In your school? That happened to come out as the truth, or a lie?.
Just finished reading a really good thread on it and would love to hear more.
When I was in school the rumour was the classic someone put a mars bar somewhere it shouldn't... and that a teacher was having an affair with a pupil. (Wasn't true). Oh we also had the pe teacher apparently having an affair with the English teacher. That was true!.

That a couple a few years above had bum sex round the back of the swimming pool

LanceStatersGold · 27/10/2018 16:14

Middle school - that a Year 8 was found in a compromising situation with a chicken. I suspect true as he was later arrested as an adult for similar offences and one that involved a tractor.

Laiste · 27/10/2018 16:16

OH we had a slightly different version of the test tube rumor - ours went that a girl in year 10 had been masturbating with a glass bottle neck first (like you do) and the suction had made a vacuum inside her and when she pulled hard to remove it she sucked her fanny inside out!

The main rumor which occurs to me was the one which went round our high school in one day, and thinking about it now this was the most bizzare thing. Almost like a mass hysteria ...

The rumor shot round the school that the roof of the upper floor was about to collapse, including the main hall, and that the class rooms were no longer safe and that any kids who were meant to have lessons up there needed to go home. And you know what? LOADS of kids just walked out of school on the strength of it! One or two actually went and then class loads all just walked out after lunch instead of going to their lessons. I was one of them. I remember phone calls to the school by loads of parents and letters home the next day and general uproar. Madness!

PawneeParksDept · 27/10/2018 16:16

Oh there were a few

Drama teacher and talented drama student having an affair (true but before my time there)

English teacher (female) had sex with male sixth former at the leavers ball (true)

A risqué photo of one of the English teachers had been seen in "Readers Wives" section of an adult mag (not sure)

Teachers son had been suspended for selling cannabis at school (true)

One of the Maths teachers was an alcoholic (true)

bringincrazyback · 27/10/2018 16:22

That there was a dead seagull in the water tank that supplied drinking water to the sixth-form block. Everyone seemed to believe it, and these are supposedly intelligent A-Level students I'm talking about.

Wednesdaypig · 27/10/2018 16:22

It was the job of the 6th formers to tell the 1st formers that the sewing mistress had had her hips blown off in the war. The only way her skirt stayed up was that she had wire mesh ones grafted on either side of her body. I never ever considered it was a rumour until decades later.

WyfOfBathe · 27/10/2018 16:22

That one of the French teachers was having an affair with the local priest. (Not a church school, but quite a lot of Catholic students). I know that they were friends, but think the affair rumour probably wasn't true.

There were many fleeting rumours about various affairs, or teachers being gay. Probably some true and some not.

That one of the boys in the year above had been held back so many times that he was in his 20s, but still in middle school. Not true, I think he was 17 in a class of 15 year olds (not that unusual in that country).

StaffiesAndPonies · 27/10/2018 16:28

In primary school there was a rumour that one teacher liked to rub his willy on the corner of the desk while talking to the class - no idea if that was true.

In secondary school, a teacher supposedly began behaving oddly and going round the class stroking girls’ hair and faces before shouting ‘I’m a lesbian and a Jehovah’s Witness!’ and running out of the school. The truth was that she did have some sort of breakdown, but the details were a little exaggerated.

Shriekingbanshee · 27/10/2018 16:30

Female teacher (married) had affair with male teacher, jealous husband killed one or both I can't remember, but true.

Female sports teacher was 'a lesbo' as was so beautifully put, but certainly did watch the girls run through the showers (pubescent), so gay and letchy, or just making sure sweaty girls did actually get wash themselves! Did happen what interpretation to put on it don't know.

Maths teacher was an alcoholic likely true but not confirmed

English female teacher affair with married male pe teacher. They were seen out together and his marriage ended.

Paedophile activity and several teachers arrested charged and sentenced

Another 'lesbo' teacher, wasn't at all, or life choices didn't say so.

Headmaster affair with deputy Head. Unsubstantiated, but did seem very likely.

Isleepinahedgefund · 27/10/2018 16:33

In primary school in the 1980s, it was that the new headmistress bought her clothes at Marks and Spencer's.

At high school, there was a rumour of an affair between two teachers, one of whom was married. They came back married after the summer holidays, never worked out how she got divorced so fast!

Also that the English master with a glass eye was having repeated affairs with sixth formers. We never found out if it was true, and to our disappointment he left the year before we went into the 6th, as we felt sure the only way we would find out was if he tried to have affairs with one or the other of us.

Oh, and that our headmistress either was, or was related to, Cadfael - on account of her hair cut.

Celestia26 · 27/10/2018 16:35

We had the PE teacher and English teacher one too! Also the Mars bar one!

Lots of pregnancy rumours too. Only one was true, and the baby is now a 17 year old!

PiperPublickOccurrences · 27/10/2018 16:35

That a witch lived in the house along the road from the school with a very overgrown hedge. She would lure children into the garden with sweets and so you had to cross over to the other side of the road rather than walk past.

That one probably wasn't true, looking back.

AJPTaylor · 27/10/2018 16:36

Middle School. Deputy Head had an unhealthy interest in boys. It was the Early 80s and none of us had heard of paedophilia. We did however know all about him. Several boys in my year have evidence at his trial years later.
Fifth year. Girl slept with a dirty goat of a teacher. It seems he had someone most years.
What is terrible is that these weren't rumours but actual fact and none of us ever knew to tell anyone.

BareBelliedSneetch · 27/10/2018 16:38

We had an alleged alcoholic history teacher swigging away in cupboard too. No idea if it was true.

Physics teacher who was a perve - I don’t think so.

Kid who’d stuck pencils up his nose and fallen forward and died - also doubtful.

Someone who’d put mars bars up their fanny - I doubt it.

So many staff/staff or staff/6th form affair rumours. Some were, true some weren’t.

Rumours of random tunnels from under the stage that went to all sorts of alleged places.

Ghosts in the clock tower.

School was full of so much bullshit! Grin

ClaryFray · 27/10/2018 16:39

We had a teacher sleeping with a pupil rumour, until she turnt up pregnant and the dad beat the teacher up at home time.

Ah innocent days!

BearSoFair · 27/10/2018 16:40

In primary one of our teachers left very suddenly, only a few weeks into the new year. School never said why, kids imaginations ran wild and everyone decided he'd probably died and they hadn't told us so we wouldn't be upset. As a teenager I ran into him locally, he was always easily recognisable (very distinctive facial hair!) and couldn't stop myself from blurting out "Mr G?!?! But everyone said you were dead!" Blush Blush not my finest moment. Turns out his son had actually been taken very ill (thankfully he recovered) and he'd left to be with his family then changed career.

Dahlietta · 27/10/2018 16:41

Oh, the pencils up the nose - I'd forgotten about that! In our version, a student had committed suicide that way Hmm
Otherwise, our French teacher was having an affair with an English teacher (not true as far as I know)
English teacher was a lesbian (true, I think)
Music teacher was having an affair with a sixth former (no idea. He was a bit creepy, but she was a fantasist so could go either way).
I've also heard the glass bottle sucking your fanny out version of the test tube rumour Hmm. God, the sophistication of teenagers!!

IratusCats · 27/10/2018 16:42

Music teacher and art teacher had an affair, turned out to be true. Music teacher and his wife split after this.
Music teacher used to date sixth form students, turned out to be true.
English teacher was an alcoholic, probably true.
Head of year had an affair with a parent, turned out to be true.
A girl in my year had sex with someone in the art block toilets, was true.

Scoleah · 27/10/2018 16:43

That a Girl shoved a frozen sausage up herself

The Geography Teacher used to keep whisky in the bottle in his Cupboard.

Pe teacher used to purposely wear short shorts so the girls could see his ballsack

MulticolourMophead · 27/10/2018 16:44

We had the rumour about an English teacher who had apparently tried to commit suicide by jumping from an upper floor classrooom window. Not sure if that's true, but she was definitely someone who had MH issues and had spent some time off sick.

I'd feel sorry for her but at the time I never liked her and the feeling had clearly been mutual. She consistently wrote in my reports I'd barely scrape through the English O level, and I managed to get an A (we didn't have A*) with a very high mark.

MulticolourMophead · 27/10/2018 16:46

Oh yeah, should mention the rumour about a male 6th former having an affair with a female teacher. True, was my cousin and they've been married for years.

itssquidstella · 27/10/2018 16:47

The music teacher actually did have an affair with a sixth former - that wasn't a rumour, though; only her friends knew.

Sixth form boy had an affair with the Spanish teacher - think that one was true, actually.

canihaveyourstupidhat · 27/10/2018 16:48

That a boy had sex with a sheep at a party and charged people £5 to watch.

LivingForNaptime · 27/10/2018 16:49

At school I was almost always the subject of the rumours. I have no idea why, I was a pretty normal kid, fairly good 'all rounder' and quite an outgoing personality but nothing particularly special and I was really quite sheltered and naive.

By the time I left school I had apparently slept with a load of teachers, taken loads of drugs and was a dealer, shagged all the local bouncers to get into nightclubs, starred in a porno Hmm and God knows what else. I couldn't keep up with the rumours about me. In reality I was playing in the band at church each Sunday and going to Girl Guides and Highland Dancing during the week. All very strange.

IslaMann · 27/10/2018 16:58

Deputy headmistress was a widow (true) and her husband had been decapitated while she was driving the car (hopefully untrue).

Head of house having affair with much younger Home Ec teacher (true, they married one summer holiday).

PE teacher was a lesbian (true).

Chemistry teacher was a Morris dancer (true) and an alcoholic (unsure, prob untrue).
