To think my DH is useless at the most basic task?

Not feeling great earlier so DH offered to go to the supermarket for a few bits we needed. I wrote a very detailed list:

Ham (naice)
Carrots x2 bags
Sausages (at least 18 thick)
Cheap birthday card

DH then rang from the supermarket to check what kind of ham he should buy (I buy the same ham weekly and always have.....) so I described, in detail, the honey roast ham in the black packet.

DH came home with the following:

Cheap, nasty ham in a clear packet
A tiny packet of carrot batons (there are 7 of us at home this weekend for dinner)
2 packets of 8 sausages
A birthday card that cost £3!

Wibu to LTB? He’s bloody hopeless! (I do love him lots though).

Oh dear, did he get it right when you sent him back out again?

Kattyy · 02/09/2018 23:31

Haha... men for you! (Shielding from all the mn-s who will start throwing stones). You need sth done properly, find a busy woman:)

Hideandgo · 02/09/2018 23:32

What the actual fuck! Is he stupid?

garethsouthgatesmrs · 02/09/2018 23:33

How can he have got it so wrong? I mean that is an impressive level of uselessness! Do you normally do everything?

IdahoJones · 02/09/2018 23:34

That's pathetic. I'd say that of man or woman.

garethsouthgatesmrs · 02/09/2018 23:34

Oh come on Kattyy you don't actually think all men are like that? Most men can do a bit of shopping for goodness sake!

805Thistle · 02/09/2018 23:37

I don’t get the issue with the sausages.

That said, I had to go out on Christmas Bloody Eve looking for Christmas Crackers.

They had been on DH’s highly detailed list but he still came home with Jacobs.Angry

Parisbun · 02/09/2018 23:38

I can only hope he was turned around and sent back to get the right things.
Its the only way he will learn not to piss about. Anything less than this is allowing him to pull the oldest trick in the book and not have to do anything .Because hes so hopeless you see.

SwordToFlamethrower · 02/09/2018 23:38

Can't he decide to buy what he thinks is best? Does he cook at home? If not then fair enough I suppose. But if he does some cooking then he should be able to have a say?

Maybe he likes cheap ham. Maybe he likes that card. Consider that you may be too controlling.

Horridhenry88 · 02/09/2018 23:40

She asked for at least 1i. He got 16.

Horridhenry88 · 02/09/2018 23:41

18

Ohyesiam · 02/09/2018 23:42

But SwordtoFlamethrower he bought too few sausages and carrots for the meal. That’s not choice , it’s not seeing what the priorities are, and incompetence.

Basta · 02/09/2018 23:46

Yes, that is indeed an impressive level of bloody useless.

garethsouthgatesmrs · 02/09/2018 23:46

Also he rang her to ask her to describe the ham and still got the wrong ine. I mean wtf? If my DH rang me to ask me to describe ham I would be questioning whether I do too much for him.

tillytop · 02/09/2018 23:49

That's deliberate, so that you never ask him to shop again! DH once admitted he used to make rubbish cuppa's so that he wasn't asked again!

SneakyGremlins · 02/09/2018 23:51

Kattyy I always get exactly what's on the list but thanks Hmm

Fairenuff · 02/09/2018 23:51

YABU

Presumably you know your dh and in your normal life he doesn't shop. Why you choose to live like this I have no idea but I'm surprised that you're surprised.

user139328237 · 02/09/2018 23:57

If you can afford posh ham you can afford a £3 birthday card. 16 is probably better than 24 sausages if they were only available in 8 packs, and it really won't hurt you to have a different kind of ham for a week (if you want a particular sort you should buy it yourself) so the only real issue is the carrots.

ketchuponpizza · 03/09/2018 00:10

Possibly outing but this is what I found after DH had made everyone ham sandwiches.

WTF was I supposed to do with the left overs?

Idiot.

To think my DH is useless at the most basic task?
tillytop · 03/09/2018 00:36

Why are many of us married to idiots? Because we're also idiots, allowing it to continue! Sobering thought.

Ethylred · 03/09/2018 01:13

Loving the photo above.
That man does not compromise. Respect.

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 03/09/2018 01:15

I don’t think he did too bad tbf

SilverySurfer · 03/09/2018 02:01

Isn't it amazing how these men are fully capable of holding down a job but when it comes to basic tasks like shopping or housework they become professionally incompetent. Of course the whole idea is that if they do it badly enough they will never be asked again = a win/win for them Hmm

LellyMcKelly · 03/09/2018 02:18

Well, it looks like he’s having crappy ham sandwiches all weekend, not enough sausages, and no carrots. These people are not idiots. They’re screwing up so they don’t have to do it again.

SleepingStandingUp · 03/09/2018 02:25

Agree its deliberate so you never ask him to do YOUR jobs again. It was hardly a long complicated list
