To think this “hilarious” card is actually depressing?

I have 2 DDs and hate how this kind of crap is being normalised. Fucking hilarious Layla Hmm

YANBU.

It actually sounds like he's shoved it up without asking.

But 'no harm done

I might actually email them.

DawnFrenchKiss · 05/10/2018 00:56

What is being normalised? Anal sex? Is it pretty normal.

DawnFrenchKiss · 05/10/2018 00:57

Oh. Hm.

IntensiveCareBear · 05/10/2018 00:58

If it's consensual why would he need to argue 'no harm done' ?

Singlenotsingle · 05/10/2018 00:59

Just. Not. Funny. Biscuit to Layla, not you OP.

Decanter · 05/10/2018 01:00

Are you asking me or telling me DawnFrenchKiss?

YANBU

Disquieted1 · 05/10/2018 01:01

Bang out of order.
Though by posting the link on mumsnet they'll have a good hit rate and consider their marketing campaign a success.

WTFIsAGleepglorp · 05/10/2018 01:03

They're proper charmer, aren't they?

Disquieted1 · 05/10/2018 01:06

Seriously though, mumsnet probably gets about a million times the traffic of this obscure website. They're loving this.

Decanter · 05/10/2018 01:07

Hope not Disquited1 Blush

Decanter · 05/10/2018 01:07

Do we just not talk about it though?

OP posts:
MintedLamb · 05/10/2018 01:09

On first glance I assume that the card is from the woman to the man and she's giving him permission for anal?

IntensiveCareBear · 05/10/2018 01:10

Perhaps if everyone on here emails a complaint and li is to this thread they will see it isn't positive traffic?

Disquieted1 · 05/10/2018 01:12

OP sorry if I came across as sanctimonious, this is an important subject. I'm just a little frustrated that their marketing people will consider this a success.

Decanter · 05/10/2018 01:13

I guess it is subjective MintedLamb, but I wouldn’t have read it that way at all.

Still vile.

Decanter · 05/10/2018 01:15

Not at all Disquited1. I get where you’re coming from. I should probably have replaced the link with other text.

SallyVating · 05/10/2018 01:15

Ugh

SecretWitch · 05/10/2018 01:16

Almost as bad is the wine wrapper stating “ I will let you finger me after this bottle”. Just yuk.

CantSleepClownsWillEatMe · 05/10/2018 01:19

While it doesn't appeal to my sense of humour at all I think it's a stretch to say a silly rhyme suggests non consensual sex or that "he needs to argue" anything, whoever "he" might be Hmm.

It's in their Anniversary section, it's hardly aimed at rapists! "No harm done" could just as easily mean "not knocked up" or "See DH, I knew you'd enjoy my strap on". Again, it (and the other cards I've skimmed) wouldn't appeal to me at all but I can't see why people's thoughts would immediately go to rape.

Decanter · 05/10/2018 01:25

Actually CantSleep, my immediate thoughts were that actually, yeah, a lot of harm can come from anal sex, and messages like that pressurise girls into doing it anyway because it’s being normalised and hilarious and oh so cool. Everything is subjective and already in a few replies the reasons people find it vile are varied. General concensus is that it’s still vile though.

DarkDarkNight · 05/10/2018 01:30

‘Our cards are hilarious’ no, they’re really not. Who buys these things? It’s like 6th form humour, I’d be embarrassed to hand one of these to someone.

About that card though, I’d assume the ‘no harm done’ referred to not risking getting pregnant rather than anything else. But it’s a really shit card.

NinjaLeprechaun · 05/10/2018 01:31

"If it's consensual why would he need to argue 'no harm done' ?"

One of two options:

  1. Because there's no (or very little) chance of getting pregnant. b) Because "anal doesn't count" - which is apparently how a lot of women from very strict religious backgrounds are "virgins" on their wedding night. (Under this system oral sex is also not sex, and therefore doesn't count.)

I'm not going to argue that the card is funny, but I don't see it promoting anything non-consensual either.

CallMeRachel · 05/10/2018 01:33

Grim.
Anal is certainly not normal in my circle.
Again, porn influence.

Poor show Layla Envy
