Disclaimer: I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I know this has been done to death so feel free to ignore if you're sick to the back teeth of Brexit shite. Please don't pelt me with buns and gin bottles for bringing it up. No snapping. No farting.

I don't live in the UK at the moment (though I'm British) so may well have a very skewed perception of the whole thing, but it seems that Brexit is hated by a shocking number of people, has managed to go spectacularly tits up before its even happened and whispers was arguably not wanted by the majority of the population anyway.

Every time I look at the news, there's further arm waving, frothing and photos of Theresa May looking like she's hoping for the ground to swallow her up, stories of the MPs rejecting this, the EU rejecting that, Nigel Farage doing something stupid, Boris Johnson nowhere to be seen etc etc.

But there doesn't seem to be an official suggestion that we just...don't do it.

Have I missed something? Is there some reason why the Government is battling on ahead with such a shit show, when there is a (seemingly) perfectly reasonable and easy alternative right there?

Politicians can only see as far as the next election. They don’t want to “go against the people” for deal of not getting elected next time. So on we go, marching off a cliff because Dave from Sunderland doesn’t like foreigners.

Because the government don’t have the courage to tell the electorate that Brexit is not in the country’s interest. And undeliverable. As we can see by the latest farce today.

I am very much a remainer. However to just say “we are staying” certainly won’t help with faith in the political system as it makes votes pointless.

I also don’t think “we have changed our mind now” will go down well with the EU.

The problem is it should never have been taken to refferendum with so little thought of what would happen and article 50 certainly shouldn’t have been triggered without some proper planning first

Politicians can only see as far as the next election I totally get this but then stopping Brexit has been shown again and again to BE the "will of the people" and its a small minority who declare a 2nd referendum "undemocratic".

And so far no-one has said one single thing about what will be good after Brexit. That's because there is nothing good to be said about Brexit. Nothing. Or someone, for fuck sake, show me I'm wrong... or just let's stop this nonsense.

....preferably followed up by said dodgy politicians being charged/prosecuted for making shit up and selling it to the public.

Don't even get me started. The appalling lack of voters in the younger age brackets is infuriating.

Because a core group of individuals will profit enormously from the fallout. And those people are running our government. It's called Disaster Capitalism and we're living it out loud and in stereo.

Paddy and Ghost - exactly. And whatever the outcome now, I suspect that the ongoing farce will not help any in trying to secure those trade deals that were going to be oh so easy.

Because people voted for it, end of. What are we going to best out of 3, and supposing the result is the same.
However another part of me does think we should have another referendum on it as we know more about it now, so perhaps the results would be different this time round who knows. Like the saying goes.

They can’t just say people were protesting against austerity and used the referendum as a way of displaying this because it strikes right at the heart of Tory policy. Equally they can’t come clean and say it will be a disaster economically because half of their own party told us otherwise ! Catch 22 situation

Because it was voted for and we’re not a dictatorship so it’s going ahead.

Brexit vote was based on feeling and emotion, divorced from reality hence the last 2 years of humiliation, hubris and stalemate.

It's not the Youngers. It's the do-gooders & SJWs, they are dreamers who will write reams on FB, MN etc for a back-slapping audience but won't prise their arse off chair to vote as 'oh that'll never happen, it will all be fine'. Most Remainers I know didn't actually vote.

If young people don't vote its no wonder with all the snarling by elders who call them derogatory terms and laugh at their concerns. Including seeming to think it's funny that youngers have less good job opportunities and barely any hope of getting a foot on the housing ladder. There are jokes about it, these 'snowflakes' that want it all.

No - it's middle aged and elderly xenophobes with a naff empirical attitude to blame, alongside the SJW crew.

The elderlies are worse as they voted for Brexit yet it won't affect them as they won't be here, but will surely impact negatively upon their future generations.
