DH left kids alone at night

AIBU? I came home from work to find kids asleep, and no sign of my DH.

He came back 15mins later claims he was at neighbours. Has been 'popping back' to check on them.

I am not impressed. He thinks it's 'borderline' but did it anyway. Apparently oldest DD was awake and aware of where he was, when he went.

happytobemrsg · 14/05/2018 22:35

How old are they?

CFTrollsSmell · 14/05/2018 22:35

How old are the kids?

MrsJayy · 14/05/2018 22:36

What does he mean Borderline ? What age are the children.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 14/05/2018 22:37

What was he doing there?

nottakenpersonally · 14/05/2018 22:37

He was chatting about hobbies with neighbour, nothing serious.

No no no. That’s not on. And I’m pretty lax.

RoderickRules · 14/05/2018 22:39

Its not borderline.
It’s a no no.

And I’ve been flames in here for leaving mine in the day while I work, and who are a lot older!

Bunchofdaffodils · 14/05/2018 22:39

Standing outside chatting to next door neighbor? Or inside the house?

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 14/05/2018 22:40

How far is next door? Did he lock up while he was gone?

DontDrinkDontSmoke · 14/05/2018 22:40

DH is a dick.

Is your house immune to fires, burglars...kidnappers even.

KurriKurri · 14/05/2018 22:40

It's not borderline, it's way over the line. The children are too young to be left alone - how many other times do you think he has done it and not been caught?

CaledonianQueen · 14/05/2018 22:40

Why on earth was he at your neighbours? Leaving your children alone at night is awful! I would want to know how often he was leaving your children alone whilst you are working and why!

higherupper · 14/05/2018 22:40

Whaat? So he was gone long enough for 8 year old to fall asleep?

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 14/05/2018 22:41

What do people think could have happened? Confused

Incarnationsofunderstanding · 14/05/2018 22:41

Ok so literally in the front garden, door open chatting over the fence?

Or door shut, next door having a cuppa??

Dozer · 14/05/2018 22:41

Idiot

LotsToThinkOf · 14/05/2018 22:41

YANBU, I'd be livid and I wouldn't trust him again. What an idiot.

cadburyegg · 14/05/2018 22:42

A 3 year old Shock

I don't think unimpressed would cover it, I'd be spitting blood

nottakenpersonally · 14/05/2018 22:42

Thanks for your replies. Neighbour is very close. If both outside we could hear/ see each other.

Drip, drip, drip...

Aprilmightbemynewname · 14/05/2018 22:43

Bet it wasn't the first time.
I remember when we first moved to a new estate, a neighbour came out and chatted for 45 mins, when he called us over to look at something in his garden I saw through the window his dd (8 months) in a high chair in front of the TV!! The whole time she had been sat there!!
They say first impressions count and it put me right off him.
Wonder what your neighbours think of your dh....

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 14/05/2018 22:44

YANBU, I'd be livid and I wouldn't trust him again

Total overreaction. If the oldest child wasn't upset and knew where her dad was and that he would be back in 15 mins, what exactly is the problem?

MrsJayy · 14/05/2018 22:44

So they were outside the house chatting?
