Someone At Door 😣

It’s 19.13, I’ve just put 2yo dd to bed, done all my housework, been at work all day, so about to have a lovely hot bath and someone is knocking at my door, door is locked, not expecting anyone, my dp is working nights. AIBU not to answer or even check who it is...I’m scared

It 1913. Open the door.

thatwhichwecallarose · 15/02/2018 19:16

I’d ask who it is through the door personally. Then decide!

LondonHereICome · 15/02/2018 19:17

Scared?? Get a grip!

Prob a charity or cold caller

mustbemad17 · 15/02/2018 19:17

Ignore ignore ignore. If it's someone you know they have your number. If it was the police they'd knock more insistantly. If it's a stranger then they can get to fuck knocking tbh!!

Winterfellismyhome · 15/02/2018 19:18

Ask who it is?..

Sammymommy · 15/02/2018 19:18

Are there really people who are scared when someone comes at the door?

Aquamarine1029 · 15/02/2018 19:18

Don't open the door. Either ignore or speak through it. You are under no obligation to open your door to anyone, especially if you feel apprehensive.

TiffanyAtBreakfast · 15/02/2018 19:18

I'd be freaked out too, nobody calls around uninvited here! Ignore it. Or run upstairs and try to see who it is out of the window!

StealthPolarBear · 15/02/2018 19:19

Why are you scared

MrsPicklesonSmythe · 15/02/2018 19:19

By the time you posted this they would have already gone so......

ScreamingValenta · 15/02/2018 19:19

Do you have a security chain you can put on before opening? I understand how you feel - I automatically feel panicky if the door bell rings at an unusual time.

Wakeuptortoise · 15/02/2018 19:19

It's the neighbour, caught short and wanting to borrow a bedtime nappy. Get a grip.

crazyoldfish · 15/02/2018 19:19

I would assume it was a parcel... maybe for a neighbour

kimlo · 15/02/2018 19:20

someone just knocked on my door, it was the window cleaner.

It's not late, it'll be no one scary.

MrsGrindah · 15/02/2018 19:20

Can’t believe your first thought is to start a thread about it....

shushpenfold · 15/02/2018 19:20

It could be your neighbour!!! This one is up to you OP...good luck x

spagbol11 · 15/02/2018 19:20

To the posters saying just open the door- not helpful, I have 2 children in the house and am home alone. It’s dark and I don’t want the dog to wake dd up. Can’t of been important they have stopped now.

SundaySalon · 15/02/2018 19:20

Ignore it! I never answer the door when I am home alone, no one would show up unannounced here so it’s either someone selling, neighbours or a parcel (which they leave in the porch if I don’t answer) go have your bath!

FayJay · 15/02/2018 19:21

Why are you scared? Its 7 in the evening not midnight. And they just rang your bell, they didn’t attempt to break in! Dozens of perfectly innocent reasons - pizza delivery meant for neighbour or an chugger or someone from the Mormons.

Klobuchar · 15/02/2018 19:21

How long did they knock for?

PinkHeart5914 · 15/02/2018 19:21

Your scared because someone knocked your door at 19 13? Why has nobody not even a charity collector or similar ever knocked your door? Or a courier asking you to take a parcel for someone?

If you don’t want to answer then don’t but I think being scared is a bit OTT

OnionKnight · 15/02/2018 19:21

How do people live?!

Why the fuck are you scared of the door?

spagbol11 · 15/02/2018 19:22

shush—I was thinking that 🙄 xx

OP posts:
Isadora2007 · 15/02/2018 19:22

Well you did ask if you were BU so why moan when people say yes you were.
My 5 year old doesn’t freak if the doorbell goes at 7.15pm- I think it’s pretty odd a fully grown woman does. 🙄

Vitalogy · 15/02/2018 19:22

I don't open the door to randoms, day or night. Your door your choice.
