Would this seem odd to you?

First day off sick and someone else had to call in sick on their behalf.

MumGoneMild · 04/02/2018 16:32

No. Unless they are off cause they lost both eyes and arms.

babyccinoo · 04/02/2018 16:32

I didn't know sick people aren't allowed on FB

corlan · 04/02/2018 16:32

No.
Why does it seem odd to you?

OnionKnight · 04/02/2018 16:32

No?

Why is it odd? People off sick can go on Facebook.

slippermaiden · 04/02/2018 16:33

If I was off sick I could lay in bed and go on Facebook. Why not?

kimlo · 04/02/2018 16:33

no, most requests come up on peoples phone and it takes 2 seconds to press accept.

RideOn · 04/02/2018 16:33

They were off sick and accepted your Facebook friend request?

Do you mean they shouldn’t be on Facebook if they are off sick???

I don’t think I get what you are asking.

SwarmOfCats · 04/02/2018 16:33

Did you send them the request?
What do you expect people to do if they’re off work sick; are they not supposed to be on Facebook?

I’m not sure what’s supposed to be odd about this - more details might be needed.

MissMary0fSweden · 04/02/2018 16:33

Called in sick? Or called in dead?

babyccinoo · 04/02/2018 16:34

You know you can accept FB friend requests on your phone right?

She's not necessarily on her laptop in a study whatever you imagine.

Thistlebelle · 04/02/2018 16:34

Why is it odd?

Spouse calls in sick because they are so nauseous/weak/stuck on the loo that they can’t talk. Doesn’t mean they can’t lie in bed feeling miserable idly clickly “accept” on their phone.

Butttons · 04/02/2018 16:34

Are you not allowed on Facebook if you're off sick? What about mumsnet??!!

RideOn · 04/02/2018 16:34

They might have lost their voice or be vomiting but their thumbs might still work?

ladybirdie26 · 04/02/2018 16:34

@MissMary0fSweden hahahaha this made me LOL

tiredbutFESTIVE · 04/02/2018 16:35

It always seems odd to me that people want to snitch that someone off sick has been on Fb, been functioning as a person etc. I heard of one woman dobb3d in for being seen on the bus when she had a broken ankle (taking kids to school wearing ankle cast) off work sick means too ill to do a shift of x hours at work, not too ill to go to a shop or pos5 on social media ffs

MrMeSeeks · 04/02/2018 16:35

Not really

Fairylea · 04/02/2018 16:35

It is perfectly possible to be ill and go on Facebook.

MsHomeSlice · 04/02/2018 16:36

well if they are posting pics of the massive and bounteous cocktails they were swigging last night as they limbo-ed under a nubile youth in skimpy pants then maybe you have a point, but otherwise, not so much

Have a proper beaky neb and let us know if they are skiving or no.

GlitterGlue · 04/02/2018 16:37

Depends. Got someone else to ring in as they have a severe migraine and can't even open their eyes? Unreasonable as they've clearly made a miraculous recovery.

Got someone to ring in as they've completely lost their voice and they work in in a customer facing role? Reasonable.

ConfusedButInLove · 04/02/2018 16:37

If it's a throat problem type sickness they couldn't speak on a phone.
When I am sick I mess around on Facebook.

FaithEverPresent · 04/02/2018 16:37

I had months off sick recently and didn’t post on FB at all for fear that people would judge me for this! Depends what they are off with really. Mine was pain, I couldn’t work until I had an op. All I really could do was sit at home on my phone and doing crochet...
I did suggest to an old colleague that it wasn’t wise to have photos of yourself (date and time stamped) on Facebook of a night out, doing shots and dancing when you were off sick with d&v. (A polite pm). She said to our manager she was being bullied! No big loss when she quit.

cowatthegate · 04/02/2018 16:37

I was on Facebook Messenger literally on the operating table during my c section (planned I may add haha) organising childcare for my dc.

user1485342611 · 04/02/2018 16:38

I was off sick last week. I was still able to get out of bed at lunchtime and spend the afternoon watching telly.

I hate this attitude that anyone off sick shouldn't move out of their bedroom, let alone their house. Not being well enough to go to work doesn't necessarily mean you're not well enough to use the internet. Why is it any different to someone sitting up in bed reading a book or magazine?

Waitinforaflamin · 04/02/2018 16:38

I was ill all day yesterday in bed. I also commented on MN and FB and pissed around on the internet. I wouldn’t have been in any state to go to work due to the illness (and frankly people wouldn’t have wanted me there!). But I did have periods of time where I wasn’t sleeping or being ill that I was bored. YABVU (if you think it’s odd!)
