Wibu to ask what the rumour was

In your school? That happened to come out as the truth, or a lie?.
Just finished reading a really good thread on it and would love to hear more.
When I was in school the rumour was the classic someone put a mars bar somewhere it shouldn't... and that a teacher was having an affair with a pupil. (Wasn't true). Oh we also had the pe teacher apparently having an affair with the English teacher. That was true!.

One of my high schools had no rumours except that Miss X the history teacher and Mr X the science teacher were secretly siblings.

The other one though was rife. Test tubes, Mars bars and teachers having affairs left right and centre.

The worst one was that a 3rd year girl had got a teacher drunk on a school trip to France and had sex with him. That followed her for years as "only a drunk guy would". The teacher was later convicted of multiple offences against girls and she was very likely one of them and had got all that grief.

Another was a 5th year lad who was rumoured to have been caught fingering a new young teacher. He was a shit who just smirked and said "a gentleman never tells" and she left shortly after when she was reduced to tears by the relentless finger jokes/comments in her class. He was the HT's nephew so I get the impression she got no support from him.

Apparently our PE teacher was on the old quiz show "15 to one".

He was first out, apparently the question he went out on was:
"What is a Mallard?"
His reply:
"Cheese"

Never found any evidence to back it up, sadly.

Another was that a boy died of an asthma attack in the HT's office (true) because the woman who had the key for the medicine cupboard was on her lunch so they couldn't access his inhaler (very possibly true - they did lock inhalers away). The part that the HT refused to call an ambulance because he didn't like the boy I always assumed was a lie.

We all knew the Drama teacher was having a relationship with a fifth former. Wasn’t so much a rumour as an open secret. She wasn’t the only one over the years sadly. Thankfully he’s in prison now.

At my other school the rumour was that our lovely inspirational science teacher had a previous career inventing a particularly nasty type of anti-personnel weapon that was used by dodgy regimes. That one had more than a grain of truth in it as well.

shrieking she claimed she was 17 when it started- we were all Lower 6th as was, she was held back a year and was in the year below.
We don't know if that was true but that was her story and she stuck to it.

-That the school was over run with rats and they were all being exterminated. Queue over 50 pupils holding a save the rats protest. The placards and chanting warm my heart to this day 😂.

  • The English teacher was an alcoholic- true.
  • The PE teacher was a paedophile- true.
  • The Re teacher and history teacher were having an affair, true.
  • There was a phantom pooer who would go into the music cupboard and shit inside people's instrument cases - true
Once at the school play the curtain pulled back to reveal a shit he'd done- don't think that's true.

Primary school. Female teacher who had slightly greenish-looking highlights in her hair. Everyone said her hair looked green because she wiped her bogies in it. Not true. At least, I don't think it was ...

It was. His Dad went ballistic at the school when I was there when he discovered they still had a policy of taking inhalers from children (it's a high school so no need). So tragic.

I went to a Catholic convent, all girls obviously. We had a fucking awful, vile, abusive bitch of a nun who made our lives a misery. For example, and this is just one example, she gave us an A4 page of a story in French. We were to learn it by heart by the next day or receive a Sunday detention. I was about 11, I was so scared of her I sat up all night learning it and could repeat it in full by the morning. It still makes me angry to this day (it was 38 years ago!). The next day she said "so, who was stupid enough to sit up all night learning that?". With a big smile on her face. We all lifted our hands. She was utterly evil. One day she just disappeared, much to everybody's relief. It was discovered that she was sexually abusing some female boarders so they took the decision to despatch her to an all boys school...where it transpired that she had an affair with the headmaster...who she subsequently married. She was a horrible, awful sex offender and abuser. She should be in prison. She will be dead now and it will be no loss to the world. She is the prime example of somebody who uses the church to cover up her fucking evil core. Urgh.

Eccentric elderly Geography teachers wife and kids had been killed in a car crash : not true

History teacher was having an affair with 6th form student : also not true .

On another note my French teacher was also a part time tv presenter . She was a horrible person . Eventually gave up teaching for full time TV . It still annoys me to see her all sweet on TV when I know how obnoxious she really is . Though I guess that could be said of a lot of celebs

English Teacher got off with a 6th form student in our “booze cruise” leaving party (she wasn’t a 6th form student, but former student of that school who had came along with a current 6th form student). Apparently his wife had recently died

RE teacher having affairs with sixth formers- true, caught in bed with one on a trip
Music teacher and married deputy head-true, much drama and said music teacher running down corridors crying
Same deupty shagging french teacher
Drama teacher used to take her sixth formers to her house to smoke weed- true, told by said sixth formers,completely unsuited to teaching at the time. Shes still there and much improved aparently!

In the last year at primary school the rumour was if the girls stood next to the teacher (at his desk) he would put his hand on your bum (true)
Secondary. Newly married French teacher(f) was having an affair with the PE teacher(m) (true)
Same PE teacher was having an affair with geography teacher (f) at the same time (also true)
Head of Girls had had a mastectomy and had a false boob (her nickname was wooden tit). She was also rumoured to be having an affair with the ( married) head of lower school. (No idea if either was true)
English teacher was an alcoholic. He was one of a group of teachers who went to the pub over the road from the school at lunchtimes. Several went on Fridays but he went every day and reeked of booze in the afternoons.
NQT French teacher was sleeping with a 6th former, he had met at the nightclub where he worked at weekends. (True - he left the school rather abruptly.)
Music teacher was 'dating' a 5th year girl (and same girl throughout 6th form). This was true as they married when she was 18.
There was usually a rumour of a 5th year girl being pregnant and these rumours were usually true. One year there were rumours that a 5th year, 4th year and 1st year were pregnant and unfortunately all were true.
The rumour that the balcony to the main hall was haunted was probably untrue.

Form tutor lived in the cupboard in the back of the room.

He had a sleeping bag, microwave, bike and stacks of pot noodles in there. He got drunk on the last day of the year and locked us in and "play fought" with the boys. Looking back, not sure why we weren't more traumatized.

Deputy head was totally bald and wore a wig.
I see her now and she has the same haircut but grey now - i suspect she gets it trimmed frequently which is why it always looked exactly the same.

Our new PE teacher in secondary school was rumoured to be on Gladiators. Watched it every single Saturday hoping he’d be on. It wasn’t true. Obviously 🤣
