In your school? That happened to come out as the truth, or a lie?.
Just finished reading a really good thread on it and would love to hear more.
When I was in school the rumour was the classic someone put a mars bar somewhere it shouldn't... and that a teacher was having an affair with a pupil. (Wasn't true). Oh we also had the pe teacher apparently having an affair with the English teacher. That was true!.

Oh and primary, the treasurer stole the blue peter fete money which is why his kids left school abruptly - true, only confirmed when I asked my mum why i never got a blue peter badge

New teacher turned up, had affairs with 1 teacher and 2 mums. Then ran off with one mum. All in 1 year. All true.

Headteacher set himself on fire in the fund cupboard in the chemistry lab - true, I was there.
Chemistry lab had to be evacuated because someone undid the lid on a bottle of some very smelly but dangerous chemicals during an A level lesson. True, it was me.
14 year old got pregnant and had an abortion without parental knowledge. Very true, her mum found out and went to the newspapers, was on TV etc. Very sad for the young girl involved.
Tech teacher was a paedo. True, he was grooming my friend and brought him bottles of vodka in exchange for pictures of his penis.

My sister is a teacher - a child announced that the had 'gone home and died' (she had home to a meeting). It spread like wildfire.

There were some shocked parents when she went into work the next day.

The only rumour I remember was that a girl a few years below me had masturbated using a lava lamp. I imagine it wasn't true, but there was hysteria all over the school about this. I told my mum and she was horrified.

Ah OK, well I do know which one that would be then. Wasn't it a shocker, and a fire that burnt it to the ground, rumour was it was started deliberately in one of the loos. I haven't followed the court case, but someone was committed for it.
Who knew how outting a rumour could be nodrama

Rumor that a very young teacher and student were dating. They married a couple of years after she graduated, so clearly there was chemistry between them. No idea if they behaved themselves prior to graduation or not.

In primary school apparently a girl put her had up another girls shirt, therefore her and her sister were lesbians. I had no idea what a lesbian was and was too scared to talk to her for years after. That still makes me really sad.

PE teacher shagged the hideous IT technician at a works party - unknown

Same IT technician got caught fumbling himself in his office - unknown

A teacher wasn't allowed to give detentions after locking a girl in his room and putting the key down his trousers - unknown but he was an absolute creep and even though we were hideously naughty he never gave anyone a detention

English teacher had an affair with a sixth form tutor - fact, his wife left him and they ended up married soon after she left school.

Male geography teacher used to wear lacy women's underwear - fact, saw it myself when he bent over.

Supposedly in my year one girl ripped her bumhole open when her boyfriend got too vigorous from behind, another had sex in the middle of an under 16s club night and apparently I was pregnant in yr8 much to my surprise.

Primary:
A boy in an older year only had half a brain
A teacher was a lesbian (mainly a rumour amongst parents that we found out later) (untrue she's just had her first child with her husband).
A teacher used to sneak off site at lunch to smoke (he smoked off site but probably had permission)
The Head was an alcoholic (probably true)
Secondary
A TA got fired for hitting a student
A female teacher was in a relationship with the female secretary (true)
2 members of the management team was in a lesbian relationship (which 2 members of management changed weekly) (probably elements of truth)
The music teacher was going through a messy divorce (true)
They couldn't hire a maths teacher because they wanted to pay £10,000 below the going rate (came from the departing teacher so probably true)
A teacher got fired for teaching completely the wrong stuff to his GCSE English group (when asked about whether the wrong stuff was taught in a student council meeting the principle said "that's why we got rid of him")
Sixth Form:
A business teacher and a economics teacher were having an affair (untrue but understandable as far as I know)
The drama teacher did her daughters coursework and gave it an A* (almost certainly true)
Multiple teachers wrote exam papers and the final revision lecture for their groups would basically contain what was needed for the exam and nothing else (true)
A law teacher was absent for a fortnight because he was suspected of murdering his relative (the relative had been murdered but as far as I know the police believe it was other relatives that did the murder but nothing was ever proven)

Not at school but my priest was always rumoured to be a “ladies man” and liked a drink.

Sadly it was true as revealed in a murder trial (he’d had a “relationship” with the victim but wasn’t the accused)

There was an article a couple of months ago on the BBC to say if he was still alive today he’d be charged for many rapes

Music teacher was sleeping with sixth form student (true - they've been married 15 years now).
English teacher was dating tech teacher (true, they got married).
Same English teacher cheated on husband with another teacher and became pregnant, divorced husband and married the other teacher (true).
Science teacher sleeping with sixth former (unknown, but he disappeared suddenly and a teacher that overheard me talking about it gave me detention for gossiping).
Chemistry teacher "liked them young" and dated a girl in my year (sadly true - 15 years after we left school he was convicted of making indecent images of children and grooming. He'd taught at at least 2 Other schools in that time. I ignored that rumour as I didn't want to get detention again, feel bad about that now).
IT mistress was a lesbian (never established the truth, she never married but we saw her out and about with her "flatmate" quite often, was a bit shocking at our school in the 90s).
Deputy head was the child of a celebrity from the 70s (100% true).
Headteacher's wife kicked him out and he was discovered sleeping in his office (true - the caretaker who found out announced it to the PTA).
I was off school with ME, lost loads of weight. When I came back the rumour was I had been in rehab for anorexia and a drug overdose.
