Male beauticians and waxing!!

This is based on a friends experience, not mine and it's not so much a AIBU. But we've been discussing it at length and I'm interested in others thoughts.
So would you be ok with a male beautician doing intimate waxing? Would it depend on quite how intimate, so a bikini wax would be ok, but a all off not so much?

I'm not actually sure myself. A part of me thinks it's no different to a male doctor or nurse and I'd be fine with that. Definitely wouldn't have a problem with any other beauty treatments being done by a man, but waxing that invloves no underwear, I'm not sure!!

It wouldnt bother me. I am sure that they are professionals.

No different to female beauty therapists waxing male private parts.

No I wouldn't be happy with that. I don't want any intimate procedures done by men. I accept that it might be necessary eg male doctor but not for non essential stuff.

It would bother me. Even if you get a bikini line done, they often move the underwear around etc - I wouldn't really like it.

It wouldn't bother me, I've had to see medical professionals down there.

My friend runs a salon though and quite regularly they do get a guy wanting a bikini line but they don't do it for guys.

I have been to many many beauty salons over the years and have never come across a male therapist. Sometimes on high end cosmetic counters but not in salons. I sometimes go to the local beauty college and again its all female.

I wouldn't be comfortable tbh

Wouldn't mind eyebrows or upper lip but wouldn't want bikini/Brazilian etc done by a man. Not sure about armpits.

Um no. Wouldn't see a male HCP either. I hope she was warned before hand that it was a male?

I don't see how the gender of the waxer matters. Pretty sure no guy out there has gone through the training/years at college and is holding down a job as a beautician and all the other treatments like nails, eyebrows, facials, waxing tashes and beards, just because he will occasionally get to see a vulva. Any touching surely they wear gloves to do intimate waxes, and hes not directly touching your skin, the wax is applied via spatula and then he touches the strip, he's not caressing your bits.
I assume its because you're assuming theres a sexual element to it for a man, but your female beautician could easily be lesbian and the male be gay. If you're comfortable with a stranger waxing your bits, their gender and sexual orientation shouldn't matter.
Nobody, not even the most heterosexual woman on the planet, is ever waxing my bits.

Eyebrows fine, bikini no.

I don't want any strange men down there unless it's necessary. There were 6 men (and 6 women) in the room when I gave birth but that was required so totally different.

I also view the type of training a HCP goes through as completely different to that of a beautician.

Also the gossiping I've heard from most beauticians I've ever been to about their clients doesn't assure me of the same kind of confidential relationship you would have with a doctor.

To be honest.. I wouldn't want it done by a male.. I have had my nails done by a male.. He wasn't that good. I had a male cut my hair( top Salon) and stunk of smoke so my experiences have put me off.

I'd not be comfortable. Don't want a male masseuse either. It wouldn't be relaxing for me.

I would mind. People should definitely have the option for a same sex person when doing intimate stuff.

Absolutely no way. They have to get pretty intimate down there, I'm cringing at points when a female is doing it. It's completely different to a smear test or something when they're in and out! It's not that I would ever think there's something sexual about it, it would just make me feel very self conscious.

No I wouldn't want that, fine with nails/ facial etc but not massage or below waist wax. Fine with male doctors and nurses but wouldn't want one for intimate examination unless no alternative and would want female chaperone.

And my expectation of professionalism/confidentiality is much higher with a doctor than a beautician!
