Would this seem odd to you?

OP posts:
duffaho · 04/02/2018 18:06

My friend had a lumpectomy on Tuesday. Once she came round from the anaestheic and back on the recovery ward she messaged to say the op was over.
Guess she should have taken a taxi straight back to work rather than going home.

Whatwouldkeithrichardsdo · 04/02/2018 18:18

This is why you should never have work colleagues on your fb.

PurpleDaisies · 04/02/2018 18:19

This is why you should never have work colleagues on your fb.

No it isn’t! Literally nobody thinks the person was unreasonable to be on Facebook when they were off I’ll.

PurpleDaisies · 04/02/2018 18:20

Ill^

Jenna43 · 04/02/2018 18:20

That's quite ridiculous, there's nothing wrong with that at all.

MonaTheMoaner · 04/02/2018 18:22

I have a chronic pain condition. If I'm bed bound I'm often still on my phone to give me something to do and interact.

YABU.

BeyondWitchbitchterf · 04/02/2018 18:27

Mona, me too. Flowers
I'm in bed right now on my iPad Grin

MonaTheMoaner · 04/02/2018 18:28

Beyond Thanks

Forever on my phone when unwell. It gives me something to focus on that isn't my crap body.

Whatwouldkeithrichardsdo · 04/02/2018 18:36

@PurpleDaisies

Yes, nobody on here seems to have a problem with being on fb when you are off sick and yet the question was asked.

Employment tribunals due to social media use and social media being used as evidence to bring about dismissal is massively on the rise.

I never put colleagues on my fb because I wouldn't want my personal and professional lives to mix. Or jeopardize my income.

That said, people can do as they please. And when I leave a job I add my old colleagues.

hibbledibble · 04/02/2018 18:40

WhenbI was sick with pneumonia I pretty much spent all my time on facebook and other stuff on my phone. Being sick is boring. I certainly wasn't well enough to work.

The op is quite bizarre. If they had called in sick, then were tagged in photos going for a night out, while off sick, I would take your point.

Gabilan · 04/02/2018 18:41

Whatwould I don't add current colleagues to my FB either. Whilst so many people on here think using FB whilst sick is reasonable, evidently someone somewhere is objecting. And that's just one way in which it can all go horribly wrong.

WhiteWalkersWife · 04/02/2018 18:45

Why couldnt they call in themselves? Thats procedure here. Short of being unconcious (which one i was) or unable to speak, you have to call in yourself.

As for fb, weird timing but not weird they could fb while sick.

TimeforCupcakes · 04/02/2018 18:45

OP where are you...?

JennyBlueWren · 04/02/2018 18:51

Strangely I just accepted a friend request while off sick!
I had also posted a few comments about being ill on Fbook (nothing TMI but my son's medical advice of needing to moisturise!).
Colleagues also messaged me (one work related to reassure me of how I'd been covered as she knows I fuss about it).

I doubt the person who requested me as a friend would be complaining on here about it though (certainly hope not!!).

StaplesCorner · 04/02/2018 18:57

OP has gone sick and banned themselves from t'internet!!

Crinkle77 · 04/02/2018 19:02

I get where you're coming from op. If someone is too ill ring in themselves i would have thought they would be too ill to be bothered going on facebook. I would think they would would be asleep in bed.

Chienrouge · 04/02/2018 19:05

But they can’t sleep for 24 hours of the day can they?

AnyFucker · 04/02/2018 19:08

Called in sick. Or called in dead?

Post of the day 🏅

Springtrolls · 04/02/2018 19:10

Keep forgetting when you are ill you are supposed to stay chained to your bed, with just enough chain to let you go toilet and if you are lucky to be able to reach the kitchen.

Psychobabble123 · 04/02/2018 19:11

You can't be serious OP?! 😂

NerrSnerr · 04/02/2018 19:13

If one of my colleagues did this I would probably log it with 101 just in case.

Mummyoflittledragon · 04/02/2018 19:15

I’ll never work again because I’m too sick.
What am I allowed to do?

Same here. I was wondering the same thing. I’m on here all the bloody time. My fingers work. It’s the rest of me that struggles.

Spacesuitmakeover · 04/02/2018 19:16

Cancel the cheque?

TheJoyOfSox · 04/02/2018 19:17

How much effort do you think it takes to log onto fb?

Mummyoflittledragon · 04/02/2018 19:17

I would probably log it with 101 just in case.
