ExH kissing DD15 on the lips

I know there's been a lot in the press recently about "celebs" kissing their young children on the lips, but what about older teenagers?
ExH turned up to pick up DD15 yesterday and kissed her on the lips as they walked to the car. The more I think about it, the more uncomfortable I am with it. I love my Dad with all my heart, but kissing him on the lips would just seem wrong.
AIBU to think it's weird or is it quite normal?

YANBU that's weird

slimceagirl · 10/08/2017 21:21

I agree, at 15 thats not appropriate

Xeneth88 · 10/08/2017 21:22

Get over yourself. Yabu

Iloveanimals · 10/08/2017 21:22

I wouldn't feel comfortable with it... But MIL does it to DH so...

GunnyHighway · 10/08/2017 21:22

Yup, bloke does something must be odd.

ThymeLordIsSpartacus · 10/08/2017 21:22

You will get varying answers so don't expect it to be unanimous! I kiss my 14 yo daughter on the lips and I kiss my 72 year old mum on the lips, and until he died I kissed my 74 year old dad on the lips. Not weird, just our family.

tigerdriverII · 10/08/2017 21:23

Not normal, creepy.

Muddlingalongalone · 10/08/2017 21:23

I kiss my dad on the lips and I'm 37. Am I weird?

Completely normal. I've always kissed my parents on the lips.

WhamBarsArentAsFizzyAsTheyWere · 10/08/2017 21:24

My 15yo d's will occasionally give me a kiss on the lips, no big deal imo unless tgeres a huge back story.

2littlemoos · 10/08/2017 21:24

Surprised people think it's weird.. unless it's lingering I can't see the problem. It's just normal for some people.

MIL gives us all wet kisses (grim) including her DS (my DP).

SlaveToDisney · 10/08/2017 21:24

I still kiss my grandad on the lips i dont think it's weird. I think it's whether your daughter feels uncomfortable with it.

StillDrivingMeBonkers · 10/08/2017 21:24

Depends if DD is uncomfortable with it.

nuttyknitter · 10/08/2017 21:25

Perfectly normal.

HiJenny35 · 10/08/2017 21:25

YABU not weird at all!

notreallythere · 10/08/2017 21:26

Does she find it weird?

cuckooplusone · 10/08/2017 21:26

I think it's really weird

TakeMe2Insanity · 10/08/2017 21:27

Ok its not something I do, grew up or like BUT if your ex-dh has done this all your dd's life then this is normal to your dd, ex-dh and should be to you.

Zarah123 · 10/08/2017 21:27

YANBU. Is he creepy in other ways?

Parents should teach dc about boundaries.

Mychildcouldnotbreaatfeed · 10/08/2017 21:28

Depends on how your DD feels.

Some families do. Some don't.

PandaG · 10/08/2017 21:28

MlL and FIL both attempt to do this, to me and DC. I have perfected the art of offering a cheek! If your DD is OK with it, I don't see a problem. I choose to only kiss DH on the lips, but know a peck on the lips is usual between members of his extended family

DerelictWreck · 10/08/2017 21:28

They're just lips.

Society made them sexual, but it's perfectly innocent and normal for him to do that!

My 28 your old bf kisses his dad on the lips!

lelapaletute · 10/08/2017 21:28

Not weird unless he's foisting it on her! He's her dad, it's a peck on the lips. I miss my baby on the lips all the time, at what exact age does it suddenly become creepy and why??

Farmerswife4life1984 · 10/08/2017 21:29

Fuck off YABU !!! nothing wrong at all at giving your dd a kiss on the lips
