bambamber · 12/08/2019 23:54

I personally prefer not having a large TV being the focal point of a room. I'm not sure how big our TV is, probably about 40 inches and is the only one in our house.

I think it also depends on how you use your TV. If you frequently watch it and watch a lot of films and/or sport, then a bigger TV may be better. We try not to have our TV on too often so having a massive black screen in the room just wouldn't make sense

kelly14 · 12/08/2019 23:56

75 inch and our lounge isn’t huge so looks ridiculous.! Was purchased without my knowledge. Don’t care about the money but just think it’s too big for the room it’s in!
Think we have 40inch or thereabouts in our bedroom. Daughter has a 32 inch tv bed and have 32 in kitchen which is rarely used.

StumpyinSomerset · 13/08/2019 00:08

32 inch tv here. More than big enough for the lounge.Really don't see the point in anything bigger. But then I'd rather read a book anyway.

Snugglepumpkin · 13/08/2019 00:12

I have a 40" wall mounted in a custom recess in the front room but I hate tvs dominating the room & we don't have it on that often, so it actually lives behind a large picture which gets moved when we watch tv - which is usually only for movie night on a Saturday.
It looks like there is no tv at all when the picture is up.

I have a 32" in my bedroom which I deliberately purchased when I redecorated my room a couple of years back as I had this idea I was going to lie in bed & watch box sets on it, but there is always another book to read first so I have never actually watched it.
If the one in the front room breaks I'll probably move the 32" downstairs & use it there instead.

Most people (once they stop freaking out that they can't see the tv as it's behind the picture) seem to think a 40" is too small, but I have also had people describe it as a 'massive' tv so I just leave them to it.
Just have the one that suits you.

Nat6999 · 13/08/2019 00:13

I've got a 32 inch in my living room at the moment, it's about 10 years old. As soon as I either get a new house or decorate this one I will be getting a minimum of a 49 inch TV, the stupid thing is it will probably cost less than the 32 inch one did 10 years ago & be a better television.

x2boys · 13/08/2019 00:15

How did we all manage with the big back tv,s ?Grin mines 32" but I got it free with a deal from virgin media my previous one was 4 2" I think , my living room isn't big so a massive one would look ridiculous tbh.

Nat6999 · 13/08/2019 00:22

It's a pain that so many shops don't deliver or you have to wait ages to get your purchase delivered. I bought a 42 inch TV for my bedroom few years ago & my then 8 year old had to help me get it from the car to the house & upstairs.

Purplemist · 13/08/2019 00:31

32" . It was the biggest I could find with an integrated DVD player.

RottnestFerry · 13/08/2019 00:31

We have 32" tv in our living room. It's dwarfed by the fireplace.

Spacerader · 13/08/2019 00:32

I would find a 32imch to small for my living room. Mostly because I wouldn’t be able to see properly. My partner moans enough now because I always make him read things on the tv for me when I haven’t got my glasses on. Not sure of what size i do have, but I have a 32 in the bedroom.

Tvs can be relatively inexpensive these days, especially if you get refurbished ones.

But if you are happy, who is anyone to judge. I certainly wouldn’t pass judgment over the size of someone’s tv in their living room.

WhyBirdStop · 13/08/2019 00:32

32 and we've just bought a new one as the old one died. I don't want a television as the focal point of my house, it is only on for an hour or two a day, is strikes me as odd when you walk along a street and can see giant televisions, up on the wall, dominating living rooms.

DragonTrainer3 · 13/08/2019 00:34

Ours is 32, we looked for the smallest one on purpose. We could afford much bigger if we wanted but don't watch a lot and don't want it to dominate the room.

No tellies in the bedrooms either for the same reasons.

It's a very personal thing though, I'd never judge anyone else's choice because they choose the right thing for their circumstance.

ToastyFingers · 13/08/2019 00:44

We have a 32. It was great in our old house, which had a really small living room but in our current house it's a bit too small and I can't read the TV guide very well from the sofa and it's easy to miss things if you're watching sports and stuff.
I think we'll upgrade to a 50 inch at some point but as our current one works perfectly fine it's not a priority.

Feelingpoorlysick · 13/08/2019 01:03

We have a 42 in our living room, 5x4m. 32 in our bedroom the same size as living room. I definitely wouldn't get bigger. I hate tvs being the focal point of the room.

IchiNiSan · 13/08/2019 01:08

24" here, and it suits me as I wouldn't want it to dominate the room

BarbaraofSeville · 13/08/2019 06:17

Why is there a competitive tv size thing going on, you need a new friend not a new tv

^^ This. Find the right friends and you'll be embarrassed your TV is too big, not too small.

Ours is 42 in quite a large living room and is quite big enough thank you. No way are we going any bigger.

RosaWaiting · 13/08/2019 06:21

Why do you care what she thinks? Why did she say it anyway? Weird.

hazell42 · 13/08/2019 06:22

Atm I have no TV at all, and am not missing it at all. My last one was 32 inches and previous to that was about 16.
I do have an odeon limitless card. If I want a big screen experience, I go to the pictures. I hate massive tellies

allthegins · 13/08/2019 06:23

Far too small for me. I have two 55 inch TVs but we like watching films and football so need them. If you’re not into tv that much, then size doesn’t matter

AleFailTrail · 13/08/2019 06:27

I bought a tv when I bought my Xbox. 42” was the smallest UHD 4K I could get. It’s waaay too big for the bedroom it’s stuck in for now

HappyParent2000 · 13/08/2019 06:53

We decided on 49” and I still think it’s way too big.

Chouetted · 13/08/2019 07:13

Mine is 19 inch, and I feel like I've walked into a penis comparison thread Blush

ScreamingValenta · 13/08/2019 07:17

Mine is 22 inch - I bought the smallest one I could find that had HD. I can't stand an enormous television dominating the room. The only issue was the sound was very tinny, but I got round that by getting a sound bar.
