AIBU To ask that the BBC stops discriminating against men and boys by not allowing them to have a Men's Hour on radio 4.
Women have a woman's hour to discuss and air issues for women, but men do not.
If we want equality shouldn't we ask the BBC to give men the same, after all what harm would it do to us if men had the same arena to discuss there issues.
Equality means the same rights for all.

'To exclude an advantage from a person due to their gender, colour, race or opinion is clearly wrong'

And yet women across the world face this very thing every single fucking day.

But you want us to campaign a corporation that is run by men for a men's hour that has already been shown it isn't wanted on the very heavily imo male prejudiced BBC and lose half an hour of women's hour because out of 24 hours a day there can't possibly be another time men could listen to the radio without taking the one damn thing that women half away or taking half of it.

It's like some toddler having 90% of the toys in his pram and seeing a female toddler with one toy and demanding that one toy.

Gahhhhhh

Recallclock · 06/02/2018 11:32

Didn't men actually have an entire lifestyle channel Men and Motors which was closed as it wasn't watched.

They had Mens hour and it wasn't listened to.

They have just literally had the doctor and been talking about prostate cancer on Itv This Morning too.

There are a thousand male led TV programs and talk programs.

I would actually like to see this if the focus was in the right place because I think long term it could help promote equality overall. Issues that spring to mind are. Male cancers, High Male suicide rates, Male on male violence, Balancing being an active parent with work, achieveing supportive interpersonal relationships, addictions that are more male dominated, e.g. gaming addiction, lack of men within the caring professions and how that impacts on care etc.

PositivelyPERF · 06/02/2018 13:13

So you think coming onto a site used by, mainly women, and whining about ‘poor men’ not having a program that they used to have but didn’t want, so it was shut down. Is doing something? You are full of it. You just want women to feel bad about having a minuscule amount of time dedicated to women’s rights.

Vicky1990 · 06/02/2018 20:17

This posting was not about removing woman's hour or asking anybody to do anything. The aim was to discuss the fact that the BBC does not provide men with the same platform as women to discuss issues that are relevant to them. I am interested in this matter as I want the same rights for both of my children to be able to have a place on the radio for in depth discussion on aspects that affect there lives, both meaning men and women. Some people seem to have a problem with that, if so I would ask why?, you would be loosing nothing.

Not another one for fuck's sake Envy

BIWI · 06/02/2018 20:28

And yet, to pick up on your example, there was widespread coverage recently about prostate cancer. Funny that.

Please go away @Vicky1990.

SmileEachDay · 06/02/2018 20:29

Today is a celebration of the start of the removal of one of those wrongs caused by ignorance, I am suggesting the removal of another.

Yes. You’re right up there with Pankhurst OP

Hmm

OP you do realise don’t you that in 1918 the vote was extended to female householders over 30 and ALL men over 21.

So men still had more voting rights than women.

HarveyKietelRabbit · 07/02/2018 07:40

How many times are you going to make the same thread?

Men are doing alright you know. They really really don't need you campaigning for them.

Vicky1990 · 07/02/2018 22:12

We hear nothing on woman's hour about woman making false allegations of sexual assault against men, there has been a lot of these recently, the accused innocent man is named, life ruined, held in custody, and could be sent to prison. But the woman who deliberately made false allegations is not named and gets away with it.
Woman's hour will never discuss this issue as it is biased, men need there own program to talk about this.

OP posts:
AssassinatedBeauty · 07/02/2018 22:34

Oh fgs.

False allegations of rape are no higher than any other crime. Why is it such a desperately high priority for you?

There have not been a lot of false allegations recently. What there have been are cases that have been dropped or men that have been found not guilty. This does not mean that the allegations were false or made maliciously.

If a false allegation can be proved then the person involved would be prosecuted and then they would be named.

It is not discrimination that this is not talked about on Women's Hour.

If men want a Men's Hour (do you know that they do?) then they have the ability to implement this! No one is preventing them, least of all women.

Maybe we could also request MOWOs as well as MOBO awards? It’s only fair.
(No ironic emojis?)

alleypally great link. I will show it to DD later

BIWI · 08/02/2018 09:06

There's something rather sweet though about a stupid MRA coming into MN to ask for something for men!

@Vicky1990 perhaps you need to ask your mummy for permission?

RadioGaGoo · 08/02/2018 09:09

OP. Are you suggesting that men are not capable of asking the BBC for their own programme? That they need women to hand hold and ask for them? I pity how you are raising your male DC thinking this way. They will never be able to cope with it a woman.

RadioGaGoo · 08/02/2018 09:09

*without

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 08/02/2018 09:34

My then 16 year old son wrote to his mp regarding the bus service in our area

Although i very much doubt that it was due to his email the bus service was increased

I dontbreally understand how he could manage to do this and grown men can't

I reckon my husband could write a letter to the BBC as well

He is dead clever

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 08/02/2018 09:36

I could do it as well as contrary to my posts on here i am actually pretty good with grammar and punctuation

My spellings shit but i remember where i put the dictionary

Vicky1990 · 08/02/2018 09:38

This was in a National newspaper yesterday, written by a female correspondent, page 17.

Talking of equality, if all-male gatherings are now virtually a hanging offence, where does that leave openly female-biased institutions such as woman's Hour? Surely its high time the controller of Radio 4 set aside a daily slot aimed at addressing men's issues - such as the fact that deaths from prostrate cancer have now overtaken breast cancer?
