AIBU To ask that the BBC stops discriminating against men and boys by not allowing them to have a Men's Hour on radio 4.
Women have a woman's hour to discuss and air issues for women, but men do not.
If we want equality shouldn't we ask the BBC to give men the same, after all what harm would it do to us if men had the same arena to discuss there issues.
Equality means the same rights for all.

Sorry for double post there- my computer is playing up

Vicky1990 · 31/01/2018 21:36

Men have exactly the same issues as women except for the obvious medical ones.
Domestic abuse, coercion, divorce, children, work, health, retirement, discrimination.
I have been surprised by the level of ignorance on this thread, and WHY would any right minded person object to the idea of equality.
BUT they are not discussed on the radio, what could the objection be?.

HardAsSnails · 31/01/2018 21:39

The ignorance isn't where you think it is Vicky...

Willow2017 · 31/01/2018 21:46

Why is it up to women to ask for something for men?
Arent they capable of asking themselves?
They have had millennia of putting themselves first (and the BBC is the most misogynistic corporation going) you would think pitching a programme wouldnt be that hard for them?

Maybe you have tried it and they werent interested?
Maybe as pp said its been tried before and failed because men just werent that interested?
Men's Hour on Radio5 ended last January due to lack of interest... thats a clue

Vicky1990 · 31/01/2018 21:47

Hard as nails.
That is exactly what I am suggesting, a platform for all, regardless of what sex you are.

The clue is Men's hour on radio 5, when all the men and women are listening to woman's hour on Radio 4.

I think you are missing my point. I think you are the ignorant one. Not us.

I'm surprised you can even bring yourself to post on something called Mumsnet tbh...

hollowtree · 31/01/2018 22:05

Sorry everyone is being such a dick OP. That's what you get for having an opinion

LOL.

AssassinatedBeauty · 31/01/2018 22:08

"The clue is Men's hour on radio 5, when all the men and women are listening to woman's hour on Radio 4."

Not me! I listen to Radio 5, I used to listen to the mens hour before they stopped doing it.

Are you really of the opinion that men's issues are not discussed on the radio? I think you should check Radio 5 out as they have frequently discussed many topics that are of concern to men.

UpstartCrow · 31/01/2018 22:11

It seems there are a lot of posters on this site who do not want there Fathers, husbands or sons to have the same as there mothers and daughters, I think they must be Feminist who do not like men.

No one has said there shouldn't be a Mens Hour. You should have someone had actually said it.
As it is, you've posted it to several eyerolls and someone who wants to get rid of Women's Hour.

Which the opposite of what you said.

UpstartCrow · 31/01/2018 22:12

*should have waited.

PositivelyPERF · 31/01/2018 22:18

Bad bad bad feminists. Get onto radio four right now and fight for the poor men to have their own hour. Didn’t you know that women are only here to help the poor downtrodden men? Poor wee loves obviously can’t do it all by themselves. They’re obviously too busy doing man things.

Notevilstepmother · 31/01/2018 22:20

Have a Biscuit

Oh and it’s international men’s day on 19th November.

Discrimination.
UpstartCrow · 31/01/2018 22:20

The real purpose of Women's Hour is so men aren't startled into silence by sudden random discussions of wombs and their humours.

Regularsizedrudy · 31/01/2018 22:42

The thing you want literally already exists and no one is objecting to its existence. I think you need a new hobby Vicky.

BakedBeans47 · 31/01/2018 22:49
Biscuit
OwlinaTree · 31/01/2018 22:54

Eh?

loveka · 31/01/2018 23:01

For fucks sake.

Women have listened to mens issues ALL THE TIME

Women were seen as unimportant, not as good as men. Women had no space at all. Which is why Womans Hour began.

But women are still not equal to men. Pay gap. Sport. Politics. I could go on.

I am.genuinely interested in why you think what you do.

VikingVolva · 31/01/2018 23:06

"what could the objection be?"

That it's been tried and it failed because of poor audience figures.

If you think you could domtye programme better than the BBC, why don't you pitch it to a comnercial station?

New programmes that attract listeners are like gold dust, so you need to get out there and get it happening

donquixotedelamancha · 31/01/2018 23:09

It seems there are a lot of posters on this site who do not want there Fathers, husbands or sons to have the same as there mothers and daughters (sic)
You know there are lots of blokes on here right? "by parents for parents" and all that.

Oh and it’s international men’s day on 19th November.
Speaking for my people: no it isn't. We don't need one, thanks.

I have been surprised by the level of ignorance on this thread
At last we agree. As PPs have said, try harder next time.

StickThatInYourPipe · 31/01/2018 23:14

FML they do not need one!
Anyway they are too busy listening to Women’s hour to find out ‘the definition of being a woman’ for when they fill that form out on the internet Hmm
