Have you seen the new Gillette advert?

It's in line with the #metoo movement and it's just brilliant.

Reaction online is depressing though. It has pissed Piers Morgan off royally though, so that's excellent. Poor little snowflake. Offended at an advert Grin

Why would men boycott Gilette because of this? Are they trying to say they approve of sexual harassment?Hmm

Ghanagirl · 15/01/2019 12:14

Amazing advert. I have a son and I want him to grow up seeing the best of all men, not this shit storm that’s whirling around atm. How can anyone be up in arms about this is beyond me.

Bufferingkisses · 15/01/2019 12:21

That actually made me emotional, I'm quite surprised, I'm usually immune to marketing rubbish.

It's not just the harassment thing, it's the idea of challenging the whole boys will be boys attitude that is spoon fed to children. Boys and girls need to see that happening. Anyone getting hot under the collar about it is most likely happy with the status quo, men can behave however they like and should not be challenged.

HappilyHarridan · 15/01/2019 12:23

Nice ad

StreetwiseHercules · 15/01/2019 12:23

It’s a message of kindness and decency. I’ve always used Gillette and will definitely continue to do so.

gluteustothemaximus · 15/01/2019 12:26

I actually did tear up at the end bit.

Just sent DH the link, he thought it was excellent.

@recently it's the old 'I'm not a rapist so no male must be' mindset and complete fucking disregard for the #metoo movement.

Still so far to go apparently...

pisspawpatrol · 15/01/2019 12:28

That advert has made me WANT to buy Gillette razors.

User10fuckingmillion · 15/01/2019 12:30

The likes/dislikes ratio is ridiculous.

Beerincomechampagnetastes · 15/01/2019 12:30

Love this Smile

Chesntoots · 15/01/2019 12:31

It actually made me very emotional, and I'm a hard-faced cow most of the time.

I had a conversation at work the other day pointing out that if men started to grow some bollocks and actually challenge these things themselves, then that would be the most effective way to change attitudes and behaviours. I asked it they would be happy if someone was touching up their daughter on a night out, making sexual comments at work etc. The men I were speaking to said they would "flatten" anyone who did they, but yet could not see that what was they were doing to someone else's daughter! Not sure I changed anything there, but it make them pause for a second!

paddlingwhenIshouldbeworking · 15/01/2019 12:31

Excellent. Well done Gillette.

paddlingwhenIshouldbeworking · 15/01/2019 12:33

Yes that's Gillette in the basket.

paddlingwhenIshouldbeworking · 15/01/2019 12:34

Sorry 3rd post but as a parent of 3 boys and 1 girl, it makes me emotional too.

Shenanagins · 15/01/2019 12:35

Whilst I completely agree with the sentiment of the advert, I can’t help but think that it is a cynical marketing attempt to make them appear more right on.

Stormwhale · 15/01/2019 12:36

It got to me too. I don't understand why there is such a negative reaction to it. It hit home hard with me. I wish men showed each other when their behaviour isn't right instead of slapping them on the back.

In my life there are men like my dad and my husband who would never treat women poorly, but there are far too many who do in small ways every single day.

ButterflyOfFreedom · 15/01/2019 12:37

Just watched it and I like it - well done Gillette I say!

dingledangles · 15/01/2019 12:37

Wait what have I missed? How could anyone be annoyed about this??

Iblinkedandiamold · 15/01/2019 12:37

Oh that gave me chills and made me strangely emotional. It's the last part, "the boys watching today will be the men of the future. "

LooksBetterWithAFilter · 15/01/2019 12:40

Fantastic advert and it pissed off Piers Morgan so it must be good.
I have two boys and I loathe this boys will be boys attitude and it’s something we work really hard to talk to them about at home. I’m often surprised at some friends who in so many other ways are really switched on that perpetuate it and in turn put up with crap from their husbands because that’s just men innit.
I need razors I’ll pop out and buy Gillette.

Stormwhale · 15/01/2019 12:40

The comments on that video show why we have the problems we have. Men don't want to be told you can't abuse and mistreat women. They don't want to know.
