To wonder why you wouldn't make a small effort to cover up whilst feeding?

I don’t really understand it. A good friend of mine liked a picture that I came across today titled “Not even trying to cover up in public anymore, most natural thing ever 👌❤️”

Picture is of said woman in a bit swankier than average place to eat, boob completely out without thought and baby isn’t covering it at all really.

You do NOT NOT NOT have to cover a baby’s head to be discrete. You don’t even have to wear specialist clothing, it’s very easy to be discrete without having to have the whole breast completely on show.

I wouldn’t just feed DS with a whole boob out, it isn’t necessary and although BF is natural, some people do feel uncomfortable about breasts and aren’t comfortable seeing one completely on show - It doesn’t mean they’d say anything and that’s because they’re polite.

Is it really necessary to have whole boob out like that? AIBU?

I can’t say I’ve seen many people doing it, SIL was feeding her newborn DS a few weeks back and I was shocked she was feeding. I couldn’t actually tell, and baby has a small latch issue.

I’ve only ever seen one other person in public being a bit too in your face about it. She had the whole thing out and wasn’t too bothered regarding her DC being on there etc. She had it out before he was even out of the pram from waking up. The breast was directing me in life, so it seemed, by its swinging

I personally like a bit of decorum in all situations. Yes of course when breastfeeding, people should do it discreetly in public places.

Horses for courses I suppose. It wasn't for me - I'm not a 'let it all hang out' or a 'lookit meeeeee - I have a bay-beeeeeee!' kind of person.

It’s simply being a bit discrete about how much you have on show because it does make some people a little uncomfortable.

I wouldn’t have an issue getting the whole thing out in public, wouldn’t embarrass me one bit. But I KNOW not everyone is comfortable with that and I’m happy to make a small effort to consider other people too. It doesn’t take any effort at all really.

Mine being I fed numerous dc anywhere they needed feeding but for my own preference never ever flashed a breast. .
Mine are to me private. .
They aren't kept hidden because I am ashamed of the grand job they did of providing for my dc, or because of any other reason, just because to me they are private!!

I see more breast when I'm browsing instagram or "celeb" news than when I see women breastfeeding. Do you feel as uncomfortable with tiny triangle bikini tops or people in sheer nipple exposing tops? Just curious..
It's very strange that we're conditioned to feel awkward about others using their breasts in a natural way but have become totally desensitised to them being out in any other context.

If other people aren't comfortable with a baby being fed they can look away. It's up to them to cater to their attitudes because it's their issue.

I’m the opposite, I don’t really care who sees them personally, but I don’t have them on show because some people that aren’t me see them as private.

I don’t see why I shouldn’t consider anyone else. Yes they’re my breasts, that’s fine. I don’t feel bothered who sees them. But I know some people don’t particularly like it/want it in eye line and so I take this into consideration despite me being here nor there about others having a look

When I’m at home I’ll usually use the boob out over the neckline for feeding but I prefer not to do that when I’m out.

Saying that sometimes when I’m out, he’s screaming and I’m all fingers and thumbs I go for the quickest and easiest method of boob to mouth and that’s isn’t always the most discreet.

It’s her boobs and her baby so she can feed however she wants, including have a “whole” boob out. Don’t see a problem with it at all. If you do, just don’t look.
