In your school? That happened to come out as the truth, or a lie?.
Just finished reading a really good thread on it and would love to hear more.
When I was in school the rumour was the classic someone put a mars bar somewhere it shouldn't... and that a teacher was having an affair with a pupil. (Wasn't true). Oh we also had the pe teacher apparently having an affair with the English teacher. That was true!.

That our drama teacher was a lesbian (solely based on her being a ‘Ms’).

That our very young technology teacher was having an affair with a girl in my head (in year 11, i think this was) - that one was absolutely true.

Lurkeycakewoman · 27/10/2018 18:49

I wonder did I go to the same school and the priest stories the same thing happened at my school it was an old boys boarding school that switched to mixed maybe in the late 80s early 90s?
The priest confessed to his superiors nothing was done and then went to prison about 10 years after. There was accusations of other priests and a former head master and from what I can gather since I left a geography teacher who used hide in trees spying on people was accused aswell. That's quite sad if it's true he had a wife and kids.

Loyaultemelie · 27/10/2018 18:57

The geography teacher and one of the maths teachers (both married to other people) were having an affair (true)

One of the history teachers used to be a dancer in France (would have been when she was young so 1960s) and kept red wine in a hip flask in her bag (doubtful)

A young history student teacher had an affair with a fifth year (wishful thinking on our part I think!)

GrandTheftWalrus · 27/10/2018 19:08

Girl in the year above used a crunchie to pleasure herself.

Teachers having affairs with pupils and each other.

Music teacher kept whiskey in her drawer.

LukeSkywalkerBoots · 27/10/2018 19:13

Rumour that the male dance teacher was a pervert- true as I saw for myself when he jumped up to see over a cupboard to view us all changing. The girls all screamed.

Another one that the PE teacher was gay. No proof but it seemed like it was likely.

Amazing and appalling how many paedophiles and sick perverts there are out there.

SemperIdem · 27/10/2018 19:16

That a teacher was a raging alcoholic (true and eventually lost his job, after my years there. Died not long afterwards, quite sad)

That a teacher was a having an affair with a pupil (true, went as far as having threesomes and foursomes with another 2 pupils, the teacher went to prison).

CharlesBakerHarris · 27/10/2018 19:48

There was a boy who’d allegedly had sex with a hamster, a girl who’d pleasured herself with a hairbrush at a party and a really formidable French teacher who “apparently” had been a cage dancer when she was younger.

Then two biology teachers apparently having an affair (don’t think that was true) and a female food tech teacher and male PE teacher. That last one was true - they got married and had a baby... as far as I know they’re still together.

We also had a politics A Level teacher and sixth form student relationship which was true... she went on to write speeches for the prime minister.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 27/10/2018 19:52

Lurkeycakewoman: big redbrick place in the Midlands, Pugin chapel? I went to that one when it was single sex, and we all knew which members of staff were to be avoided. Dreadful place, with the worst exam results of any private school in the country.

Shriekingbanshee · 27/10/2018 19:54

Can we take it easy on the beastiality and other groteque shit rumours, finding them pretty sickening tbh

veggiethrower · 27/10/2018 20:04

All girls independent:
several rumours that various teachers were lesbian. In fact rumours went round about all of the unmarried teachers that they were lesbian.
No idea which, if any, were lesbian but I think it was awful of us, tittering on about teachers being lesbians all the time.
The one male teacher allegedly had an affair with a sixth former and supposedly had sex in the PE cupboard.
A male technician was also supposed to have had an affair with a student - met him years later and he's gay, always has been and never been with a woman - so that rumour was obviously not true.

Seafour · 27/10/2018 20:14

Gosh so many:

Primary school Headteacher was dead - turned out he jumped off beachyhead.

Lots of local families involved in a train crash (outing from local rail workers social club) loads of rumours about injuries, deaths etc all turned out to be far worse than the rumours- had a lasting effect on me.

Secondary, you can buy speed and weed from one of the science teachers - true

I was pregnant at 14 also true! She's beautiful and all grown up.

ConfusedMum82 · 27/10/2018 20:21

Thought of another one.
At the start of Year 10, rumour went round that the mean beast of a female PE teacher had opened up the PE teachers pavilion and had run out vomiting. Apparently, someone had hidden a good amount of fresh fish in there between the last day of the term before the summer hols and the first day back. It was in 1995 when we had that really hot summer.
Lo and behold, the Pavilion was indeed roped off and PE teacher nowhere to be seen for a week.
All manner of culprits were pointed at by staff and pupils alike but no one was ever punished.
It was nerdy, goody two shoes, me.
Every year, she used to force a pupil to tidy the Pavilion and lock up whilst the teachers naffed off down the pub. My equally nerdy best mate told me to volunteer and I thought she was mad until she said we needed to get the old cow back for being so disgusting for the last few years. I even got house points.
Mates dad used to go fishing and they had a deep freeze in their garage with loads of fish in it. She lived 2 minutes away so, at midday when the school shut, she nipped home and grabbed some.
We proceeded to dump it in the basketballs, the hockey sticks, you name it, we stuffed frozen fish in it, then casually locked up and posted the keys in a box in the secretaries office.
No one ever considered it had anything to do with me. I was asked but said some sixth form boys I didn't know had come to collect something before I locked up.
We never told anyone it was us until our ten year reunion, at which point we were bought quite a few drinks!

Binglebong · 27/10/2018 20:41

I'm proud of you Confused!Grin

Some of these are disgusting and OK, kids say stupid stuff but what’s with repeating them twenty years later?

It's not as if these are outing. They are completely anonymous and couldn't be connected with any school. Mainly just an example of the stupid things kids believe (or claim to believe anyway!)

There was a boy who’d allegedly had sex with a hamster,

I'm just trying to work out how they thought this was possible?! I've heard the one about a girl putting a gerbil up her fanny but cannot work out how this was was meant to have occurred.Confused

Maelstrop · 27/10/2018 20:46

That the English teacher had a glass eye, no idea, it definitely wasn’t normal. That he was having an affair with the PE teacher, true because they then married.

That the French teacher was a paedophile, dunno but he did go round the A level class and told us who he thought was the prettiest girl.

That two PE teachers were lesbians and living together, true, one of them announced it to the class, bearing in mind it was the 80s in a girls’ Catholic convent school, perhaps not the best move!

anitagreen · 27/10/2018 20:50

I haven't caught up with all replies yet but the test tube rumour was always that a girl had stolen one from the science lab/room
And stuck it up her playing with herself in her room, and her parents walked in she clamped her legs shut and it smashed and had to go hospital.. this was told whenever someone never turned up for school 😂 x

JustDanceAddict · 27/10/2018 20:52

Alcoholic history teacher - pretty much true! There must be one in every school!!

JustDanceAddict · 27/10/2018 20:55

Confused medal for you! I hated one of our PE teachers, she was a sadist and if you were rubbish at PE she’d take an instant dislike to you.,

anitagreen · 27/10/2018 21:08

@Blackladybug that's the one!

Goady post Bingle

mermaidsandunicorns · 27/10/2018 21:18

In primary the rumour was the boiler house was haunted by the ghost of a dead former pupil.

A tramp was living in the woods at the bottom of our playing field so we weren't allowed to play on the field for a while and the rumour spread that he was a murderer!

In secondary the female p.e teacher was having a fling with the female English teacher (ended up being true)

veggiethrower · 27/10/2018 21:19

Girl stole silver nitrate from the chemistry lab and put it in the headmistress' tea. True.

pizzicato · 27/10/2018 21:20

Most probably the same Secondary school Music teacher in the early 70's as Lunde mentioned up thread. Mr C. All round perv. Used to give breathing lessons in his "cupboard" to the singers and woodwind pupils.Fortunately never did anything to me. I actually walked in on him one day in his cupboard to see his hand up the back of one girl's shirt.Of course in those days you didn't say anything. About 10 years ago I started getting flashback memories of him and then read a few years back that he had been caught at last and was in prison for historic and recent offences.
The lovely middle aged male Physics teacher had a nervous breakdown in a lesson and started crying.I have never forgotten. He ran out and we sat there stunned not knowing what to do. I think someone went to tell the Head.
Various pupils getting pregnant and one shagging the school groundsman.True.
Deputy Head died when a wardrobe fell on her. True.

drspouse · 27/10/2018 21:23

Girl in the year below appeared topless in a tabloid and had an affair with an elderly celeb. True!

useyourimagination · 27/10/2018 21:24

Primary - that two teachers were having an affair; all the parents knew about it when we used to come home and tell them that Mrs X and Mr Y spent ages in the cupboard looking for pens. It was true.

Secondary - there was a murder (true) in the local area and it was rumoured that two girls in my year were involved. Not quite true - one had nothing whatsoever to do with it, the other was a witness of some description (can't remember what sort now - possibly a character witness?).

ConfusedMum82 · 27/10/2018 21:25

Thank you @Binglebong and @JustDanceAddict. It's my proudest moment if school. People were properly shocked when they found out it was me and my friend even ten years on.
