In your school? That happened to come out as the truth, or a lie?.
Just finished reading a really good thread on it and would love to hear more.
When I was in school the rumour was the classic someone put a mars bar somewhere it shouldn't... and that a teacher was having an affair with a pupil. (Wasn't true). Oh we also had the pe teacher apparently having an affair with the English teacher. That was true!.

This will probably be really outing to anyone who was at the school but we had a geography teacher mysteriously disappear and it was rumoured that he had been having an affair with a biology teacher. One particular day said biology teacher walked into our class (the one I was in) and overheard some girls talking about it and turned around and said "he's dead" - cue hysterical teens, she then said that was a lie. Thereafter it all came out.

Same school rumours between two science department teachers, always denied - they're now married..

We had so many rumours in our school it was crazy

Primary school - that two teachers were having an affair. I was in a gymnastics class with the woman’s son and one time the man came to pick him up so I suspect it was true.

Secondary school - one of the teachers was a post operative transwoman. (This was the early 90s.) I highly doubt it was true!

History teacher was an alcoholic who would drink from a flask hidden in his classroom cupboard - true!

Primary art teacher was a paedophile - unfortunately true, my classmate got interviewed by police regarding an incident ...

Primary school, the rumour was that two of the Mums were having a lesbian affair. It was true. I lived opposite one of them and saw them snogging behind the very high hedge from my upstairs window, where, presumably they thought they wouldn’t be seen. No, I didn’t contribute to the rumour mill by saying what I had seen.

Secondary school. Rumour was the deputy head was a paedophile. Unfortunately it was true! He was grooming teenage girls, taking them out for meals and I think he kidnapped one of them! He was arrested and charged. Disgusting man.

That janitor was an alcoholic. True.

Did anyone else have the test tube rumour at their school or was it just ours? I did go to an all girls school and our rumpus was always based on sexual stuff ffs 😂

One of our teachers was said to be a Russian spy, he left at the end of the summer term to go and work in Russia. All true of course

That the business studies teacher was sleeping with a 6th former, I stumbled across her facebook profile couple of years ago and they were now married with a child, so guessing that was true!

There was a staircase to the attic, that we weren't allowed to go up and everyone said it was because it was haunted by past pupils that had died from too much PE we'd sneak up and freak each other out with the noises not true obviously!

There were LOADS in my secondary school that mostly turned out to be true!

Rumour that PE teacher and dance teacher were together - true, they’re now married.

Rumour that a science teacher was seeing a girl from year 11 - true, me and my friends saw them out together a couple of years later.

Rumour that our art teacher was an alcoholic. He seemed to be followed around by a strong smell of alcohol - true, he was sacked and now works in a local supermarket.

Science teacher and IT teacher were together - true, and it was common knowledge after a while. Eventually they split and the science teacher is now married to one of the school secretaries!

Rumour that our woodwork teacher was a paedophile - no idea if it was true or not, but he was very touchy feely with a lot of the girls.

That the music teacher was a dealer on the side. Didn’t find out until much later this was actually true

Mine v outing. A photo of all the students in the first year of the school opening. Rumour that one of the girls had died and her photo image moved and had no knee caps.
So much hysteria it had to be removed!!

A girl in my year got pregnant at 14 and it was assumed that it was by her older boyfriend. Several years later I became quite good friends with her then ex older boyfriend and he assured me that the baby wasn’t his - instead it was her best friend’s dad.

There was a rumour that a student teacher was involved with a female student in my year (Y10) and none of us really believed it. Then when we all came in to get our GCSE results she came in with that teacher with a massive engagement ring and heavily pregnant.

That the (very staid, dour) head of KS4 had been on page 3 of The Sun.

That the Chemistry teacher and the Art teacher were having an affair - apparently they'd been caught together in the prep cupboard! I don't think that was true, but they may well have been a couple.

More perniciously, that one of our teachers in middle school was a paedophile who used to peep at the girls when they were getting changed. He was actually a lovely bloke and I feel awful now that we spread such malicious rumours about him.

Secondary school in the 1970s - rumour was that the music teacher used to sexually assault and grope girls. This one was true - but he wasn't brought to justice until 5 years ago when he was sentenced to 5 years in prison when he pleaded guilty to multiple sexual assaults at several schools and during private music lessons.

Married older female PE teacher having affair with 6th form boy - true. We went to the same uni, she used to come and visit him. Slightly weirdly, they both became vicars. He ended up married to someone else and has had kids, she died.

Boarding school. Rumour was that the new headteacher had been found more than once under the table pissed as a newt after an evening out, and that she was having an affair with the father of one of the pupils. She did disappear after one term, so there may well have been something in it.

Rumour was an assistant PE teacher (early 20s) was sleeping with a yr 8 girl... totally true- I saw them kissing after school behind the PE block. Made me feel very uneasy at the time but didn't quite realise how bad it was. Feel guilty I didn't report it now.

That the art teacher was dating a lower sixth former. It was true because I was putting pottery stuff away in the closet alone one lunchtime when she came in and sat on his knee, not knowing I was in the cupboard.

Another was a sixth former got pregnant and the father was her own grandfathers best friend (in his 70s). That turned out to be true too, when I met her socially many years later she told me.

That the history teacher was an alcoholic. Not true. The poor man was suffering from shell shock from the 2nd world war

The English teacher had a hidden stash of alcohol in her cupboard.

That's probably true! She did go in there a lot and kept spare ski pants and slouch socks in there and certainly appeared to be a piss head

English teacher was an alcoholic who looked down girl's tops. Pretty certainly the alcoholic bit was true- he stank- the girls top one I don't know. Although it was strongly enough believed that even the most rebellious girl did her shirt right up in his class! He left after a few years.

Two stsnd out in college:

One was that a girl was banned from every club in town because she gave all the bouncers the clap.

The other was at least based on truth. A film crew with a z lister came to film in one of the club's. The rumour was that a couple of girls pleasures themselves with bottles and it caused a vacume which sucked out their uteruses. Really hope that was pure rumour!

Secondary school rumours as follows:

RE master was inappropriately interested in young girls
History mistress was having an affair with a male student
PE mistress was gay

All turned out to be true ...
